  • Embedded devices with the development of modern computer technology also began equipped with a variety of functions. In this study, to provide a method of tracking efficient face with a small instrument of resources, such as built-in equipment that uses an image sensor in recent years has been actively carried out. It uses a face detection method using the features of the MB-LBP in order to obtain an accurate face, specify the region (Region of Interest) around the face when the face detection for the face object tracking in the next video did. And in the video can not be detected faces, to track objects using the CAM-Shift key is a conventional object tracking method, which make it possible to retain the information without loss of object information. In this study, through the comparison with the previous studies, it was confirmed the precision and high-speed performance of the object tracking system.

  • When size and shape of moving object have been changed, a correlator often accumulates walk-off error. A success of correlation-based tracking largely depends on choosing suitable window size and position and thus transferring the proper reference image to the next frame. For this, we propose the Adaptive Window Algorithm with Four-Direction Sizing Factors (AWA-FSF) for fast adjusting a reference region to enhance reliability of correlation-based image tracking in complex cluttered environments. Since the AWA-FSF is capable of adjusting a reference image size more rapidly and properly, we can minimize the influence of complex background and clutter. In addition, we can finely tune the center point of the reference image repeatedly after main tracking process. Thus we have increased stability and reliability of correlation-based image tracking. We tested performance of the AWA-FSF using 45 real image sequences made of over 3400 images and had the satisfied results for most of them.

  • Multi-target tracking system is defined as tracking several targets simultaneously. Data association is needed for tracking a among the measurements of several targets. In this paper, a method based on the confidence region of predicted target position is proposed. The simulation results and the application results in multi-target tracking systems show the superior properties of the proposed method.

  • A realtime face tracking algorithm using motion analysis from image sequences and color information is proposed. Motion area from the realtime moving images is detected by calculating temporal derivatives first, candidate pixels which represent face region is extracted by the fusion filtering with multiple color models, and realtime face tracking is performed by discriminating face components which includes eyes and lips. We improve the stability of face tracking performance by using template matching with face region in an image sequence and the reference template of face components.

  • This paper proposes a novel code tracking scheme to track the fine code synchronization for BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals. The correlation function of BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals has been several peaks. In this paper, we observe that the correlation function in the advanced offset region remains almost unchanged, due to the multipath signals being received later than a line-of-sight signal. Based on this observation, we propose a novel code tracking scheme which is called the advanced region correlation (ARC) method for BOC(n,n) modulated spreading signals. And, we compare with the code tracking accuracy between the conventional and proposed methods in the static multipath and land mobile satellite system channels through the Monte-Carlo simulation. Then, base on the proposed scheme, we propose the generalized-ARC (ARC) scheme for BOC(pn, n) modulated spreading signals.

  • In our study, the automatic tracking algorithm of a human face is proposed by utilizing the thermal properties and 2nd momented geometrical feature of an infrared image. First, the facial candidates are estimated by restricting the certain range of thermal values, and the spurious blobs cleaning algorithm is applied to track the refined facial region in an infrared image.

  • It is useful to detect the tracking error with an optimal view in the presence of measurement origin uncertainty. In this paper, after the investigation of the targer error dependent on the detection threshold as well as the detection and false alarm probabilities in a clutter environment, a new algorothm that optimizes the threshold of validation region for target trackinf is proposed. The performance of the algorithm is demonstrated through computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we present real-time, accurate face region detection and tracking technique for an intelligent surveillance system. It is very important to obtain the high-resolution images, which enables accurate identification of an object-of-interest. Conventional surveillance or security systems, however, usually provide poor image quality because they use one or more fixed cameras and keep recording scenes without any cine. We implemented a real-time surveillance system that tracks a moving person using four pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. While tracking, the region-of-interest (ROI) can be obtained by using a low-pass filter and background subtraction. Color information in the ROI is updated to extract features for optimal tracking and zooming. The experiment with real human faces showed highly acceptable results in the sense of both accuracy and computational efficiency.

  • Hand segmentation and tracking is essential to the development of a hand gesture recognition system. This research features segementation and tracking of hand regions based the hue component of color. We propose a method that employs HSI color model, and segments and tracks hand regions using the hue component of color alone. In order to track the segmented hand regions, we only apply Kalman filter to a region of interest represented by a rectangle region. Initial experimental results show that the system accurately segments and tracks hand regions although it only uses the hue compoent of color. The system yields near real time throghput of 8 frames per second on a Pentium II 233MHz PC.

  • Accurate detection, tracking and analysis of human movement using robots and other visual surveillance systems is still a challenge. Efforts are on to make the system robust against constraints such as variation in shape, size, pose and occlusion. Traditional methods of detection used the sliding window approach which involved scanning of various sizes of windows across an image. This paper concentrates on employing a state-of-the-art, hierarchical graph based method for segmentation. It has two stages: part level segmentation for color-consistent segments and object level segmentation for category-consistent regions. The tracking phase is achieved by employing SIFT keypoint descriptor based technique in a combined matching and tracking scheme with validation phase. Localization of human region in each frame is performed by keypoints by casting votes for the center of the human detected region. As it is difficult to avoid incorrect keypoints, a consensus-based framework is used to detect voting behavior. The designed methodology is tested on the video sequences having 3 to 4 persons.
