Heat transfer characteristics of redan structure in large-scale test facility STELLA-2

  • The construction of STELLA-2 facility is on-going to demonstrate the safety system of PGSFR and to provide comprehensive understanding of transient behavior under DBEs. Considering that most events are single-phase natural circulation flow with slow transient, STELLA-2 was designed with reduced-height of 1/5 length scale. The ratio of volume to surface area in the vessel can relatively increase resulting in excessive heat transfer. Therefore, a steady-state thermal-hydraulic analysis was performed and the effect of design change to reduce the heat transfer through redan was investigated. The heat transfer through single wall redan in STELLA-2 was 3% of the core power, comparable to 1% of the core power in PGSFR. By applying the insulated redan, about 70% of decrease effect was observed. The effect on transient behavior was also evaluated. The conclusion of this study was directly applied to the STELLA-2 design and the modified version is under construction.

Effect of Flow Liners on Ship′s Wake Simulation in a Cavitation Tunnel

  • Flew control devices, such as flow liners, are frequently introduced in a cavitation tunnel in order to reduce the tunnel blockage effect, when a three-dimensional wake distribution is simulated using a complete ship model or a dummy model. In order to estimate the tunnel wall effect and to evaluate the effect of flow liners on the simulated wake distribution, a surface panel method is adopted for the calculation of the flow around a ship model and flow liners installed in a rectangular test section off cavitation tunnel. Calculation results on the Sydney Express ship model show that the tunnel wall effect on the hull surface pressure distribution is negligible for less than 5% blockage and can be appreciable for more than 20% blockage. The flow liners accelerate the flow near the afterbody of the ship model, so that the pressure gradient there becomes more favorable and accordingly the boundary layer thickness would be reduced. Since the resulting wake distribution is assumed to resemble the full scale wake, flow liners can also be used to simulate an estimated full scale wake without modifying the ship model. Boundary taper calculation should be incorporated in order to correlate the calculated wake distribution with the measured one.

Unsteady aerodynamic forces on a vibrating long-span curved roof

  • The present paper discusses the characteristics of unsteady aerodynamic forces on long-span curved roofs. A forced vibration test is carried out in a wind tunnel to investigate the effects of wind speed, vibration amplitude, reduced frequency of vibration and rise/span ratio of the roof on the unsteady aerodynamic forces. Because the range of parameters tested in the wind tunnel experiment is limited, a CFD simulation is also made for evaluating the characteristics of unsteady aerodynamic forces on the vibrating roof over a wider range of parameters. Special attention is paid to the effect of reduced frequency of vibration. Based on the results of the wind tunnel experiment and CFD simulation, the influence of the unsteady aerodynamic forces on the dynamic response of a full-scale long-span curved roof is investigated on the basis of the spectral analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose the computation reduction methods of LSP(Line spectrum pairs) transformation that is mainly used in CELP vocoders. In order to decrease the computational time in real root method the characteristic of four proposed algorithms is as the following. First, scheme to reduce the LSP transformation time uses met scale. Developed the second scheme is the control of searching order by the distribution characteristic of LSP parameters. Third, scheme to reduce the LSP transformation time uses voice characteristics. Developed the fourth scheme is the control of searching interval and order by the distribution characteristic of LSP parameters. As a result of searching time, computational amount, transformed LSP parameters, SNR, MOS test, waveform of synthesized speech, speech, spectrogram analysis, searching time reduced about 37.5%, 46.21%, 46.3%, 51.29% in average, computational amount is reduced about 44.76%, 49.44%, 47.03%, 57.40%. But the transformed LSP parameters of the proposed methods were the same as those of real root method.

영적 간호중재가 호스피스 환자의 불안과 우울에 미치는 효과

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to elucidate the effects of spiritual nursing intervention on anxiety and depression of the hospice patients. This study was devised one group pretest-posttest design. The data was collected during the period from July 10 to September 25 in 2000 at the general hospital in cheonju city. The subjects were thirty-seven patients who referred the hospice service. Method: The tools were used Spielberger's State Anxiety Scale and Zung's Depression Inventory. The spiritual nursing intervention was carried out through Hymn, Scripture, Prayer, the therapeutic use of self over a period of three weeks. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test. Results: 1.After the spiritual nursing intervention, state anxiety of hospice patients was reduced(t=6.237, p=0.000). 2.After the spiritual nursing intervention, depression of hospice patients was reduced(t=18.58, p=0.000). Conclusion: The hospice patients who were offered spiritual nursing intervention had lower anxiety & depression than those who were not offered spiritual nursing intervention. According to these results, spiritual nursing intervention can be regarded as an effective nursing intervention that relieved anxiety and depression of the hospice patients.

  • This paper deals with the parallel operation of space vector PWM for large capacity inverter system. To enlarge the capacity of inverter system and to reduce the current ripples on inverter output side, two or more inverters are operated in parallel. In this paper, a new parallel operation strategy which minimizes the harmonic distortion of the output stage is described. The proposed method is developed on the basis of the space-vector PWM in order to increase the linearly controllable voltage range. With the help of the proposed voltage synthesis method, the total harmonic distortion of the output stage can be greatly reduced in compared with that of conventional method with sinusoidal PWM or that of the single inverter operation case. The experimental results with reduced scale test show the feasibility of the proposed voltage synthesis method.

  • This study is to develop a Fe-based disc brake tinning with sponge structure for passenger car of 150km/h train and to concept design with 3 groove type for brake disc reducing hot hair-crack and certainly friction coeifficient. The developping brake linning would be to presumption of thermal stress Max.5.53k9/m0 of the 3 groove type. and It is stable friction coeifficient and wear rate on the Full Scale Brake dynamometer. So 3 groove type must be reduced to hot stress between Brake disc and Linning and Friction temperature is reduced about 20$^{\circ}C$

말기암 환자 가족에 대한 호스피스 팀의 정보적 지지 제공 효과

  • To evaluate the effect of informational support by hospice team on family caregivers of terminally ill cancer patients, 22 family caregivers of D University Hospital in Daegu city were participated. The research was conducted from Aug. 16th to Oct. 28th 2000 by using self-reported questionnaires. The instruments used in this study were the Weinert's scale of perceived social support, Spielberger's state anxiety inventory, CES-D, and Ellison and Paloutzian's spiritual well-being scale. The intervention was designed to give educational and counselling program up to 7 times within 4 weeks. Educational and counselling booklets which made by the researcher were used step by step by hospice team. The data were analysed frequency, percentage, Wilcoxon Singed Ranks Test Test with SPSS Win 10.0/PC. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1.The perceived social support of family caregivers was significantly increased after ready planned informational support was applied by hospice team(z=-3.045, p=0.002). 2.The anxiety of family caregivers was significantly reduced after ready planned informational support was applied by hospice team(z=-3.348, p=0.001). 3.The depression of family caregivers was significantly reduced after ready planned informational support was applied by hospice team(z=-3.641, p=0.000). 4.The spiritual well-being score of family caregivers was not significantly improved after ready planned informational support was applied by hospice team(z=-0.422, p=0.673). In conclusion, the results of this study clearly suggests that the informational support provided by hospice team not only increased the family caregivers' who are caring for terminally ill cancer patients. Therefor the informational support program designed by researcher for family caregivers who are caring for terminally ill cancer patients should be utilized and expended.

실내 모형실험을 통한 시공 중 파쇄대의 공간적 분포가 터널거동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of orientation of fracture zone on tunnel behavior during construction using model test)

  • 본 논문에서는 축소 모형실험을 이용한 파쇄대의 공간적 분포 특성이 터널의 거동에 미치는 영향에 대한 내용을 다루었다. 모형실험 조건으로 터널과 파쇄대의 이격 거리 및 지표면과 이루는 경사에 대해서 실험을 수행하였다. 터널 시공 과정을 압축공기기법으로 모사하였으며 실험 중에 터널의 내부 압력을 제거 하는 동시에 터널 및 지반에 발생하는 변형을 모니터링 하였다. 실험 결과 파쇄대 이격 거리에 따라서 터널 거동에 영향을 미치며 파쇄대가 수직일 경우 터널에 가장 큰 영향이 발생하며 파쇄대 경사 45도에서 가장 작은 영향이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다.
