  • Game balance settings are crucial to game design. Game balancing must take into account a large amount of numerical values, configuration data, and the relationship between elements. Once released and served, a game - even for a balanced game - often requires calibration according to the game player's preference. To achieve sustainability, game balance needs adjustment while allowing for small changes. In fact, from the producers' standpoint, game balance issue is a critical success factor in game production. Therefore, they often invest much time and capital in game design. However, if such a costly game cannot provide players with an appropriate level of difficulty, the game is more likely to fail. On the contrary, if the game successfully identifies the game players' propensity and performs self-balancing to provide appropriate difficulty levels, this will significantly reduce the likelihood of game failure, while at the same time increasing the lifecycle of the game. Accordingly, if a novel technology for game balancing is developed using artificial intelligence (AI) that offers personalized, intelligent, and customized service to individual game players, it would bring significant changes to the game production system.

  • In this paper, an automatic transmission system of traffic information is presented. Here, a traffic event is defined as an obstacle to an emergency vehicle such as an ambulance or a fire truck. When a traffic event is detected from a video recorded by a black box installed in a vehicle, the implemented system automatically transmits a proof image and corresponding information to the control center through an e-mail. For this purpose, we realize an algorithm of identifying the numbers and a character from the license plate, and an algorithm for determining the occurrence of a traffic event. To report the event, a function for automatic transmission of the text and image files through e-mail and file transfer protocol (FTP) is also appended. Therefore, if the traffic event is extended and applied to the presented system, it will be possible to establish a convenient reporting system for the violation of various traffic regulations. In addition, it will contribute to significantly reduce the number of traffic violations against the regulations.

  • Researches of Hangul automation have been focused mainly on the set of character system. But, practical problem of using the Korean standard keyboard system of two sets is increment of errors and fatigue due to frequent use of shift keys. The author formulate a hypothesis as follows to solve the problem. 'Changing location and design of shift keys can reduce errors in typing Korean by avoiding interferences with other keys when pressing shift keys.' This study verify the hypothesis by the analysis of experiments using improved keyboard prototypes which have changed layout and design of shift keys. On the result, change of shift key location causes confusion to experienced user. But, while keeping its location, removing other keys at the bottom row and magnifying size of shift keys decrease errors in typing by avoiding interferences. And, the efficiency of typing in Korean is increased, too, because there is not any influence on typing speed. This study focuses on layout and design of shift keys only, but further study for entire layout of keyboard including alternative location of other function keys is needed to improve general usability.

  • Rough classification methods are used to improving the recognition speed in many character recognition problems. In this case, some irreversible result can occur by an error in rough classification. Methods for duplicating each model in several classes are used in order to reduce this risk. But the errors by rough classfication can not be completely ruled out by these methods. In this paper, an recognition method is proposed to increase speed that matches models selectively without any increase in error. This method constructs a model graph using similarity between models. Then a search process begins from a particular point in the model graph. In this process, matching of unnecessary models are reduced that are not similar to the input pattern. In this paper, the proposed method is applied to the recognition problem of handwriting numbers and upper/lower cases of English alphabets. In the experiments, the proposed method was compared with the basic method that matches all models with input pattern. As a result, the same recognition rate, which has shown as the basic method, was obtained by controlling the out-degree of the model graph and the number of maintaining candidates during the search process thereby being increased the recognition speed to 2.45 times.

  • MMORPG is a role-playing game that tens of thousands of people access it online at the same time. Users connect to the server through the game client and play with their own characters. If the user moves to a management area of another server beyond the area managed by the server, the user information must be transmitted to the server to be moved. In an actual game, the user is required to synchronize the established and the transferred information. In this paper, we propose a migration agent server in the virtual systems. We implement a seamless virtual server using the grid method to experiment with seamless server architecture for virtual systems. We propose a method to minimize the delay and equalize the load when the user moves to another server region in the virtual environment. Migration Agent acts as a cache server to reduce response time, the response time was reduced by 50% in the case of 70,000 people.

  • Background: Painters in the automotive sector are routinely exposed to volatile organic solvents, and the levels vary depending on the occupational health and safety controls enforced at the companies. This study investigates the levels of exposure to organic vapors and the existence of controls in the formal economy sector in southern Colombia. Methods: This is an exploratory study of an observational and descriptive character. An analysis of solvents is conducted via the personal sampling of painters and the analysis of samples using the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health 1501 method. The amount of solvents analyzed varied according to the budget allocated by the companies. The person in charge of the occupational safety and health management system was interviewed to learn about the exposure controls implemented at the companies. Results: A medium exposure risk for toluene was found in one company. Another presented medium risk for carbon tetrachloride, xylene, ethylbenzene, and n-butanol. The others showed low risk of exposure and that the controls implemented were not sufficient or efficient. Conclusion: These results shed light on the working conditions of these tradespeople. The permissible limits established by Colombian regulations for the evaluated chemical contaminants were not exceeded. However, there were contaminants that exceeded the limits of action. The analysis of findings made it possible to propose improvements in occupational safety and health management systems to allow the optimization of working conditions for painters, prevent the occurrence of occupational diseases, and reduce costs to the country's health system.

  • Confirmation bias is well known to be the cause of widespread misjudgment in the field of forensic decision-making. In this study, we examined the psychological mechanisms by which confirmation bias affects intentionality judgment in serious injury and death cases that combine the moral characteristics of the perpetrator and victim differently. As a result, participants perceived the case as a more typical criminal case when both the perpetrator and victim were bad people, and gave higher intention to perpetrators' actions in these typical crimes. In particular, it was found that people with a high degree of confirmation bias highly judge the intention of the offenders in a consistent way with the stereotype of criminal cases. However, in serious criminal cases, the moderate effect of confirmation bias has disappeared and only the effect of crime typicality has existed. Finally, we discussed implications of this study and ways to reduce bias in intentionality judgment.
