  • A new algorithm for self-tuning digital controller is proposed. The system to be controlled is identified on line in auto-regressive-moving-average(ARMA) form via recursive least mean square method. The control law is obtained from the minimization of an objective function. The proposed objective function is similar to that of Generalized Minimum Variance(GMV) method but modified to lessen the overshoot and to avoid numerical divergence problem. This algorithm is applied to the power system stabilization and the comparison of the proposed method with a conventional power system stabilizer(PSS) is presented.

  • In this paper, the scheme of fuzzy system construction using GA(genetic algorithm) and FCM(Fuzzy c-means) clustering algorithm is proposed for TSK(Takagi-Sugeno-Kang) type fuzzy system. in the structure identification, input data is trans-formed by PCA(Principal Component Analysis) to reduce the correlation among input data components. And then, the number of fuzzy rule is obtained by a given performance criterion. In the parameter identification, the premise parameters are optimally searched by GA.   • This paper represents the study of an effective self-tuning PID control for a robot manipulator to track a reference trajectory in spite of the presence of nonlinearities and parameters uncertainties in robot dynamic models. In this control scheme, an error model of the manipulator is established, for the first time, by difference between joint reference trajectory and tracked trajectory. It's model Parameters are estimated by the recursive least-square identification algorithm, and classical controller parameters are determined by pole placement method. A computer simulation study was conducted to demonstrate performance of the proposed self-tuning PID control in joint-based coordinates for a robot with payload.

  • This paper presents a new approach to the design of self-tuning adaptive control system that is robust to the changing dynamic configuration as well as to the load variation factors using digital signal processors for robot manipulators. TMS3200C50 is used in implementing real-time adaptive control algorithms provide advanced performance for robot manipulator. In this paper an adaptive control scheme is proposed in order to design the pole-placement self-tuning controller which can reject the offset due to any load disturbance without a detailed description of robot dynamics. parameters of discrete-time difference model are estimated by the recursive least-square identification algorithm and controller parameters are detemined by the pole-placement method. Performance of self-tuning adaptive controller is illusrated by the simulation and experiment for a SCARA robot.

  • This paper evaluates the closed loop performance of the reaching law based discrete sliding mode controller with multisensor data fusion (MSDF) in real time, by controlling the first two vibrating modes of a piezo actuated structure. The vibration is measured using two homogeneous piezo sensors. The states estimated from sensors output are fused. Four fusion algorithms are considered, whose output is used to control the structural vibration. The controller is designed using a model identified through linear Recursive Least Square (RLS) method, based on ARX model. Improved vibration suppression is achieved with fused data as compared to single sensor. The experimental evaluation of the closed loop performance of sliding mode controller with data fusion applied to piezo actuated structure is the contribution in this work.

  • A leak detection method for diagnosis of the leak position in a pipeline was developed using an estimation theory with the assumption that the measured flow rates and pressures are stochastic processes. A notch filter was designed using power spectral density analysis of measurements to reduce the effects of disturbances. The noise model dimension was determined by hypothesis testing and then recursive extended least square method was applied to estimate the leak position in real time. The proposed method was applied to an experimental system for evaluation of its performance.

  • We propose an optimized adaptive PID control scheme. This paper is focused on the development of model reduction as well as a new adoptive control structure (viz. a recursive least square estimation (RLSE) method-based structure) that is constructed with smith-predictor structure and a real time estimator. The estimator adjust parameters of a reduced model in real time. It leads to robust and superb control performance for the noise or variation of parameters of process. Experimental study reveals that the proposed control structure exhibits more superb output performance in comparison to some previous methods.

  • 適應 循環 필터에서 시스템 傳達 函數의 極點이 單位圓 밖으로 나감으로써 시스템이 불안정해지는 것을 방지하기 위해 適應 補償器를 채용한 適應 循環 필터 알고리듬을 제안하였고 제안한 알고리듬이 超安定性을 만족한다는 것을 證明하였다. 제안한 알고리듬 適應 雜音 除去器에 응용하여 LS방법의 適應 循環 필터를 이용한 適應 雜音 除去器, 適應 非循環 필터를 이용한 適應 雜音 除去器와의 성능을 比較하여 제안한 알고리듬의 妥當性을 立證하였다.

  • The major difficulty in distillation column control lies in executing the set point tracking and the disturbance rejection, because of continuous changes in model order and dead time. For that, generalized predictive control(GPC) was applied to distillation column control. Recursive least square method was used to adjust the changes of model order and dead time. Quadratic progamming(QP) was used to solve the constraint problems in control action and the rate of control action. As a result of the simulation on the dynamic simulator(SPEEDUP) and the experiment on pilot plant, the ability of the set point tracking and the disturbance rejection was acceptable to apply to the real distillation column.

  • Because of its long measurement range and ultra-precise resolution. the heterodyne laser interferometer systems are very common in various industry area such as semiconductor manufacturing. However the periodical nonlinearity property caused from frequency mixing is an obstacle to improve the high measurement accuracy in nanometer scale. In this paper to minimize the effect of nonlinearity, we propose an adaptive nonlinearity compensation algorithm. We first compute compensation parameters using least square (LS) with the capacitance displacement sensor as a reference input. We then update the parameters with recursive LS (RLS) while the values are optimized to modify the elliptical phase into circular one. Through comparison with some experimental results of laser system, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.
