  • Records in Contexts (RiC) is an international archival description standard developed by integrating and normalizing four archival description standards of the International Council of Archives (ICA). RiC has the advantage of diversifying archival description, exposing the context of records, and ensuring data interoperability between disparate systems. In this study, RiC is set up as a key tool in the design of archive systems, and logical data modeling is performed to implement the database. Because of RiC's conceptual model, RiC-CM can be used as a data reference model, and which makes it possible to develop a data model that meets user requirements. Therefore, this study intends to implement these two data models: relational data model, which is widely used as the database on legacy systems, and graphical data model, which can flexibly extend objects around the relationship between information entities.

  • This study delves into the National Archives of Korea's service that provides information on changes in records-creating agencies, identifying the problems in an organizational relationship structure and exploring potential enhancements using the RiC-O. Drawing insights from the French PIAAF project, we applied RiC-O to integrate information on records and records creators, elucidating relationships between data entities. Our analysis demonstrated that leveraging RiC-O, coupled with technologies like linked data, amplifies the interoperability of authority records, substantially enhancing the service providing information on changes in records-creating agencies. Based on these findings, we propose an authority record service based on RiC-O, presenting a prototype designed to improve the National Archives of Korea's change information service and enhance user experience.

  • Because of the creation and transfer of born-digital records, file unit-based record description practices have changed fundamentally. In this study, we analyzed the archival description practices of The National Archives (TNA) to maintain intellectual control in the digital records management environment and to support the access to records of users. TNA has created an archival description based on ISAD(G) but, for describing born-digital records, it changed the guideline for descriptive cataloging practices. As the method of ISAD(G) cannot adhere to born-digital records, the next-generation descriptive standard, Records in Contexts (RiC), is still being developed by ICA. In addition to international efforts, we need to build an archival description system that fits our environment, especially because since the year 2000, TNA's online cataloging system has changed and ISAD(G) has been modified in this process. This study also proposed continuous monitoring of digital archival descriptions, provides an integrated approach to analog records and digital content and strengthens experimentation and cooperation toward an uncertain digital future.

  • Along with the development of information technology, the digitalization of archives has also been accelerating. However, digital archives have limitations in effectively searching, interlinking, and understanding records. In response to these issues, this study proposes a knowledge graph that represents comprehensive relationships among heterogeneous entities in digital archives. In this case, the knowledge graph organizes resources in the archives on the Korean financial crisis of 1997 by transforming them into named entities that can be discovered by machines. In particular, the study investigates and creates an overview of the characteristics of the archives on the Korean financial crisis as a digital archive. All resources on the archives are described as entities that have relationships with other entities using semantic vocabularies, such as Records in Contexts-Ontology (RiC-O). Moreover, the knowledge graph of the Korean Financial Crisis of 1997 is represented by resource description framework (RDF) vocabularies, a machine-readable format. Compared to conventional digital archives, the knowledge graph enables users to retrieve a specific entity with its semantic information and discover its relationships with other entities. As a result, the knowledge graph can be used for semantic search and various intelligent services.

  • This study aims to examine the capability of organizing local records. Based on literature reviews, this study identified that space can be a useful context of records. Accordingly, it designed a records model on additional space entity. It attempted to organize five sample records based on the space of the port of Busan (Busanhang) using CIDOC CRM (6.0). In conclusion, it presented that a space entity provides relations across other entities. As such, it is possible to propose a defining space entity when designing records model that can support the understanding of records' contexts.

  • The purpose of the present study lies in understanding the historical context as well as regulatory and administrative restraints of records and archival management system of Korea, with the case of Korean Government Archives and Records Service(GARS). Insights gained from the historical analysis of GARS are expected to provide strategies to develop and reinvent GARS so that the national agency could be the basis of reforming Korean archival system in the future. The present study firstly reviews historical context of 1960s and 1970s, during which GARS was established, as well as its role and hierarchical standing in Korean administrative system. Second, its organizational system is analyzed, focusing on the extent of its specialization and organizational independence. Third, the study proposes to develop strategies to reinvent GARS through reinforcing the public records and archives management act(1999).

  • The new environment for records managements requires the revolutionary transition from paper-record management to electric-record management. Capturing contents, contexts, and structure informations of the electric records to preserve the evidentiality, authenticity, and reliability is the outstanding issue. The recordkeeping metadata has been placed at the center of the current issue. This study focused on the establishment of the structures of recordkeeping metadata for current and semi-current stages in the life cycle of records. The reason concentrated on current and semi-current stages is that the authenticity of the record is concerned as the evidence of the business processes. Current and semi-current stages are where the records is able to be produced, captured and managed in the business context. The metadata can be collected and preserved with authenticity. This study explained the relations between entities concerned with producing records and proposed the metadata elements by establishing data model.

  • Recommender Systems (RecSys) have a major role in e-commerce for recommending products, which they may like for every user and thus improve their business aspects. Although many types of RecSyss are there in the research field, the state of the art RecSys has focused on finding the user similarity based on sequence (e.g. purchase history, movie-watching history) analyzing and prediction techniques like Recurrent Neural Network in Deep learning. That is RecSys has considered as a sequence prediction problem. However, evaluation of similarities among the customers is challenging while considering temporal aspects, context and multi-component ratings of the item-records in the customer sequences. For addressing this issue, we are proposing a Deep Learning based model which learns customer similarity directly from the sequence to sequence similarity as well as item to item similarity by considering all features of the item, contexts, and rating components using Dynamic Temporal Warping(DTW) distance measure for dynamic temporal matching and 2D-GRU (Two Dimensional-Gated Recurrent Unit) architecture. This will overcome the limitation of non-linearity in the time dimension while measuring the similarity, and the find patterns more accurately and speedily from temporal and spatial contexts. Experiment on the real world movie data set LDOS-CoMoDa demonstrates the efficacy and promising utility of the proposed personalized RecSys architecture.

  • Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (1999) Drafted by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. The Act allows the use of electronic records and electronic signatures in any transaction, except transactions subject to the Uniform Commercial Code. The fundamental purpose of this act is to remove perceived barriers to electronic commerce. The Act's a procedural statute. It does not mandate either electronic signatures or records, but provides a means to effectuate transactions when they are used. The primary objective is to establish the legal equivalence of electronic records and signatures with paper writings and manually-signed signatures. With regard to the general scope of the Act, the Act's coverage is inherently limited by the definition of "transaction." The Act does not apply to all writings and signatures, but only to electronic records and signatures relating to a transaction, defined as those interactions between people relating to business, commercial and governmental affairs. The exclusion of specific Articles of the Uniform Commercial Code reflects the recognition that, particularly in the case of Articles 5, 8 and revised Article 9, electronic transactions were addressed in the specific contexts of those revision processes. In the context of Articles 2 and 2A the UETA provides the vehicle for assuring that such transactions may be accomplished and effected via an electronic medium. At such time as Articles 2 and 2A are revised the extent of coverage in those Articles(Acts) may make application of this Act as a gap-filling law desirable. Similar considerations apply to the recently promulgated Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA). Another fundamental premise of the Act is that it be minimalist and procedural. The general efficacy of existing law, in an electronic context, so long as biases and barriers to the medium are removed, confirms this approach. The Act defers to existing substantive law. Specific areas of deference to other law in this Act include: i) the meaning and effect of "sign" under existing law, ii) the method and manner of displaying, transmitting and formatting information in section 8, iii) rules of attribution in section 9, and iv) the law of mistake in section 10.
