  • This paper shows us the analysis of the Recloser-Fuse coordination in power distribution system. Recloser has been installed with fuse to coordinate in power distribution system to protect against fault current efficiently. However, in power distribution system with SFCL, fault current couldn't be clear if occurred it as the operation of the Recloser-Fuse coordination couldn't be done. Therefore, this paper analysed the operation of the Recloser-Fuse coordination and found the method of the Recloser-Fuse coordination in power distribution system with SFCL using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • We analyze the problem of recloser-fuse coordination when a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is installed to a power distribution system. Generally, The recloser is installed to upstream of fuse to protect against both permanent fault and temporary one appropriately. However, in a power distribution system with SFCL, the fault current is decreased by the effect of the impedance value of the SFCL and when a permanent fault occurs, the fuse may not melt during the last delay operation of the recloser because of the insufficient heat from the decreased current. Therefore, when SFCLs are applied into a power distribution system, the rating of the fuse has to be reselected to coordinate recloser to fuse effectively. To solve these problems, this paper analysed the operation of recloser-fuse coordination and presented the improved recloser-fuse coordination method in a power distribution system with SFCL using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • This paper analyzed that the coordination of recloser-fuse when a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is installed to a power distribution system linked small scale cogeneration system. As a rule, the recloser to properly protect against both permanent and temporary fault is installed to upstream of fuse. Therefore, in a power distribution system linked small scale cogeneration system, the fault current is increased by adding fault current of small scale Cogeneration system when a permanent fault occurs, and the fuse could melt during the first fast operation of the recloser because of more sufficient heat from the increased current. However, when SFCLs are applied into a power distribution system linked small scale cogeneration system, the coordination of recloser-fuse could be accomplished due to decreased fault current as the effect of the impedance value of the SFCL. Therefore, to solve these problems, we analysed the operation of recloser-fuse coordination in a power distribution system linked small scale cogeneration system with SFCL using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • This paper shows us the basic protective devices to protect against fault current such as recloser and fuse. Also recloser has been coordinated with fuse in distribution system to protect against fault current efficiently. However, in distribution system with SFCL, recloser-fuse coordination could be different to now and fault current couldn't be clear, if occurred. Therefore, this paper analysed recloser-fuse coordination in distribution system with SFCL using PSCAD/EMTDC

  • Recently, protection coordination issues can occur due to increased fault current in power system when power system being changed radial power system to grid system such as loop power system, micro grid and smart grid. This paper analyzed Recloser-Fuse coordination in loop power distribution system with Superconducting Fault Current Limiters(SFCLs) when single line ground fault occur in loop power distribution system with SFCLs. We analyzed Recloser-Fuse Coordination in radial power distribution system and changed coordination caused by increased Fault current because of loop system when single line ground fault occur in power distribution system. This paper simulated to improve changed coordination using SFCLs in loop power distribution system. Power distribution system, SFCLs and protective devices are modeled using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • This paper analyzed bus voltage sag caused by recloser-fuse coordination in a power distribution system with SFCL. Generally, the recloser is installed to upstream of fuse to clear against both permanent and temporary faults appropriately, when the fault happened and to block expansion of the fault area. Furthermore, when the fault occurred, bus voltage sag is caused by increased fault currents. However, in a power distribution system with SFCL, the fault current could be decreased by the effect of the impedance value of the SFCL and place to install one as long as it could improve bus voltage sag. Therefore, to analyze the effect of the improvement of bus voltage sag caused by recloser-fuse coordination in a power distribution system with SFCL, we used PSCAD/EMTDC about a permanent fault at the place behind the fuse.

  • The TC curve of recloser which used in KEPCO's distribution line is a little different in a pattern with the TC curve of sub-station OCR. So it sometimes fails in protection coordination. And the recloser sometimes does mis-open/close owing to the inrush current of CB reclosing when a fault occurred on the source-side of the recloser. The mis-open/close is another trouble maker. This Paper Present a new delay TC curve of recloser which has the same pattern with the TC curve of OCR, and a new instantaneous TC curve of recloser which doesn't mal-function to the inrush current. In addition, this paper present another two TC curves for the serial positioning of 2 reclosers. So we accomplished the simple protection coordination of OCR-recloser-fuse.

  • Electric power distribution feeders are susceptible to faults caused by a variety of situations such as adverse weather conditions, tree contacts, equipment failure, accidents, etc. Distribution circuit faults result in a number of problems related to the reliability of service and customer power quality. In the distribution line, the permanent interruption of customer service resulting from a blown fuse or a recloser lockout was the only factor which was used to determine service reliability. On underground distribution line, the serving of cables by earth-moving equipment is a prevalent cause of faults and the most cable faults quickly develop into bolted current. we introduce th multi-circuit breaker coordination methods in the Underground Distribution Line.

  • Electric power distribution feeders are susceptible to faults caused by a variety of situations such as adverse weather conditions, tree contacts, equipment failure, accidents, etc. Distribution circuit faults result in a number of problems related to the reliability of service and customer power quality. In the past, the permanent interruption of customer service resulting from a blown fuse or a recloser lockout was the only factor which was used to determine service reliability. So we developed KODAS(Korea Distribution Automation System) with successful and had fieid-testing of Distribution Automation System in last three years at Kang-dong Branch Office. In performing the project, KEPRI has gained valuable experience, through dealing with many difficult problem. This paper is depicted about the circuit breaker coordination problems in the Underground for the Distribution Automation Feeder.
