Background: The efficient knowledge management in hospital organization is generally known as the important activities relevant to employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance. This research examined factors affecting employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance in top 4 university hospitals. This study is based on individual factors such as incentives, reciprocity, behavioral control, and subjective norms. Also, there are organizational factors such as CEO support, learning climate, IT system, rewards system, and trust. Methods: Data was collected from employees who are working at 3 hospitals university in Seoul and 1 university hospital in Gyeonggi-Do through the self-administered questionnaires. A total of 779 questionnaires were analyzed by PASW SPSS ver. 18.0. (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: The significant variables affecting knowledge sharing behavior are behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO, IT system, and trust (in organization factor). Also the significant variables affecting work performance are incentives, reciprocity, subjective norms, and behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO support, IT system, reward system, and trust (in organization factor). Conclusion: The personality and organization characteristics factors is important to improve knowledge sharing behavior and work performance of hospital employees. Therefore, to make more efficient knowledge management is to build and system knowledge sharing culture, system, and leadership and to develop practical strategies.
This study conducted a longitudinal analysis to identify the impact of social capital on depression trajectories in later life. For data analysis, the Korean welfare panel data(2006-2012) was utilized and 4001 older adults aged 65 and older were included in the final sample. The results showed that social trust was significantly associated with depression scores at baseline but did not predicted the rate of change in depression over time. A higher level of reciprocity significantly predicted the faster decline in depression over time. For social participation through donation or volunteer, the percentage of participation was very low and it was not significantly related to depression trajectories. Finally as the satisfaction from social relationship becomes more positive, the rate of change in depression tended to decline faster over time. The results of this study indicates that in order to prevent or delay depression in later life, we should help older adults accumulate positive social capital such as social trust and reciprocity through active social interaction.
Purpose Virtual communities change the way people communicate and share information. The purpose of this paper is to find how internet social capital and individual motivations influence the information sharing in virtual communities. This study considers the social capital theory, individual motivations, information sharing, and community promotion to construct a theoretical model. Design/methodology/approach Social capital focuses on three dimensions that include 6 factors: social interaction ties, centrality, shared language, shared vision, trust and reciprocity. Individual motivations include 2 factors: reputation and enjoy helping. To confirm the research model and the hypotheses, 426 effective questionnaires were used for the final analysis. Findings The result of data analysis demonstrates that social interaction ties, centrality, shared language, trust, and reciprocity were significant in affecting information sharing behaviors. However, reputation, enjoy helping, and shared vision does not appear to have a significant influence on information sharing behaviors. The information sharing was positively related to community promotion.
This study looked at what factors lead to continuous participatory intention of online childrearing community. Trust, reciprocity and perceived security from the perspectives of community attributes and reputation motivation, information motivation, enjoyment motivation and self-monitoring from the users' perspectives were conceived as determinants that might have influences on continuous participatory intention of online childrearing community. It were also empirically tested whether they affect continuous participatory intention of online childrearing community. The moderating effect of self-monitoring was examined, too. In order to collect data, online questionnaires were conducted to women whose ages were 20-49 years old and joined online childrearing community. Their responses were analyzed with a regression analysis. The findings showed that trust, reciprocity and information motivation have influences on continuous participatory intention of online childrearing community. The moderating effect of self-monitoring between reciprocity and continuous participatory intention was also found.

The purpose of this study focuses on finding the influences of social capital on personal happiness by studying service industry employees. This current study utilized a questionnaire survey method which was used to collect the analysis data, from July 20 to August 10 in 2019. 281 questionnaires were gathered in Korea and the statistical analysis was conducted. This study recognized social capital as 3 independent variables and personal happiness as a dependent variable. Social capital is composed of the social network, social trust and social norms. First, the social network consisted of the satisfaction degree in one's social relations and the social interaction degree. Second, social trust is composed of the trust degree with ones neighbors in the same local area. Last, social norms are consisted of reciprocity, participation and a sense of belonging one feels in the same society. The findings of this study were as follows: first, it was found that social network, social trust, and social norms made affirmative influences on personal happiness of the employees. Second, the social network and social norms made statistically significant influences with personal happiness, but social trust was shown to not have similar influence.

Other-regarding preferences (such as trust, reciprocity and altruism) between companies, between consumers and retailers, and between employers and employees are integral elements in determining economic performance. Social trust which is a core element of social capital, especially, is known to reduce transaction costs, help solve collective action problems, and contribute to economic, social, and political development. Therefore, social trust has been given a great deal of attention across an array of academic disciplines for its role in promoting cooperation among individuals and groups, and for its positive influence on economic performance. Most studies describe Korea as a low-trust society than Japan or China. To identify the causes of social trust, this paper focuses on differences of social values (perception on competition and wealth accumulation) in 4 countries (Japan, China, Korea, and United States). Based on World Values Survey data, this paper analyzes effects of the social values on social trust. Social trust was measured by degree to which a respondent thinks that most people can be trusted. Perception on competition was measured by the degree to which a respondent thinks that competition is harmful, and perception on wealth accumulation was done by the degree to which a respondent thinks that wealth can grow so there is enough for everyone. The results showed that social trust was affected by perception on competition and wealth accumulation. A respondent showed higher level of social trust when he (or she) perceived positively competition and wealth accumulation. For enhancing social trust in a country, it is not easy to reduce income inequality and corruption which were reported as causes of social trust by previous studies. Compared to them, social values can be changed more easily by various concrete measures like education and mass-media. Differently from previous studies this paper stresses the concrete measures to enhance social trust in a country.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the independent role of sub-dimensions of job stress, DiSC(R) type of personal behavior, and organizational social capital on job satisfaction and to identify the structural relation among them. Method: Study subjects were 317 registrated nurses employed in 4 general hospitals in a metropolitan city. Results: As the results of multiple regression analysis, the factors influenced independently on overall job satisfaction were as follows; job stress were significantly decreased job satisfaction. Regarding DiSC, job satisfaction of influence type was significantly higher than that of conscientiousness type. Of sub-dimension of OCS, the higher common value and reciprocity were, the high over all job satisfaction, but in a sub-dimension(trust), the relationship was reversed. Major findings of structural equation model analysis were as follows. Regarding DiSC, there were founded only direct effect on job satisfaction(D, i, S>C in relations with peer and others, job performance, retrospectively). Regarding common value of OCS, there were founded significant positive direct effect and indirect effect via job stress on all sub-dimensions of job satisfaction. Regarding trust of OCS, there were founded negative direct effect alone on 2 sub-dimensions of job satisfaction(work itself, job performance). Regarding trust of OCS, there were founded positive direct and indirect effect on satisfaction towards work itself, and indirect effect alone on 2 sub-dimensions(relations with peer and others, job performance). Conclusion: Summing up above finding, to manage job satisfaction of nurses, it is suggested for nursing staffs to provide behavioral training programs according to type of DiSC(R) and to introduce strategic programs fostering organizational social capital such as common vision and reciprocity.
Purpose Virtual communities (VCs) are becoming ever more important in these days, sometimes more than offline communities. Notably, they have become significant sources of knowledge sharing. Therefore, in order to foster a VC, it is very important to understand why people share their knowledge in the VC. Under this background, this paper aims at proposing the behavioral model best explains knowledge sharing activities in VCs. Design/methodology/approach We basically design our behavioral model for knowledge sharing in VCs based on theory of reasoned action (TRA). However, to understand knowledge sharing in VCs better, we specify knowledge sharing by dividing it into knowledge contribution and knowledge use. Also, instead of 'subjective norm', we adopt 'sense of virtual community (SOVC)' as a main social factor, which has been found to be important in the literature. We also include the antecedents such as 'quality of the shared knowledge', 'trust in community members', 'passion of the community leader', 'reciprocity', and 'self efficacy', which affect VC users' attitude towards knowledge sharing and SOVC. To test the hypotheses in our proposed model, we collected 253 valid surveys from the VC users. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using AMOS 23 is employed to assess the relationships proposed as the hypotheses. Findings Major findings are as follows. SOVC positively affects both intention to contribute knowledge and intention to use knowledge. And, trust in community members positively affects the attitude towards knowledge use and SOVC. The attitude towards knowledge use is also affected by the quality of the shared knowledge. Reciprocity is found to strongly positively affect the attitude towards knowledge contribution. However, passion of the community leader and self efficacy are found to have insignificant effect on SOVC and the attitude towards knowledge contribution respectively. Our study sheds a light on how to foster VCs from the perspective of knowledge management.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between subjective happiness and social capital. The data for the analysis were collected via the questionnaire survey method, from October 29 to November 10, 2013. The sample consisted of 338 residents, living in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do province. Social capital is composed of the social network, social trust and social norms. The social network is composed of the satisfaction of one's social relations, and the degree of social interaction. Social trust is composed of the trust in ones's neighbors and the local community. Social norms are composed of reciprocity, participation and a sense of belonging and solidarity. The findings of this study were as follows: 1) The average for subjective happiness was 3.82 points, over neutral. In particular, the subjective happiness of people over 50 years old was highest. 2) The social network, social trust, and social norms were related to the subjective happiness.

The purpose of this paper is to examine relation between trust building level and linkages's spatial characteristics on the logistics & storage industry of Busan. As a result, First, long-term & repeated interaction, information sharing & reciprocity, and interdependence & asset specificity have an important effect upon the micro trust which implies the highest trust. Proximity and uncertainty impact on the meso trust, the trust of middle level. Culture, norm, and formal institution of firms affect the macro trust, the lowest level of trust. Second, the micro, the meso, and the macro trusts mainly form in the local scale where spatial proximity is great. The higher the trust building levels become, the more spatial dimensions by linkage expand to national and international dimension, respectively. Third, these results appear more clearly in the output linkage than input linkage, in the service areas-many firm, in the horizontal linkage than vertical linkage, in the advanced evolution phases of firm connection, and in the supply chain management than outsourcing.
