  • An objective of companies' existence is to make profits and grow steadily. Judging what is reasonable or excessive profit for an industry or a company by a profit figure is practically impossible because it is a matter of value judgement not just fact judgement. But recently construction companies' profit level is under severe argument. The objective of this study is to investigate the level of construction companies' profit level and compare it with other industries in order to identify facts and characteristics in relation to construction companies's profit level.

Study on the algorithm for the Reasonable Switch Automation Rate with Customer Interruption Cost and Reliability Evaluation (정전비용과 신뢰도 분석을 통한 분할 개폐기의 적정 자동화율 도출 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • The addition of disconnect switches to a distribution feeder or the replacement of the manual switches with the automatic switches do, in general, increase reliability by decreasing the duration of the outage of many to the customers on the feeder and reducing the outage section. However, the improvement of reliability in power distribution system causes an increase of the investment cost, for example, replacement costs, labor costs, and so on. For this reason - the balance between investment and reliability improvement - many studies about the appropriate level of investment have been conducted. In this paper, we suggest the algorithm for determining the reasonable switch automation rate in the power distribution system. We evaluate the customer interruption cost and reliability for several cases - these cases relate with the switch automation rate - in the domestic metropolitan power distribution system, estimate the effectiveness of changing the manual switch to automatic switch quantitatively. These results can help the determining on the disconnect switch's automation rate.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the complementary idea of the psychological elements in aesthetic expression of architectural space in the sense of healing. Marks $L\ddot{u}scher$, the swiss psychologist suggested reasonable categories of emotional character according to the couple combinations among Content, Self-Esteem, Confidence, and Liberty. His theory on healing is not only the concept but the practical method to understand and control the conflict between contrary elements of emotion. Compared to the Freud's objective theory of cause and consequence, his idea is focused on the subjective and autonomous harmony. This theory based on complementary idea is applied to psychological attitude of architects on Spatial Expression in this study. Refuge, Prospect, Flow and Void are assumed as equivalent spatial elements to the four major emotional conditions suggested by $M.L\ddot{u}scher$. The couple combinations among them also characterize the architectural characters definitely and it is expected to be the reasonable criteria in analysing aesthetic value and motive of creating human space.

  • In this paper, to prevent overspending of the CM Fee, Agent CM for the normal work-oriented, Willing to separate order model being used in the construction, using a multi-national grouping Go to offer the right company, a number of groups according to the appropriate CM Fee setting is aimed to suggest a reasonable basis. This paper does not use the domestic point of order characteristic of the model, and using a different theory of affinity grouping projection method is presented. The main disadvantage of the domestic order model because it is a contractual relationship, the contractual relationship as unified as possible by the most reasonable way of construction and construction capabilities and commercialization agreement upon the ability of companies also expect to be very helpful. The grouping by using the multi-order construction of the separation problem of the increase and thus the management object construction type administration was to solve the problem.

Analytical solution for natural frequency of monopile supported wind turbine towers

  • In this study an analytical expression is derived for the natural frequency of the wind turbine towers supported on flexible foundation. The derivation is based on a Euler-Bernoulli beam model where the foundation is represented by a stiffness matrix. Previously the natural frequency of such a model is obtained from numerical or empirical method. The new expression is based on pure physical parameters and thus can be used for a quick assessment of the natural frequencies of both the real turbines and the small-scale models. Furthermore, a relationship between the diagonal and non-diagonal element in the stiffness matrix is introduced, so that the foundation stiffness can be obtained from either the p-y analysis or the loading test. The results of the proposed expression are compared with the measured frequencies of six real or model turbines reported in the literature. The comparison shows that the proposed analytical expression predicts the natural frequency with reasonable accuracy. For two of the model turbines, some errors were observed which might be attributed to the difference between the dynamic and static modulus of saturated soils. The proposed analytical solution is quite simple to use, and it is shown to be more reasonable than the analytical and the empirical formulas available in the literature.

  • The current contract awarding process regulated by laws and ordinances is analyzed and more reasonable processes are suggested. To this end, the principle of economic analysis is described with emphasis on the cost-effectiveness analysis, and the laws and ordinances regulating the process are thoroughly examined. The current contract awarding rule is based on the weighted sum of effectiveness score and cost score. This may not conform to the framework of economic analysis where effectiveness is supposed to be measured as an output and cost measured as an input. An improvement is attempted to the defense acquisition system and it is recognized that the economic analysis and policy consideration should be performed separately. Concept of statistical testing is introduced to see if the results of the cost effectiveness analyses show the significant difference between the alternatives. It is suggested that the contract awarding process can be improved by performing significance test followed by the aggregation of the two analyses. A minor improvement is also suggested on the application of current rules.

Long-Term Shoreline Change and Evaluation of Total Longshore Sediment Transport Rate on Hupo Beach (후포해빈에서 해안선의 장기변화 및 전연안표사량의 추정)

  • The harbor siltation by longshore sediment transports has become a serious problem on the East Coast of Korea. A reasonable prediction of the longshore sediment rate is important to approach the siltation problem effectively. In the recently developed 1-line model, the empirical constants of the sediment transport formula, which include the absolute quantity of sediment transport rate and the spatial distribution of breaking wave height by wave deformation, are treated as calibration parameters. Since these constants should be determined by the very long-term shoreline data, the longshore sediment rates are much more reasonable values. The method was applied to Hupo Beach, which has experienced heavy siltation. The authors also discuss long-term shoreline change using aerial photos and the observed wave-induced current patterns. According to the result, the SW-direction sediment transport rate was $146,892m^3/year$, and the NE direction was $2,694,450m^3/year$ at Hupo Beach for the last 11 years. The siltation in Hupo Harbor might be affected by the NE-direction sediment transport from Hupo Beach.

  • Urban public service is goods and activities which satisfy public demands for the political, social, economic, cultural activity and household affairs of individual or groups and which urban government supply with free of charge. In view of government, in addition to fairness of facilities location, location of such facilities are to be determined the respect to cost of locating facilities and developmental direction in the future. Therefore, it is necessary to study on feasibility. A feasibility study Is an effective tool in determining the decision of investment or not and the level of investment priority on Projects requiring a sizeable investment and the feasibility of a project. The first, it is to select reasonable location. It was selected four and two by consideration of facilities distribution and connection with others. Six proposal selected was estimated by five element of approach, demand, symbol, reality, environment. In result proposal I was chosen. The next, it is to estimate scales. The finally, it is to study on economical efficiency. Net Present Value was came out ₩4.4billion by 20years and Inter Rate of Return showed up 11%. in addition, it offer various benefit by public facilities. In conclusion, this project is reasonable.

  • Transmission error (TE) is the most important cause of gear noise and vibration because TEs affect the changes of the force and the speed of gears. TE is usually expressed as an angular deviation, or a linear deviation measured at the pitch point and calculated at successive positions of the pinion as it goes through the meshing cycle. Accurate measurement of TE for gear transmission will provide a reasonable basis for gear design, manufacturing processes and quality control. Therefore, in order to study the accuracy of the gear transmission, stability, TE, vibration and noise after gear micro-geometry modification, a gear transmission test rig is proposed in this paper, which is based on the existing technical conditions, by using reasonable testing methods, hardware and a signal processing method. All of the details and the experience can be taken into consideration in the next upgraded test rig.

Images of Hanji-Bedclothes According to Bedclothes Shopping Orientation (침구 쇼핑성향에 따른 한지 침구류 이미지 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines shopping orientation regarding bedclothes and the effect of the segmentation of consumers on the image of Hanji yarn bedclothes derived from mulberry fiber in order to contribute to the development of Hanji bedclothes products and consumer marketing segmentation. Data from 294 questionnaires filled out by female consumers in their 30s to 50s were used for statistical analysis. The shopping orientations for bedclothes are classified into six groups (trend oriented, material oriented, price oriented, convenience oriented, individuality oriented, and assurance oriented). Consumers were subdivided into four consumer segments (show-offish, self-confident, reasonable, and unconcerned case) based on shopping orientations for bedclothes. The images of Hanji bedclothes are categorized into four types (classic, practical, aesthetic, and natural) as related to the shopping orientations of consumers. In terms of consumer segmentation, the 'reasonable' segment is more likely to consider the 'classic' image of Hanji bedclothes as the highest image value; however, the 'show-offish' segment provides the highest value to the 'practical' image as compared to other segments.
