Object-oriented real-time system modeling considering predicatable timing constraints (시간 제약 분석이 가능한 객체 지향 실시간 시스템 모델링)

  • In the case of developing the real-time system using object-oriented method, k the problem of the timing constraints is certainly considered. we propose the method of modeling the object-oriented real-time system using the OMT methodology and the SDL. And we also present the predictable time table that reflects the constraints of real-time system into dynamic model of OMTs and the predicatable time formula of the sequence, repeat, and parallel routine. The proposed method is applied to the estimate of the maximum process time of the ATMs(Automatic teller machines) and is used to specifying the functional specification for the user interface of the ATMs using the SDL syntax and the object interaction graph.

A Dual Modeling Method for a Real-Time Palpation Simulator

  • This paper presents a dual modeling method that simulates the graphic and haptic behavior of a volumetric deformable object and conveys the behavior to a human operator. Although conventional modeling methods (a mass-spring model and a finite element method) are suitable for the real-time computation of an object's deformation, it is not easy to compute the haptic behavior of a volumetric deformable object with the conventional modeling method in real-time (within a 1kHz) due to a computational burden. Previously, we proposed a fast volume haptic rendering method based on the S-chain model that can compute the deformation of a volumetric non-rigid object and its haptic feedback in real-time. When the S-chain model represents the object, the haptic feeling is realistic, whereas the graphical results of the deformed shape look linear. In order to improve the graphic and haptic behavior at the same time, we propose a dual modeling framework in which a volumetric haptic model and a surface graphical model coexist. In order to inspect the graphic and haptic behavior of objects represented by the proposed dual model, experiments are conducted with volumetric objects consisting of about 20,000 nodes at a haptic update rate of 1000Hz and a graphic update rate of 30Hz. We also conduct human factor studies to show that the haptic and graphic behavior from our model is realistic. Our experiments verify that our model provides a realistic haptic and graphic feeling to users in real-time.

  • In this paper, we propose a real-time virtual model synchronization algorithm using object feature detection. The proposed algorithm may be useful to synchronize between real objects and their corresponding virtual models through object feature search in two-dimensional images. It consists of an algorithm to classify objects with colors individually, and an algorithm to analyze the orientation of objects with angles. We can synchronize the motion of the real object with the virtual model by providing the environment of moving the virtual object through the hand without specific controllers. The future research will include the algorithm to synchronize real object with unspecified shapes, colors, and directions to the corresponding virtual object.

Real-time Object Recognition with Pose Initialization for Large-scale Standalone Mobile Augmented Reality

  • Mobile devices such as smartphones are very attractive targets for augmented reality (AR) services, but their limited resources make it difficult to increase the number of objects to be recognized. When the recognition process is scaled to a large number of objects, it typically requires significant computation time and memory. Therefore, most large-scale mobile AR systems rely on a server to outsource recognition process to a high-performance PC, but this limits the scenarios available in the AR services. As a part of realizing large-scale standalone mobile AR, this paper presents a solution to the problem of accuracy, memory, and speed for large-scale object recognition. To this end, we design our own basic feature and realize spatial locality, selective feature extraction, rough pose estimation, and selective feature matching. Experiments are performed to verify the appropriateness of the proposed method for realizing large-scale standalone mobile AR in terms of efficiency and accuracy.

An Implementation of SoC FPGA-based Real-time Object Recognition and Tracking System (SoC FPGA 기반 실시간 객체 인식 및 추적 시스템 구현)

  • Recent some SoC FPGA Releases that integrate ARM processor and FPGA fabric show better performance compared to the ASIC SoC used in typical embedded image processing system. In this study, using the above advantages, we implement a SoC FPGA-based Real-Time Object Recognition and Tracking System. In our system, the video input and output, image preprocessing process, and background subtraction processing were implemented in FPGA logics. And the object recognition and tracking processes were implemented in ARM processor-based programs. Our system provides the processing performance of 5.3 fps for the SVGA video input. This is about 79 times faster processing power than software approach based on the Nios II Soft-core processor, and about 4 times faster than approach based the HPS processor. Consequently, if the object recognition and tracking system takes a design structure combined with the FPGA logic and HPS processor-based processes of recent SoC FPGA Releases, then the real-time processing is possible because the processing speed is improved than the system that be handled only by the software approach.

Real-Time Correction Based on wheel Odometry to Improve Pedestrian Tracking Performance in Small Mobile Robot (소형 이동 로봇의 사람 추적 성능 개선을 위한 휠 오도메트리 기반 실시간 보정에 관한 연구)

  • With growth in intelligence of mobile robots, interaction with humans is emerging as a very important issue for mobile robots and the pedestrian tracking technique following the designated person is adopted in many cases in a way that interacts with humans. Among the existing multi-object tracking techniques for pedestrian tracking, Simple Online and Realtime Tracking (SORT) is suitable for small mobile robots that require real-time processing while having limited computational performance. However, SORT fails to reflect changes in object detection values caused by the movement of the mobile robot, resulting in poor tracking performance. In order to solve this performance degradation, this paper proposes a more stable pedestrian tracking algorithm by correcting object tracking errors caused by robot movement in real time using wheel odometry information of a mobile robot and dynamically managing the survival period of the tracker that tracks the object. In addition, the experimental results show that the proposed methodology using data collected from actual mobile robots maintains real-time and has improved tracking accuracy with resistance to the movement of the mobile robot.

  • Real-time(RT) object-oriented(OO) distributed computing is a form of RT distributed computing realized with a distributed computer system structured in the form of an object network. Several approached proposed in recent years for extending the conventional object structuring scheme to suit RT applications, are briefly reviewed. Then the approach named the TMO(Time-triggered Message-triggered Object)structuring scheme was formulated with the goal of instigating a quantum productivity jump in the design of distributed time triggered simulation. The TMO scheme is intended to facilitate the pursuit of a new paradigm in designing distributed time triggered simulation which is to realize real-time computing with a common and general design style that does not alienate the main-stream computing industry and yet to allow system engineers to confidently produce certifiable distributed time tiggered simulation for safety-critical applications. The TMO structuring scheme is a syntactically simple but semantically powerful extension of the conventional object structuring approached and as such, its support tools can be based on various well-established OO programming languages such as C++ and on ubiquitous commercial RT operating system kernels. The Scheme enables a great reduction of the designers efforts in guaranteeing timely service capabilities of application systems.

The Camera Tracking of Real-Time Moving Object on UAV Using the Color Information (컬러 정보를 이용한 무인항공기에서 실시간 이동 객체의 카메라 추적)

  • This paper proposes the real-time moving object tracking system UAV using color information. Case of object tracking, it have studied to recognizing the moving object or moving multiple objects on the fixed camera. And it has recognized the object in the complex background environment. But, this paper implements the moving object tracking system using the pan/tilt function of the camera after the object's region extraction. To do this tracking system, firstly, it detects the moving object of RGB/HSI color model and obtains the object coordination in acquired image using the compact boundary box. Secondly, the camera origin coordination aligns to object's top&left coordination in compact boundary box. And it tracks the moving object using the pan/tilt function of camera. It is implemented by the Labview 8.6 and NI Vision Builder AI of National Instrument co. It shows the good performance of camera trace in laboratory environment.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for planning an optimal path to capture a moving object by a mobile robot in real-time. The direction and rotational angular velocity of the moving object are estimated using the Kalman filter, a state estimator. It is demonstrated that the moving object is tracked by using a 2-DOF active camera mounted on the mobile robot and then captured by a mobile manipulator. The optimal path to capture the moving object is dependent on the initial conditions of the mobile robot, and the real-time planning of the robot trajectory is definitely required for the successful capturing of the moving object. Therefore the algorithm that determines the optimal path to capture a moving object depending on the initial conditions of the mobile robot and the conditions of a moving object is proposed in this paper. For real-time implementation, the optimal representative blocks have been utilized for the experiments to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
