  • The Tactical Data Link System(TDLS) is a standardized communication link to exchange and interface positional, situational information, command and control in real time. It has been evaluated that the link would play an important role for tactical interoperability, situation awareness, and execution of joint operations in the future war. This work presents how to embody the TDLS through the systems engineering approach on the base of TDLS operating concept analysis of helicopters-groud units.

Link-16 기반의 효율적인 공대지 항공작전 모델 설계 (Establishment for Efficiency Air-To-Ground Air Operation Model in Link-16)

  • As CAS, X-ATK, and INT models considered as the most typical Air-to-Ground operation models in ROKAF are mainly designed as the voice-centered system between aircraft and ground control facilities, it is critical to newly develop the Link-16 based model for the ROK-US combined operation between F-15K, AWACS, M-SAM, and KDX-III equipped with Link-16. Former studies had been limited to the CAS operation, and they had mainly focused on reducing the voice transmission time to exchange the information between each mission step with maintaining existing operation steps. Therefore, this paper makes up the weak point in former studies, thereby designing new Air-to-Ground operation model for CAS, X-ATK, INT mission using Enterprise Architecture OV6c, which enables both aircraft and ground control facilities or between aircraft to obtain the real-time information on the location, identification, armament and the real-time image data through the broadcasting function. Based on the analysis of new operation model, we come to a conclusion that by simultaneously exchanging the information on mission between nodes concerned through the broadcasting function of Link-16. It is possible to cut down superfluous steps among the mission steps, and to reduce the mission time. It is clear that it gives rise to improve the battle efficiency and the decision-making tempo as well as the battlefield situational awareness.

MODELS AND SOLUTION METHODS FOR SHORTEST PATHS IN A NETWORK WITH TIME-DEPENDENT FLOW SPEEDS

  • The Shortest Path Problem in Time-dependent Networks, where the travel time of each link depends on the time interval, is not realistic since the model and its solution violate the Non-passing Property (NPP:often referred to as FIFO) of real phenomena. Furthermore, solving the problem needs much more computational and memory complexity than the general shortest path problem. A new model for Time-dependent Networks where the flow speeds of each link depend on time interval, is suggested. The model is more realistic since its solution maintains the NPP. Solving the problem needs just a little more computational complexity, and the same memory complexity, as the general shortest path problem. A solution algorithm modified from Dijkstra's label setting algorithm is presented. We extend this model to the problem of Minimum Expected Time Path in Time-dependent Stochastic Networks where flow speeds of each link change statistically on each time interval. A solution method using the Kth-shortest Path algorithm is presented.

Control of a Flexible Link with Time Delays

  • This paper presents a control method for time-delay systems and verifies the performance of the designed control system via real experiments. Specifically, the control method is applied to a flexible-link system with time delays. The method combines time- and frequency-domain controllers: linear quadratic optimal controller (or LQR) and lag compensator. The LQR is used to stabilize the system in optimal fashion, whereas the lag compensator is used to compensate time-delay effects by increasing the delay margin of the system. With this methodology, the maximum allowable time delay can be increased significantly. The proposed method is simple but quite practical for time-delay system control as it is based on the conventional loop-shaping method, which gives practical insights on delay-phase relationship. Simulation and experiment results show that the method presented in this paper is feasible and practical.

Design of Airborne Terminal System for Joint Tactical Data Link System Complete Data-link

  • In this paper, design measure were proposed for the construction of terminal systems for airborne platforms, which are key element in the Joint Tactical Data Link System (JTDLS) complete system. The Korean perfect tactical data link (JTDLS) is a communication system to establish an independent tactical data link network and needs to develop a MIDS-LVT (Link-16) communication terminal for datalink. Once a Ground/Navy JTDLS terminal system is established around airborne platform, it will be possible to break away from reliance on NATO-based tactical data link joint operations and establish independent Korean surveillance reconnaissance real-time data sharing and tactical data link operations concepts. in this paper, the essential development elements of airborne platform mounting and operable JTDLS terminals are presented, and the concept of system design is proposed to embody them. Further, improved system performance was analyzed by applying the concepts of complex relative navigation system and Advanced TDMA protocol for the deployment of airborne tactical datalink networks.

구간통행속도 추정을 위한 고속도로 검지기자료 처리기법 개발 (Quality of Departure Time Based On-line Link Travel Time Estimates)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 출발시각기준 실시간 링크통행시간 추정정보의 질을 평가하는 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 통행시간 정보의 질을 정확성(추정오차)과 신속성(시간처짐) 측면에서 평가하였다. 그리고 통행시간 정보의 질과 링크길이 및 혼잡수준과의 관계를 규명하였다. 분석결과, 출발시각기준 실시간 링크통행시간 추정정보의 정확성과 신속성은 서로 상충관계임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 정확성을 나타내는 '추정오차' 는 계통오차(systematic error)와 혼잡수준을 반영하는 평균자승오차(MSEE)로 구성되는 것으로 분석되었다 시간처짐은 '최소시간처짐', '혼잡에 의한 시간처짐', '갱신간격에 의한 시간처짐'으로 구분하여 평가하였다. 이를 실제 AVI자료에 적용한 결과, 링크길이와 혼잡수준에 관계없이 추정오차가 5%일 때, 시간처짐은 약 10분 정도 발생하는 것으로 나타났다.

KNN 알고리즘을 활용한 고속도로 통행시간 예측 (Expressway Travel Time Prediction Using K-Nearest Neighborhood)

  • 실시간 자료를 반영한 통행시간 예측 기법은 다양하지만 관련 연구 검토 결과 과거이력데이터가 충분하다면 타 모형에 비해 K 최대근접이웃(K-Nearest Neighbors)의 정확도가 우수하므로 본 연구에서는 이에 대한 적용 방법 도출 및 가능성 평가를 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 KNN의 입력 자료로 TCS 교통량 및 DSRC 구간통행시간의 실시간 및 과거 이력자료, 경로통행시간 이력자료를 활용하였다. 통행시간 예측치는 TCS 교통량 및 DSRC 구간통행시간의 실시간 자료와 유사한 경로통행시간을 탐색한 후 이를 가중평균하여 산출하였다. 예측 기법을 적용한 결과 DSRC 구간통행시간의 가중치가 증가할수록 정확도는 증가하였으며, 이는 실시간 교통상황 변화를 DSRC 구간통행시간이 잘 반영하기 때문이다. 그러나 TCS 교통량을 기반으로 한 경우 역시 정확도의 차이가 크지 않으며, 변화 추이도 유사하게 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 볼 때 향후 대용량의 과거이력자료가 축적될 경우 예측오차는 더욱 감소될 것으로 기대된다.

다중 전술 데이터링크 데이터 관리에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Multi-Tactical Data Link Data Management)

  • 한국군은 Link-11, Link-16 과 Link-K를 적용한 한국형 전술 데이터링크 체계 JTDLS(: Joint Tactical Data Link System)를 운용하고 있다. Link-11에서 Link-22로의 교체 시점이 도래함에 따라 JTDLS 완성형 사업에서는 기존의 전술 데이터링크 외에 Link-22 등의 전술 데이터링크 처리가 추가될 예정이다. 다양한 전술 데이터링크 메시지 처리를 위해 본 논문에서는 Link-K, Link-16, KVMF 등 다중 전술 데이터링크의 데이터를 처리 할 수 있는 데이터 관리 구조를 제안하고, DLP 측면에서 많은 데이터를 빠르게 처리하는 방안을 찾기 위한 Shared Memory, In-Memory DB, 자체개발 DB를 이용하여 모의시험을 진행하고, 그 결과를 확인해 보고자 한다.

A Robust Wearable u-Healthcare Platform in Wireless Sensor Network

  • Wireless sensor network (WSN) is considered to be one of the most important research fields for ubiquitous healthcare (u-healthcare) applications. Healthcare systems combined with WSNs have only been introduced by several pioneering researchers. However, most researchers collect physiological data from medical nodes located at static locations and transmit them within a limited communication range between a base station and the medical nodes. In these healthcare systems, the network link can be easily broken owing to the movement of the object nodes. To overcome this issue, in this study, the fast link exchange minimum cost forwarding (FLE-MCF) routing protocol is proposed. This protocol allows real-time multi-hop communication in a healthcare system based on WSN. The protocol is designed for a multi-hop sensor network to rapidly restore the network link when it is broken. The performance of the proposed FLE-MCF protocol is compared with that of a modified minimum cost forwarding (MMCF) protocol. The FLE-MCF protocol shows a good packet delivery rate from/to a fast moving object in a WSN. The designed wearable platform utilizes an adaptive linear prediction filter to reduce the motion artifacts in the original electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. Two filter algorithms used for baseline drift removal are evaluated to check whether real-time execution is possible on our wearable platform. The experiment results shows that the ECG signal filtered by adaptive linear prediction filter recovers from the distorted ECG signal efficiently.
