The KIER expressway mode was constructed from actual speed-versus-time traces generated by an instrumented test car driven a variety of expressways. This mode reflects the correct proportion of operation on each of the six expressways and preserves the non-steady-state characteristics of real driving. The average speed of the mode is 79.43 km/h and the mode length is 16.22 km.
The study aims to analyzed and identify the heat transfer characteristics of heating unit for car using experimental method in order to design DPH. The temperature comparison processes were done with various experimental conditions. In addition, the optimal conditions of DPH design were proposed as field test in real car, hot air flow, transient situation.

The performance of water spray system installed to reduce risks of tunnel fire is investigated by a real tunnel fire test. In case of A class fire, Pool fire, and car fire, the nozzle of water spray has had a marvelous effect to reduce the temperature of hot smoke. And it is verified to have remarkable cooling effects when there is the air flow in a tunnel. Though this results, water spray system will be able to prevent a fire jump to decrease the air temperature in a tunnel and to protect tunnel facilities by the fire control.

In this paper, security mechanism of internal network(CAN) of vehicle is a very incomplete state and the possibility of external threats as a way to build a test environment that you can easily buy from the market by the vehicle's ECU(Electric Control Unit) to verify and obtain a CAN message. Then, by applying it to ECU of the real car to try to attack is proposed. A recent study, Anyone can see plain-text status of the CAN message in the vehicle. so that in order to verify the information is vulnerable to attack from outside, analyze the data in a vehicle has had a successful attack, but attack to reverse engineering in the stationary state and buying a car should attempt has disadvantages that spatial, financial, and time costs occurs. Found through the car's ECU CAN message is applied to a real car for Potential threats outside of the car to perform an experiment to verify and equipped with a wireless network environment, the experimental results, proposed method through in the car to make sure the attack is possible. As a result, reduce the costs incurred in previous studies and in the information absence state of the car, potential of vehicle's ECU attack looks.
This paper presents safety assessment scenarios for cyclist autonomous emergency braking(AEB) system. To assess the safety performance of AEB in real traffic situation with limited number of scenarios, scenario should reflect the characteristics of real traffic collision cases. For this, statistic data of real traffic car-to-cyclist collision in Korea are analyzed. Many types of accidents are listed and categorized based on the movement of vehicle and cycle just before the collision. Then, the characteristics, main issues and limitations of each scenarios are discussed. Not only the test scenario itself but also the cost and time for the test are very important issues for the test scenarios to actually repeat the test for various systems. Also, the performance of AEB can be effected by the algorithm of AEB and the technical limitation of the sensors and hardwares. Therefore, required number of tests, possibility of dummy destruction and other technical issues are discussed for each scenarios. Based on these information, typical scenarios are selected. Also, using this information, vehicle speed range, cyclist speed and collision point are established. Proposed scenarios are verified and modified based on the vehicle test results. vehicle test was evaluated 5 times for each scenarios. Based on this results, final test scenarios are modified and proposed.

The priority of Crashworthiness concept for rolling stock is progressively increasing to reduce the damage of drivers and passengers as well as the car. For the first step of this research, the analysis of the crash elements have been performed. Also the longitudinal collapse force and mode is important point for whole carbody structure to guarantee the lower force at end part rather than the main passenger area. The carbody quasi-static collapse analysis and real test has been performed in the research. The crash elements FEA and test has been performed as well. After the initial Analysis and test, the correlation analysis between the FEA and test has been performed by FEA tunning. All this result will be used for real crashworthiness design for carbody structure.

The safety analysis becomes very essential in the crash environment with the growth of automobile industry. Recently, an airbag system is required to protect the occupant. The effects of an airbag can be evaluated exactly from the barrier or sled test which is quite expensive. The airbag system in a passenger car is analyzed with the occupant analysis program. The modeling of the passenger car including an airbag is established and the results are verified by comparisons with real crash tests. However, the solution of an airbag design can not be obtained easily with the conventional method such as an optimization due to the nonlinearity and complexity of the problem. An iterative design algorithm using the orthogonal array is proposed to overcome the difficulties. The design trend of an airbag is recommended to minimize the injury of an occupant with the proposed design algorithm and the results are discussed.

In this paper, we propose a car sealing monitoring system combined with ICT Technology. The automobile sealer is an adhesive used to bond inner and outer panels of doors, hoods and trunks of an automobile body. The proposed car sealer monitoring system is a system that can accurately and automatically inspect the condition of the automobile sealer coating process in the general often factory production line where the lighting change is very severe. The sealer inspection module checks the state of the applied sealer using an area scan camera. The vision inspection algorithm is adaptive to various lighting environments to determine whether the sealer is defective or not. The captured images and test results are configured to send the task results to the task manager in real-time as a smartphone app. Vision inspection algorithms in the plant outdoors are very vulnerable to time-varying external light sources and by configuring a monitoring system based on smart mobile equipment, it is possible to perform production monitoring regardless of time and place. The applicability of this method was verified by applying it to an actual automotive sealer application process.
This paper presents a developing procedure of the CAN-based real-time simulator for car body control, aiming at replacing the actual W/H (Wiring Harness) and J/B(Junction Box) couple eventually. The CAN protocol, as one kind of field-bus communication, defines the lowest 2 layers of the ISO/OSI standard, namely, the physical layer(PL) and the data link layer(DLL), for which the CSMA/NBA protocol is generally adopted. For CPU, two PIC18Fxx8x's are used because of their built-in integration of CAN controller, large internal FLASH memory (48K or 64K), and their costs. To control J/B's and actuators, 2 controller boards are separately implemented, between which CAN lines communicate through CAN transceivers MCP255. A power motor for washing windshield, 1 door lock motor, and 6 blink lamps are chosen for actuators of the simulator for the first stage. For the software architecture, a polling method is used for the fast global response time despite its slow individual response time. To improve the individual response time and to escape from some eventual trapped-function loops, High/Low ports of the CPU are simply used, which increases the stability of the actuator modules. The experimental test shows generally satisfactory results in normal transmitting / receiving function and message trace function. This simulator based on CAN shows a promising usefulness of lighter, more reliable and intelligent distributed body control approach than the conventional W/H and J/B couple. Another advantage of this approach lies in the distributed control itself, which gives better performance in hard real-time computing than centralized one, and in the ability of integrating different modules through CAN.

The diesel engine exhaust gas is know as one of the causes to produce photochemical smog, which causes damage on environmental. However, due to the high thermal efficiency and low carbon dioxide emission, the usage of a diesel engine is prevailed. In this study, the DC non-thermal plasma technology used to the particulate matter (PM) aftertreatment. The exhaust gas characteristics and energy density were investigated on the dynamometer test bed and chassis dynamometer with CVS-75 mode in a passenger diesel car. It was reported that the smoke removal efficiency has around the 70% in the dynamometer test with 80W energy consumption and the PM removal efficiency has the 68% in the real car test. The NOx also reduced the 20% according to electrode type respectively. Considering these results, plasma technology is one of the ways to simultaneously removing method the particulate matter (PM) and NOx.
