  • In this paper, we design and implement a query processor of real-time main memory database systems, which reflect the characteristics of main memory database systems and satisfy timing constraints. The proposed query processor manages real-time data that has timing constraint by exploiting meta database. It supports CLI in order to make application programs. It also supports extended CLI and stored CLI. The former can be expressed the Information on real-time transaction. The latter is designed to support frequently processed transaction. The proposed query processor is implemented as query processor of real-time database management systems. We Present performance evaluation results that illustrate ratio of transaction, which satisfy deadline are increased by the query processing ability of system and the efficient management of real-time data.

  • Real time PCR was used to discriminate Colletotrichum acutatum and C. gloeosporioides for analysis of population density. Two primers, caInt2 and cgint, used for conventional PCR to discriminate two species were modified with fluorescent dye to make probe for real time PCR. Fluorescence signals were successfully detected by fCaInt2 and vCgint probe coupled with primer pair Unicon and Unicor1 resulting in discrimination of C. acutatum and C. gloeosporioides by comparison of delta Rn value.

  • Vibrio vulnificusis a causative agent of serious diseases in humans resulting from the contact of wound with seawater or consumption of raw seafood. Several studies aimed at detecting V. vulnificus have targeted vvh as a representative virulence toxin gene belonging to the bacterium. In this study, we targeted the rpoS gene, a general stress regulator, to detect V. vulnificus. PCR specificity was identified by amplification of 8 V. vulnificus templates and by the loss of a PCR product with 36 non-V. vulnificus strains. The PCR assay had the 273-bp fragment and the sensitivity of 10 pg DNA from V. vulnificus. SYBR Green I-based real-time PCR assay targeting the rpoS gene showed a melting temperature of approximately $84^{\circ}C$ for V. vulnificus strains. The minimum level of detection by real-time PCR was 2 pg of purified genomic DNA, or $10^3$ V. vulnificus cells from pure cultured broth and $10^3$ cells in 1g of oyster tissue homogenates. These data indicate that real-time PCR is a sensitive, species-specific, and rapid method for detecting this bacterium using the rpoS gene in pure cultures and in infected oyster tissues.

  • This paper describes a message model based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language) to present real-time data from sensors and instruments at manufacturing processes for web service. HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is inadequate for describing real-time data from process control plants while it is suitable for displaying non-real-time multimedia data on web. For XML-based web service of process data, XML format for the data presentation was proposed after investigating data of various instruments at steel-making plants. Considering transmission delay inevitably caused from increased message length and processing delay from transformation of raw data into defined format, which was critical for operation of a real-time system, its performance was evaluated by simulation. In the simulation, we assumed two implementation models for conducting the transformation function. In one model, transformation was done at an SCC (Supervisory Control Computer) after receiving real-time data from instruments. In the other model, transformation had been carried out at instruments before the data were transmitted to the SCC. Various tests had been conducted under different conditions of offered loads and data lengths and their results were described.

  • It is crucial to predict water temperature for aquatic ecosystem studies and management. In this paper, we first address challenging issues in predicting water temperature in a real time manner and propose a distributed computing model to address such issues. Then, we present an Artificial Neural Network (ANN)-based water temperature prediction model developed for the Soyang River and a cyberinfrastructure system called WT-Agabus to run such prediction models in an automated and real time manner. The ANN model is designed to use only weather forecast data (air temperature and rainfall) that can be obtained by invoking the weather forecasting system at Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and therefore can facilitate the automated and real time water temperature prediction. This paper also demonstrates how easily and efficiently the real time prediction can be implemented with the WT-Agabus prototype system.

  • To construct distance learing servers and provide their service using the WWW(World Wide Web), it is necessary that we use a real-time processing mehtod rather than the processing after downloading method for multimedia data transmission and their processing. To fulfill such requirements, we developed a real-time processing muduloe for distance education which can process multimedia data in AVI and WAV formats in distrbuted eviroments. We in turn developede a real-time WWW server that can provide real-time services of hypertxt and motion poctures data in temsw of adding the real-time porcessing modute to the MuX framework and intergarting them with WWW. We frnally developed as distance lerming system for real-time interactive chinese character learming, bassed on the results from the pre-vious steps.

  • This paper considers the design technique of the real-time control algorithm to implement the electronic interlocking system which is the most important station control system in railway signal field. The proposed technique consists of the structure design and the detail design which are based on the ROOM(Real-Time Object-Oriented Modeling). The structure design is designed with a modeling using the heuristic search technique which, at first, catch and make out the specific requested condition, and then, is designed on the requested condition. The detail design can be implemented if it may get the satisfying values through the repetitive modeling after comparing and examining the data obtained from the structure design in order for the more reliable and accurate system to be implemented. The technique proposed in this paper is implemented with C++ language which is easy to be transferred and compatible with the existing interfaces, and also the operating system is designed and simulated on the VRTX which is a real-time operating system. This proposed technique is applied to the typical station model in order to prove the validity as verifying the performance of the modeled station.

  • For real-time wireless sensor network applications, it is essential to provide different levels of quality of service (QoS) such as reliability, low latency, and fault-tolerant traffic control. To meet these requirements, an (m,k)-firm based real-time routing protocol has been proposed in our prior work, including a novel local transmission status indicator called local DBP (L_DBP). In this paper, a fault recovery scheme for (m,k)-firm real-time streams is proposed to improve the performance of our prior work, by contributing a delay-aware forwarding candidates selection algorithm for providing restricted redundancy of packets on multipath with bounded delay in case of transmission failure. Each node can utilize the evaluated stream DBP (G_DBP) and L_DBP values as well as the deadline information of packets to dynamically define the forwarding candidate set. Simulation results show that for real-time service, it is possible to achieve both reliability and timeliness in the fault recovery process, which consequently avoids dynamic failure and guarantees meeting the end-to-end QoS requirement.

  • n this paper, we implement the real-time scheduler which performs extended schedulability testing, to reconfigure Mach kernel in which Real-Time scheduling is possible. for this purpose, first, we propose the configuration factors according to requirements of Real-Time operation systems and we analyze a Real-time scheduling algorithm. Second, for the reconfiguration of Mach kernel, we propose the modified data structure through the analysis of Mach kernel environments and scheduling. Third, we suggest the extended scheduling method by analyzing conventional Real-Time scheduling policies. Fourth, we implement the scheduler which executes tasks according to the Earliest-Deadline-First scheduling and the Rate Monotonic scheduling.

  • In this paper, we propose the haptic system for the real-time virtual environment-control, which controls the sense of sight, hearing and touch. In order to maintain the stable haptic system in this study, we apply the proxy force rendering algorithm and the real-time graphic deformation algorithm based on the FEM. The applied proxy algorithm makes the system possible to be more stable and prompt with a virtual object. Moreover, the haptic rendering algorithm is applied to work out a problem that the tactual transaction-period is different from the graphic transaction- period. The graphic deformation algorithm is developed in the real-time using the deformed FEM. To apply the FEM, a deformed material-model is produced and then the graphic deformation with this model is able to force. Consequently, the graphic rendering algorithm is deduced by the real-time calculation and simplification because the purpose of this system is to transact in the real time. Applying this system to the PC, we prove that it is possible to deform the graphics and transact the haptic. Finally we suggest the variable simulation program to show the efficiency of this system.
