  • This study was to increase the practical preparation of nursing students by identifying how their professionalism, self-leadership, and caring character affect their practical preparation. This study targeted 182 fourth-year students with at least one year of clinical practice experience attending nursing departments at four universities in two regions from April 10 to May 12, 2023. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. As a result of this study, the factor affecting the practical preparation of nursing students was found to be caring personality (β=0.72, p<0.001), the explanatory power of the variables was 51.3%(F=189.41, p<0.001). The results showed that caring personality had an effect on practical readiness. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary to develop various programs related to caring character in order to increase the practical preparation of nursing students.

  • Recently as the advent of knowledge-based competition, the major industrialized countries including Korea, are expanding their R&D investment and promoting policies for diffusing of R&D performance. For this, NASA, DoD and such agencies in the United States define Technology Readiness Level (TRL) as a quantified indicator for performance management, and also impose Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) as a evaluation system, that evaluates technology maturity using TRL. These tools are judged to be very effective in R&D projects especially with the object of practical use. When this concept is applied to the domestic national construction and transportation R&D project for the purpose of practical use, it is expected that the evaluation system overcomes its weakness of focusing only on academic results and improves significantly on intent of achieving practical use. Thus in this study, TRL/TRA implementation model of construction and transportation R&D project for achieving purpose of practical use is presented through an analysis of TRL/TRA concept and domestic national construction and transportation R&D project's characteristics and current evaluation/management system.

  • This study investigated whether a song psychotherapy based on the change stages of alcohol addiction impacted the change readiness of alcoholics. The song psychotherapy intervention consists of six activities (listening to a song, singing, songwriting, song sharing, lyrics analysis, and discussion and analysis of a song), which considers the change stages of alcohol addiction. A total of 64 inpatients diagnosed with alcoholism were randomly assigned to either the control (n = 33) or experimental group (n = 31). The experimental group took part in the intervention program for 45 minutes twice a week for 6 weeks (total of 12 sessions). The intervention effect was evaluated with SOCRATES-K. The results showed that the SOCRATES-K score significantly increased by 14.6% (p < .001) for the experimental group, whereas it remained almost unchanged (0.8% increase, p = .141) in the control group. For subcategory scales, the experimental group showed the highest increase in the ambivalence factor, followed by the recognition and taking-steps factors. Meanwhile, no significant changes in all three scales were found in the control group. Therefore, the song psychotherapy intervention based on the change stages of alcohol addiction was found to significantly increase the change readiness of alcoholics.

  • This research paper is to identify factors affecting the need for international cooperation in defense science and technology sector. This study set a new hypothesis based on the previous research in terms of the theory of transaction cost, knowledge-based and technology readiness level perspective. After setting a new hypothesis, the following facts were found. First, it showed that the greater the importance of defense technology also increases the need for international technology cooperation for its technology. Second, the relatively higher distance of technology comparing to the developed countries was the need for international technology cooperation to be bigger. Lastly, the relatively higher technology readiness level of technology showed the negative relationship with the need for international cooperation. This results showed that the international cooperation in defense science and technology was regarded as complementary to get their short knowledge. The results of these analyzes showed that the international defense cooperation should be push forward based on the level of technology comparing to the developed countries and the technology readiness level.

  • This research aims to explore the effect of participation in 'peer tutoring(learning tutoring)' program designed for low achiever students, and to provide an explanation for the improvement of related extracurricular activity. For this, firstly, the study analyzed differences between goal attainment group and non-attainment group in self-directed learning readiness, learning presence and learning transfer. Secondly, the relationships between three variables were analyzed. Based on an online survey of 154 low achievers participating in learning tutoring, two research questions were examined using t-test, correlation and hierarchical multiple regression analyses. Our findings show that firstly, the academic achievement after participating in tutoring improved more than before. Secondly, there were differences in three variables by gender and grades. Also, there were differences in three variables between two groups. Finally, there was a high positive correlation between three variables, and 71% of learning transfer was explained by self-directed learning readiness and learning presence. Based on these findings, the practical implications are discussed regarding the improvement of tutoring program.

  • Rapid development of information and communication technologies leads firms to take 'smart work' into serious consideration as a new way of working in coming knowledge and information society. However, some jobs may be fit for smart work while some may be not. A $2{\times}2$ framework for smart work readiness assessment is developed in this study through the review of extant literature and a series of focus group activities. Two critical dimensions of smart work are derived and presented as a result: smartness (knowledge versus data) and mobility (mobile versus static). Knowledge intensive jobs with possible mobility seem to be the target group that can be easily converted to smart work while mobile workers with interactive data processing devices seem to be already doing smart work. As mobility is a critical presumption for work to be flexible in terms of time and place, jobs with no mobility are assessed here as not ready for smart work at least at present. This framework is experimentally applied against the published job statistics 2011 in Korea, and used to estimate the number of workers ready for smart work. As a conclusion, discussions on policy implications and further research issues are made at the end.

  • This study offers a $3{\times}2$ matrix on the development method pursuant to the level of readiness and necessity for IS of SMEs, and the Delphi method survey through the assistance of a panel of IT experts was employed. Upon analyzing the results, in all rounds, the 1st quadrant and 2nd quadrant resulted in a preference for leasing methods (ASP/SaaS) and the other quadrants resulted in a preference for outsourcing. Quadrants closer to the 1st quadrant showed a preference for leasing methods (ASP/SaaS) and quadrants closer to the 6th quadrant showed a preference for outsourcing. In the case of the IS implementation for the entire company, all three levels of readiness resulted in a preference for outsourcing. The point in which the implementation method changed depending on the level of readiness was when unit systems were implemented, and among the implementation methods, in-house development showed the lowest results.

  • Various policies have been implemented for human resources development in preparation for future society. Among the policies, STEAM education, SMART education and SW education are representative examples. In order for these policies to be implemented effectively in the school setting, teachers' positive perception and teaching competency are required. In consideration of the importance of pre-service teacher education, this study analyzed the current status of elementary pre-service teachers' perception and teaching readiness on STEAM education, SMART education and SW education, and sought implications that can be reflected in pre-service teacher education. The results of the study showed that the pre-service teachers' perception on the necessity of each policy was very high, and the understanding level of each policy was relatively high. Compared with this, it was found that pre-service teachers lacked training experience related to each policy, and the level of readiness for teaching was very low. As the most important task to be solved, many pre-service teachers selected the implementation of teacher education and seminars, and the distribution of instructional programs and materials. As the result of analyzing the difference according to pre-service teachers' individual characteristics, differences were found according to the level of their ICT utilization ability. Based on the results of this study, implications to be reflected in pre-service teacher training processes were suggested.
