  • It is important to evaluate the voltage characteristics of diesel generator as an emergency power supply in nuclear power plant. On loss of offsite power sources, emergency safeguard loads required to safely shutdown the reactor should be supplied by diesel generator. This paper presents the dynamic stability program to evaluate diesel generator performance as an emergency power system. The results Indicate the diesel generator ability to start the motors successfully seems to life in its impedances and inertias.

  • On this study, removal ability of nitrate was researched in the anaerobic zone arounding collection pipes in landfill. Stability state time of column was after 20 days and 20~90ml/day in flux. In this time, removal rate of phosphate was about 80%. Removal ability and average removal rate of CODCr is $36g/m^3{\cdot}d$, 25.3%, respectively. It was that reactor is able to remove more nitrate. Maximum nitrate removal ability was $4.83g/m^3{\cdot}d$.

  • Pt/SDBC catalyst, which is used for the hydrogen-water isotopic exchange reaction, was prepared. The various properties of the catalyst, such as the thermal stability, pore structure and the platinum dispersion, were investigated. A hydrophobic Pt/SDBC catalyst which has been developed for the LPCE column of the WTRF (Wolsong Tritium Removal Facility) was tested in a trickle bed reactor. An experimental apparatus was built for the test of the catalyst at various temperatures and gas velocities.

  • In this work, a new method of design adaptive controllers for SISO systems based on multiple models and switching is presented. The controller selects the model from a given set, according to a switching rule based on output prediction errors. The goal is to design, at each sample instant, a predictive control law that ensures the robust stability of the closed-loop system and achieves the best performance for the current operating point. At each sample the proposed control scheme identifies a set of linear models that best characterizes the dynamics of the current operating region. Then, it carries out an automatic reconfiguration of the controller to achieve the best possible performance whilst providing a guarantee of robust closed-loop stability. The results are illustrated by simulations a nonlinear continuous and stirred tank reactor.

  • This paper deals with shunt compensation to eliminate voltage violation and enhance transfer capability, which is motivated towards implementation in the Korean power system. The optimal shunt compensation algorithm has demonstrated its effectiveness in terms of voltage accuracy and reducing the number of actions of reactive power compensating devices. The main shunt compensation devices are capacitor and reactor. Effects of control devices are evaluated by cost computations. The control objective at present is to keep the voltage profile of a key bus within constraints with minimum switching cost. A robust control strategy is proposed to make the control feasible and optimal for a set of power-flow cases that may occurs important event from system. Case studies with metropolitan area of the Korean power system are presented to illustrate the method.

  • The hydrolysis of olive oil was attempted with immobilized C. rugosa lipase in the reverse phase solvent system. (i.e. immobilized wet particles is dispersed in continuous phase olive oil or organic solvents containing olive oil). Sephadex LH-20 and LH-60 were used as the supports that can be used in organic solvents. The water content of wet particles of sephadex LH-20 and LH-60 were about 72% (w/w) and 85% (w/w), respectively Both swollen gels with 0.05M buffers adsorbed about 18% of lipase dissolved. They were easily dispersed in liquid olive oil or in organic solvents. The effects of organic solvents on the stability and catalytic activity of the lipase have been examined. The results revealed that isooctane is superior to the other solvents examined for enzymatic fat spliting in reverse phase system. Kinetics of enzymatic hydrolys of olive oil by immobilized lipase has been investigated in a batch reactor. Effects of pH and temperature on the lipase were studied. The substrate concentration was influenced positively on the thermal stability.

  • Welding is required for a connection between two different components in the nuclear fuel of a pressurized water reactor. This work relies on a mechanical experiment and analytic results to investigate the structural integrity of nuclear fuel in a situation where some components are not welded to each other. A series of lateral vibration tests are performed in a test facility, and the test structures are examined in terms of dynamic behavior. In the tests, the displacement signal at every grid structure that sustains fuel rods is measured and processed to identify the dynamic properties. The fluid-elastic stability of the structure is also analyzed to evaluate susceptibility to a cross flow with an assumed conservative cross flow distribution. The test and analysis results confirm that the structural integrity can be maintained even in the absence of some welding connections.

  • Plasma polymerization of Perfiuoropropene(PFP) and n-Hexane was carried out in a tubular type reactor by means of 13.56MHz radio frequency generator at the fixed RF discharge power of 25W and at the pressures of 100mTorr, 140mTorr and 200mTorr. The thin films were deposited on PAN fabrics in order to improve the dimemsional stability of woven states in hot water laundry. IR spectroscopy was used for the analysis of the structures of the thin films deposited and SEM for examination of surfaces of the fabrics. the PAN fabrics, which were coated by thin films at several experimental conditions, were immersed in boiling water for 2 hours and then the dimension stability of woven states were evaluated. In spite of very thin films, the results of surface modification were satisfactory. In general the performace of thin films by PFP was superior to that of n-Hexane.

  • A new method for the design of predictive controllers for SISO systems is presented. The proposed technique allows uncertainties and constraints to be concluded in the design of the control law. The goal is to design, at each sample instant, a predictive feedback control law that minimizes a performance measure and guarantees of constraints are satisfied for a set of models that describes the system to be controlled. The predictive controller consists of a finite horizon parametric-optimization problem with an additional constraint over the manipulated variable behavior. This is an end-constraint based approach that ensures the exponential stability of the closed-loop system. The inclusion of this additional constraint, in the on-line optimization algorithm, enables robust stability properties to be demonstrated for the closed-loop system. This is the case even though constraints and disturbances are present. Finally, simulation results are presented using a nonlinear continuous stirred tank reactor model.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explain improvement of voltage stability using STATCOM by active power margin and reactive power margin. STATCOM, the representative shunt compensator of the FACTS devices, is faster than machinery compensator in response speed and has the advantage of the small scale because it doesn't use reactor or large capacitor. In this paper, we investigated the compensatory effect of the STATCOM that applied to KEPCO system.
