  • This study aimed to examine the influences of an experience of purchasing random items and gambling behaviors among adolescents in South Korea. This study performed a series of binominal logistic regression analyses by using a sample of 17,520 adolescents from the 2018 Survey on Youth Gambling Problems. The findings are a follows. First, 49.9% of the adolescents had experience in buying random items. Second, an experience of buying random items among adolescents who have experienced betting games are related to problem gambling(OR=1.48, p<.001). Third, an experience of buying random items among adolescents who have no experienced in betting games are related to intention to participate in legalized gambling(OR=1.89, p<.001). Fourth, there were no gender differences in the influence of an experience of purchasing random items on gambling behaviors. Based on the findings, implications for addressing gambling problems among adolescents were discussed.

  • Recently, there has been an increasing social concern over the use of random reward game items. In this paper, we try to understand the effect of using random reward game on adolescents based on the survey data over a year. In addition, regression analysis was conducted to examine how socio-psychological variables affect the game addiction of adolescents according to use of random reward games. As a result of analysis, it was found that the random reward game use group had lower self esteem and higher material value than the normal game use group. Also, self esteem and material value have a significant effect on game addiction. And finally, the results and implications were discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose a stochastic LP model for determining an optimal input quantity in a single-product multi-stage production system with random yields. Due to the random yields in our model, each stage of the production system can result in defective items, which can be re-processed or scrapped at certain costs. We assume that the random yield at each stage follows an independent discrete empirical distribution. Compared to dynamic programming models that prevail in the literature, our model can easily handle problems of larger sizes.

  • In this paper, it is key issue about analysis of characteristics processing of digital random output stream of hardware random number generator, which is applied in medical area. The output stream of random number generator based on hardware binary random number is effected from factors such as delay, jitter, temperature, and so on. In this paper, it presents about major factor, which effects hardware output random number stream, and the randomness of output stream data, which are combined output stream and postprocessing data such as encryption algorithm, encoding algorithm, is analyzed. the analyzed results are evaluated by major test items of randomness.

  • Recently, an efficient and practical method has been developed for the generation of univariate non-Gaussian wind pressure time histories on low building roofs; this methodology requires intermittent exponential random numbers for the simulation. On the other hand, the conventional spectral representation scheme with random phase is found suitable for the generation of univariate Gaussian wind pressure time histories on low building roofs; this simulation scheme requires uniform random numbers. The dependency of these simulation methodologies on the random number generator is one of the items affecting the accuracy of the simultion result; therefore, an attempt has been made to investigate the issue. This note presents the observed sensitivity of random number sets in repetitive simulations of Gaussian and non-Gaussian wind pressures.

  • One of the reasons students have difficulty in studying probability is that they do not understand the meaning of mathematical terms precisely. One such term is a continuous random variable. Students tend not to think of the accurate definition of continuous random variables but to understand the definition of continuity of functions and the meaning of continuity in probability as equal. In this study, we try to explore the degree of pre-service teachers' understanding on the concept of continuation of functions and continuous random variables. To do this, the questionnaire items related to continuous random variables and continuity of functions were developed by experts and examined by pre-service teachers. Based on this, we make suggestions on implications for teaching and learning about continuous random variables.

  • In this paper, it is about random number generator, which is based on hardware is utilized in medical science and game area. The Intel presents guideline of security level about hardware based true random number generator. At hardware based random number generator, the various test items, that are included in test suits as NIST statistical test, FIPS140-1, is applied. In this paper, it experiments about degree extent of randomness variation from filter scheme effects, which is applied in output stream of hardware noise source.

  • It is quite difficult to create an unbiased and stable random bit stream, as required for statistical randomness, when using a random generator with only a hardware component. In this paper, we studied to reduce the statistical property of the biased bit stream in the output of a real random number generator. The proposed scheme is enhanced the randomness of output bitstream, these test items are used by FIPS 140-1.
