간 질병 분류를 위한 라만 스펙트럼의 배경 잡음 제거 방법 (A method of background noise removal of Raman spectra for classification of liver disease)

  • 본 논문에서는 급성 알코올성 간 손상과 만성 에탄올성 간섬유증이 유도된 마우스로부터 획득한 라만 스펙트럼에서 배경 잡음을 제거하기 위한 기준선 추정 방법을 조사하였다. 기준선을 추정하기 위해 일차 미분, 선형계획법, rolling ball을 이용한 방법을 적용하였다. 각 방법의 적절한 압력 파라미터를 MAP(maximum a posteriori probability)의 훈련율에 의해 결정하였다. 실험 절과에 따르면 rolling ball 알고리즘을 이용한 기준선 추정 방법이 급성 알코올성 간 손상과 만성 에탄올성 간섬유증의 MAP 분류에서 평균 89.4%로 가장 좋은 결과를 나타냈다. 이 결과로부터 라만 스펙트럼의 기준선 추정에 적절한 방법과 파라미터를 결정하는 것이 분류 성능에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다.

Nucleus-phonon interactions of MCsSO4 (M = Na, K, or Rb) single crystals studied using spin-lattice relaxation time

  • The structural properties and relaxation processes of $MCsSO_4$ (M = Na, K, or Rb) crystals were investigated by measuring the NMR spectra and spin-lattice relaxation rates $1/T_1$ of their $^{23}Na$, $^{39}K$, $^{87}Rb$, and $^{133}Cs$ nuclei. According to the NMR spectra, the $MCsSO_4$ crystals contain two crystallographically inequivalent sites each for the M and Cs ions. Further, the relaxation rates of all these nuclei do not change significantly over the investigated temperature range, indicating that no phase transitions occur in these crystals in this range. The variations in the $1/T_1$ values of the $^{23}Na$, $^{39}K$, $^{87}Rb$, and $^{133}Cs$ nuclei in these three crystals with increasing temperature are approximately proportional to $T^2$, indicating that Raman processes may be responsible for the relaxation. Therefore, for nuclear quadrupole relaxation of the $^{23}Na$, $^{39}K$, $^{87}Rb$, and $^{133}Cs$ nuclei, Raman processes with n = 2 are more effective than direct processes.

Characterization of Monocrystalline $\beta-SiC$ Thin Film Grown by Chemical Vapor Deposition

  • High quality monocrystalline $\beta$-SiC thin films were grown via two-step process of conversion of the Si(100) surface by reaction with $C_2H_4$ and the subsequent chemical vapor deposition (CVD) at $1360^{\circ}C$ and 1 atm total pressure. Four dopants, B and Al and p-type, and N and P for n-type, were also incorporated into monocrystalline $\beta$-SiC thin films during the CVD growth process. IR and Raman spectroscopies were used to evaluate the quality of the undoped $\beta$-SiC thin films and to investigate the effects of dopants on the structure of the doped $\beta$-SiC thin films. The changes in the shape of IR and Raman spectra of the doped thin films due to dopants were observed. But the XTEM micrographs except for the B-doped and annealed films showed the same density and distribution of stacking faults and dislocations as was seen in the undoped samples, The IR and Raman spectra of the B-doped and annealed films showed the broad and weak bands and one extra peak at the 850 $cm^{-1}$ respectively. The SAD pattern and XTEM micrograph of the B-doped and annealed film provided the evidence for twinning.

$CH_4-H_2-O_2$계로부터 성장된 Diamond 박막의 Raman spectra (Raman spectra of Diamond thin film grown from $CH_4-H_2-O_2$ system)

  • Diamond thin films were deposited on Si substrate from $CH_4-H_2-O_2$ system by MWPECVD at the condition of power of 800W, pressure of 80torr, $H_2$ flow rate of $75{\sim}81sccm$, $O_2$ flow rate of $0{\sim}3.8sccm$, $CH_4$ flow rate of $4.8{\sim}9sccm$, substrate temp, of $950{\sim}1010^{\circ}C$ and deposition time of 5hr. The deposited films were characterized by SEM, XRD and Raman spectroscopy. The growth rates of thin films and particles was measured. Good quality were synthesized at 40% of oxygen concentration which 6% of fixed metane concentration, and at 50%. Its deposition rates were $2.4{\mu}m/h$ respectively. As oxygen concentration increased, it was known that the broad peak of $1350 cm^{-1}$ was shifted to $1332cm^{-1}$ due to etching of carbon component.

  • The growth properties of diamond grain were examined by Raman spectroscopy and microscope images. Diamond thin films were prepared on single crystal Si wafers by microwave Plasma chemical vapor deposition. Preparation conditions, substrate temperature, boron concentration and deposition time were controlled differently. Prepared diamond thin films have different surface morphology and grain size respectively Diamond grain size was gradually changed by substrate temperature. The biggest diamond grain size was observed in the substrate, which has highest temperature. The diamond grain size by boron concentration was slightly changed but morphology of diamond grain became amorphous according to increasing of boron concentration. Time was also needed to be a big diamond grain. However, time was not a main factor for being a big diamond grain. Raman spectra of diamond film, which was deposited at high substrate temperature, showed sharp peaks at 1334$cm^{-1}$ / and these were characteristics of crystalline diamond. A broad peak centered at 1550$cm^{-1}$ /, corresponding to non-diamond component (sp$^2$carbon), could be observed in the substrate, which has low temperature.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering of Benzenethiol Adsorbed on Silver-Exchanged Copper Powders

  • Micrometer-sized copper (mCu) powders are weakly surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) active by the excitation at 632.8 nm, but nearly ineffective as a SERS substrate at 514.5 nm excitation. The SERS activity of mCu powders at both excitation wavelengths can be increased dramatically by a simple method of the galvanic exchange reaction with AgNO3 in aqueous medium. In this work, the SERS activity of the Ag-exchanged Cu powders (mCu@Ag) has been evaluated by taking a series of Raman spectra using benzenethiol (BT) as the probe molecule. It is clearly confirmed by field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry that the SERS activity of mCu@Ag powders is, in fact, highly dependent on the extent of galvanic reaction.

Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy of Ethephone Adsorbed on Silver Surface

  • We investigated the Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) spectrum of ethephone (2-chloroethylphosphonic acid). We observed significant signals in the ordinary Raman spectrum for solid-state ethephone as well as when it was adsorbed on a colloidal silver surface, strong vibrational signals were obtained at a very low concentration. The SERS spectra were obtained by silver colloids that were prepared by the $\gamma$-irradiation method. The influence of pH and the influence of anion $(Cl^-,\;Br^-,\;I^-)$ on the adsorption orientation were investigated. Two different adsorption mechanisms were deduced, depending on the experimental conditions. The chlorine atom or the chlorine and two oxygen atoms were adsorbed on the colloidal silver surface. Among halide ions, $Br^-$ and $I^-$ were more strongly adsorbed on the colloidal silver surfaces. As a result, the adsorption of ethephone was less effective due to their steric hinderance.

Raman Scattered Ne $VII{\lambda}4881$ in the Symbiotic Star V1016 Cygni

  • We present the two high resolution spectra of the symbiotic star V1016 Cygni obtained with the Bohyunsan Optical Echelle Spectrograph in 2003 and 2005, from which we note the existence of the broad emission feature at 4881 ${\AA}$. We propose that this broad feature is formed from Raman scattering of Ne $VII{\lambda}973$ by atomic hydrogen. Thus far, the detection of Raman scattered lines by atomic hydrogen is limited to O $VI{\lambda\lambda}1032$, 1038 and He $II{\lambda\lambda}940$, 972 and 1025. We perform Monte Carlo simulations to fit the Raman scattered Ne $VII{\lambda}4881$ to investigate the basic spectroscopic properties concerning Ne $VII{\lambda}973$.

Enhanced Raman Spectrum of Juglone on Ag Surface: Is It a Simile to That of Lawsone?

  • The surface enhanced Raman spectrum of juglone, a traditional natural dye, has been observed by a custom-built micro-Raman setup. The spectral features of juglone significantly differ from those of lawsone, a structural isomer of juglone; only small red shifts of the double bond stretching bands are observed, and strong SERS bands are observed in the lower frequency regions as well. The DFT computations reveal that juglone coordinated to an $Ag^+$ adatom with $H^+$ release best correlates with the observed vibrational characteristics in the SERS spectrum among the plausible configurations of juglone coordinated to an adatom on the Ag surface, in line with the previously studied lawsone case. The differences in the SERS spectra of juglone and lawsone are attributed to the different locations of the hydroxyl group in the two isomers.

Spectroscopic Analysis of Gain Bandwidth in Raman Amplifier with Multiwavelength Pumping Scheme Using Actual Band Model

  • The spectroscopic model is proposed to analyze the gain bandwidth of a fiber Raman amplifier (FRA) with a multiple wavelength pumping scheme based on Raman gain theory. The oscillatory lineshape, which is the analytic function to analyze Raman gain spectra, allows us to estimate the gain bandwidth of the FRA. Based on the proposed theoretical modeling, we design and analyze the characteristics of the FRA using the combined multiwavelength pumping sources. We achieved the extended gain bandwidth of the FRA over 80 nm with the small gain ripple less than 0.5 dB. Threshold pumping power and effective noise figure for the FRA can be also analyzed by using the proposed model, which is also applicable for versatile fibers with other doping materials. The proposed analysis method can be useful for the design of FRA with the multiwavelength pumping scheme.
