A Study on the estimation of transport demand in accordance with the changed operating environment of high speed train (고속열차 운행 환경변화에 따른 수송수요예측 연구)

  • Recently, there has been growing necessity to estimate the future travel demand of high speed train because the circumstance of high speed train service is rapidly changing with the launching of 2011 second stage of Gyeongbu high speed railway(Dongdaegu-Busan) and the completion of 2014 first stage of Honam high speed railway(Yongsan-Gwangju), etc. This study was designed to estimate future travel demand by analyzing the transport performance and train service characteristics of Gyeongbu and Honam line. This study presents the maximum load section and the changed future travel demand, which will be applied to establish a train operation plan.

  • Transportation by railroad is superior to other transport in a mass transport, stability, rapid transit, delightfulness and low-pollution etc. But, it need to ensure a track stability that supports the train-load for high-speed in transportation by railroad. Ballast resistance force resists against the buckling of track taking a rail-tie's place. So, it plays an important role in a careful train-service. So, in this papers, we forced on measuring and theorizing about the Ballast Resistance Force that play a key role in track stability and high-speed. And we studied the mechanical property. Finally, we suggested the method of securing Ballast Resistance Force and the report for a careful train-service in high-speed.

  • Recently, South korea is driving forward the strategy concerning of the logistics center of northeast asia aggressively on the purpose of promoting Busan port & Gwangyang port to the hub-port of northeast asia, In that situation, it is significant that the meaning, construction connecting between south and north railway. Namely, That is the reason why Busan port is satisfied with the combined transport system of not only marine transportation but also railway transportation completely, However, the research and policy is only focused on the connection of north-south railway so far. The ability of Buans railway equipment as the actual role of origin-destination point of TKR(Trans Korean Railway), was not reviewed. Therefore, this research is shown the problem and reality of the railway transport concerning the centralization of Busan port, and the capacity of Busan port railway facility regarding the increase of future container quantity is reviewed and analyzed Moreover, the object, shown the importance of facility expansion such as Gungbu Trans Express between Daegu and Busan and the improvement scheme for railway transportation activation through the analysis of society cost and the logistics cost of the ability of railway facility, is set up.

  • Line Capacity is a criteria for transport capacity and is used to evaluate railroad investment alternatives or to decide train frequency when establish transportation plan. There are two methodologies to increase transport capacity of railway. One is to invest railroad equipment or vehicles, and the other is to improve operation efficiency through optimization. Such all efforts are intended to increase transport capacity by improving line capacity. So far, this criteria is calculated statical and experimental numerical formula. But, line capacity has special attribute that changes dynamically according to operational conditions, so there is a need of new line capacity estimation system. In this paper, we present a new estimation method of line capacity based on the probability simulation, and apply to normal railline section and special structured railine section.

  • The success of road haulage, in dominating the surface movement of freight, is now threatened by increased traffic congestion, falling average motorway speeds and rising in logistic costs. As a result, Government as well as companies, which use or operate logistics service, is now looking to rail to provide an alternative. First, we surveyed the bottlenecks and desired betterments to rail transport, which were indicated by rail and road transport users. Through the analysis of customers' needs survey. this paper is focused in the basic framework fur the rail freight transport, which could be helped to promote the efficiency associated with moving freight by rail.

Now, many kinds of shipper transports their goods by the Rail. but Rail transport system did not satisfied their requirements.   • This study aims to verify the causal relationship between service quality of the urban railway operating agency and users' behaviors, targeting the urban railway users. The perceived ease of use of the urban railway service quality had an influence on tangibility and convenience, and the perceived usefulness was significant to all attributes; therefore, it is judged that reliability, correspondence and safety should be improved to increase the users' perceived ease of use of the urban railway service quality. Based on these study results, the urban railway operating agency should make an effort to increase the perceived ease of use and usefulness of the urban railway to improve the service quality, to positively change the users' attitudes toward use, and to make the positive change connected to the intention of reuse and intention of recommendation, the users' behavior intentions.

  • Selecting an appropriate railway system in urban railway project is an important step for an efficient public transport policy. This paper attempts to solve the railway system selection problems in the (pre)feasibility study or preliminary research of urban railway project, by the rough transportation demand forecasting and financial analysis. There are two stages in this paper: in stage one, we review the worthwhile and various criteria which presented in precedent studies; whereas in stage two, an structured selection criteria is proposed for determining the appropriate railway system in urban railway project. The utilization of the proposed criteria is demonstrated with the case of a newtown in the metropolitan area. The results show that proposed criteria can be used to make the rational decision for governmental financial condition and social benefit.

  • The logistics industry is changing with the diversification of demand and related technology development. Thus, the transportation system is also changing to social problems and environmental damage, and the importance of rail freight is increasing with changes in the international logistics environment. This study analyzes railway freight competition structure using freight volume and suggests improving the competitiveness of railroad freight. To achieve the research purpose, this study was conducted using the Hirshmann-Herfindahl Index(HHI) and Location Quotients(LQ) method. As a result, the concentration trend of railway trends has increased from 0.213 to 0.238 during the last 9 years, and LQ analysis has enabled the identification of local competition lines by item. The study result confirmed that policy measures on railway freight system, railway infrastructure construction and railway operation are necessary to enhance railway competitiveness.

  • The modal spilt of highway has been increased and the one of railway has been decreased from 17.2%(1990) to 6.3%(2006). In this context, it is meaningful to examine the competitiveness of the railroad of Korea. The objective of this study is to analyze the competitiveness of railroad with the highway so that countermeasures improving the competitiveness of railroad could be suggested. For this, firs of all, indicators representing the competitiveness of the railroad transport are determined. The main influencing factors for mode choice include transport time, transport cost and level of service. Three types of commodity, container, cement and steel are the target for the analysis. It was found that the overall competitiveness of railroad transport is weaker compared with highway even for the main freight origin-destination pairs. It means that the freight transport system is focused on road rather than railroad. Therefore, we need to remeasure the competitiveness of railroad transport related to methods for freight railroad competitiveness improvement.
