  • This study is about developing a transit assignment model on railway network. Current transit assignment models are mainly focused on road or urban transportation so that these models, for example, transit assignment model based on optimal strategy generates unrealistic transit assignment. Especially, since the advent of KTX, more passengers are using the transfer route containing KTX but most transit assignment models have a shortcoming that transfer is not considered or is overestimated. We present a new stochastic transit assignment model based on LOGIT considering transfer resistance.

  • This paper is about the maintenance CALS system development and construction for the urban transit railway. The operation companies of urban transit railway are driving to construct the maintenance CALS system individually. So, there are concerned problems of duplication investment and waste of budget in the national aspect, inefficient CALS system construction, and etc. In order to resolve that, the KRRI is driving to development and construction of the standardized maintenance CALS system for the urban transit railway. This paper describes the result of basic design of the standardized maintenance CALS system using the CBD development method.

Steel Box Girder Bridge Models of Light Rail Transit with HR Plate (HR Plate의 경량전철 강박스거더교 적용모델)

  • To increase the demand of HR Plate with thickness up to 22mm, it is necessary that HR Plate is applicable to full member in steel bridge including main girder. In this study, availabilities of the narrow steel box girder of light railway transit with HR Plate width as a main member are discussed. Computational analysis is performed in 15 bridge models of light railway transit with beam element and plate element. As an analysis results, three models in tight railway transit are presented. In conclusion, it is validated that HR Plate can be applying to narrow steel box girder in the light railway transit.

  • Light rail transit system has many characteristics of better accessibility, frequency service, low construction cost, reduced air pollution and medium-capacity public transport etc. Light rail transit system as a urban transportation system has been growing worldwide since the late 20th century. More than 300 cities around the world have light railway systems. Many medium-size cities in domestic site is planning the construction of light railway. This paper describes the development strategies for the light rail transit industry.

  • This paper discusses the development of a generic train operation model from a set of Korean Urban Transit Regulations such as Regulation for Train Operation of Urban Transit, Regulation for Safety Requirements of Urban Transit and so on. It is to communicate with various stakeholders on urban transit system, and to elicit copious requirements in performance of the urban transit train operation based on the model.

  • With designing alignment of railway for urban rail transit, a greater attention is paid to the riding safety and the comfort of the passengers. Especially, cant, transition curve, minimum curve radius are considered as very important alignment factors for the curve. For the above alignment factors, in this study, comparative studies on the design criteria of foreign rail transit are conducted. And reasonable design criteria of the alignment for urban rail transit are proposed.

  • Recently, railway has been pointed to the efficiency of transportation, rapid transit, and comfortable train ride. In the case of domestic situation, both rapid transit railway and existing railway have been operated in higher speed and the construction of railway near the city building has been increased as well. Because of the rapid transit system and heavy railway, the noise and vibration of railway has been increased so that the strong standards in terms of environmental matter should be required. Therefore, the solution to avoid environmental matters becomes one of the most important factor in constructing railway. In this study, floating slab system which is one of the solution to avoid noise and vibration in railway has been introduced, and the foreign technology and the trend of this business has been investigated. In addition, the method of conceptual design and construction of floating slab system according to the isolator has been introduced.

  • A set of design factors that should be considered during rail transit system development in proposed. As the current trend in the rail transit development emphasizes its role as a medium through which the interaction between the city environment and people takes place, the factors of harmony, color, characteristics, identity, and communication should be considered in the railway-transit system design. It's important to ensure that there exist harmony between the design and the civic environment, the influence of color on people is properly considered, the car design possesses distinct characteristics, and that the sense of common identity as well as effective communication is fostered between the system and people it serves. Several cases from various countries are presented to illustrate the points raised in the paper.

  • Before 2010, assignments proposed by government caused inconvenience of users(operation institutions & customers) as performing that National research organization suggested requirements from private organizations to special institutes, but now the institution of assignments is improving to reflect opinions from the present users. This is a study on methods for drawing a task of Rolling stock's core parts & enhancing of Urban Railway/Light Railway Transit. The definition of multiple stakeholders(local government, operation institution, research organization, academic world, the industrial world, etc.) related to rolling stock of urban railway/Light railway transit, experts in rolling stock and the application for designing of question items verified and designed through Delphi technique for objectivity, justness and fairness. Also, it is to draw a conclusion of assignments through a study on methods for drawing a task of Rolling stock's core parts & enhancing of Urban Railway/Light Railway Transit as sharing a process of assignments and integrating opinions of each stakeholder of urban railway/light railway transit.
