At present, European railways in U.K., Sweden, and Belgium have taken serious efforts to improve railway services by implementing a service evaluation system. Not only do they measure the service-related performance of a railway system, but also operate an incentive system according to the results of service-related performance. This performance evaluation system can be also used to provide basic data for other policies such as fares, subsidies and track user charges etc. After the restructuring process of Korean national railways, therefore, although it is expected to face many difficulties in the future, it is desirable to implement a performance evaluation system for securing the long-term growth of Korean railway industry.

In this paper, We studied efficient design of wireless transmission system for unified data transmission in a subway and railway. It is increased that need of broadband multimedia service to make useful environment for user and to support the operation of railway system. High bandwidth is better if we need more services. But, high bandwidth requires more cost at tunnel of subway. More bandwidth make receive sensitivity to bad. So it need more wireless Station. We deduced best bandwidth of subway wireless transmission system reflecting the cost of installation and efficiency of system. Consequently, we decide efficient service model of broadband wireless system at a subway. Subway broadband wireless transmission system is tested in this year, and it is to be extended to province subway. Cost of subway broadband wireless transmission system is saved, because the system can be efficiently designed. Therefore, the effectiveness is expected to be very big.

In the railway system, transportation plan corresponds to a m aster plan for transport services. This service plan must be constructed to minimize operational cost or maximize revenue considering transportation demands and resource capacities in the railway operation company, and it includes several sub-planning activities such as train operation frequency plan, train (schedule) plan, train capacity assignment plan, and rolling stock requirement plan. In these sub- planning processes, train can be con side red as a product for providing customer services, and customer demands and operational advantages must be considered. In this paper, we present an effect estimation system for the train capacity pattern in a train schedule, and the effect of capacity pattern can be expressed as minimum spilled demand, minimum train service cost, and maximum train revenue or profit.

Safety-critical systems related to the railway communications are currently undergoing changes. Mechanical and electro-mechanical devices are being replaced by programmable electronics that are often controlled remotely via communication networks. Therefore designers and operators now not only have to contend with component failures and user errors, but also with the possibility that malicious entities are seeking to disrupt the services provided by theirs systems. Recognizing the safety-critical nature of the types of communications required in train control operations, the communications infrastructure will be required to meet a number of safety requirements such as system faults, user errors and the robustness in the presence of malicious attackers who are willing to take determined action to interfere in the correct operation of a system. In this paper, we proposed the safety strategies employed in the railway communications and a security mechanism for Korean railway communication system. Also, we presented the developed means for validation and determination of communication safety based on the proposed security mechanism in the railway system.

With a land area of 910,768 sq. km, population estimate of 150 million people and GDP-growth rate of 6.9% per annum (2006 est), the centrality of effective public transportation in Nigeria is readily seen. In this regard, rail transportation offers much potential because of its relative safety, reliability, lower cost to the users and being singularly capable of transforming the national economy through mass movement of people, goods and services. Within this context, the demand for an effective railway system, and the enormous potentials for profitable investment in rail infrastructure in Nigeria, is indisputable. Beginning with the history, the paper discusses the main problems of Nigeria's railway transport system; and then makes policy suggestions, after considering the potentials of rebuilding the rail infrastructure. The necessity of this work is premised on the fact that there is a significant gap in critical knowledge about Nigeria's railway transport system.

Centering on KTX stations, Korea is implementing specialized development of metropolitan business zones nationwide and is in the process of building the transfer link system of transportation in order to actualize intermodalism nationwide. Daejeon station, hub of high-speed railway requires the effective transportation transfer system considering Daejeon station area reorganization plan and opening of second phase high-speed railway. Based on the analysis of the possibility and validity of building a transit center under the Transportation System Efficiency Act, it is necessary to make a mutual benefit in a regional development by installing the resonable transfer system between railway and other transportation services. Through analysis of current situations and technical, economic and environmental feasibility evaluation, design plan of effective transportation transfer system in Daejeon station is proposed.

2005, National railway was converted from government enterprise form to public corporation form. Korail is facing in necessity to equip new manpower operating system to achieve public enterprise's part and two purposes called profit creation according to conversion to construction system. Accordingly, railway construction work began services for formation diagnostic and job analysis to construct management formation of new paradigm, personnel management course manpower operation system of the job value priority. This dissertation is research for direction establishment of human resource management(HRM) of railway construction work. Examined problem of current personnel management system with trend of HRM paradigm for this. And presented various strategy to construct greeting executive system of job putting first in person putting first and strengthens formation capacity.

The primary objective of this paper is to investigate the corridor of Eurasia High-Speed Railway Network from the governmental view of the Republic of Korea, whose High-Speed Train has been recently operated. The country is also expected to figure out the changes of Eurasia infrastructure system under the assumption that Trans-Korean Railway is connected to the Continent. As a result of research, the corridor connecting the TKR to TSR seems to be more attractive to the Republic of Korea than that of the TKR-TCR under the current economic and operational environments. However, even in a case, the railway linkage through the TSR between Europe and Asia should remain a supplementary means of the sea transportation route. Lastly, TSR may need a program of structural reforms, in order to continuously provide preferable services like the Pan-European Transport Network (PETN) which is currently initiated by the European Union, such as to improve outdated infrastructure (railway, bridges, signal systems, etc.), to simplify and to standardize the process of custom clearance and internal tariffs, and ultimately to construct a uniform management system for the corridor linking the TKR to TSR.

For the remarkable enhancement of high-speed rail passenger services, a system which provides various multimedia contents and Internet search functions was designed. The system gets inputs from a passenger and displays various multimedia contents on the touch sensitive LCD panel attached on a passenger seat. This kind of service is new in Korea and not easy to find in other countries, either. In this paper, we presented a design of a system which provides not only one-way broadcasting services but also searching capability of various information interactively. Informations to be provided are train schedule, transfer information, tour information, E-books, movies, music, ets. Successful completion of the system development in the following years is expected to strengthen international competitiveness of Korean railway industry.
