Development of Performance Testing Tool for Railway Signaling System Software

  • The computer application on embedded system is recently more increased in accordance of the development of computer technology. In this trend, the depending of SW in embedded system, especially railway signaling system, is being increased further. So the testing for the safety of railway signaling system software became more important. Hence, the safety assurance of the vital software on the railway signaling system is very important but yet, not many works have been done. In this paper, we represented the implementation results of development of performance testing tool in railway signaling system. The implemented testing item had referred to the international standards in relation to the software for railway system, such as IEC 61508 and IEC 62279.

  • This paper presented a literature review and investigation analysis results of total 19 present guide book and provisions of maintenance and management system in existing railway bridges to development of urban maglev track structures inspection manual. This research carried out a cooperated research subject 3-1, development a design code and maintenance and management inspection manual for urban maglev track structures, of the Center for Urban Maglev Program. Three types of track structures were includes as a major analytical parameter together with railroad, high speed railroad, subway and light rail transit. Bridges were analyzed a general rules, investigation, evaluation, repair and strengthen method as a key aspect. And rail were analyzed examination and maintenance also. This analysis results show that the track structures evaluation are based on the test and examination results, and repaired or strengthened consideration of deterioration, track irregularity and materials according to provision requirements.

  • In this paper, the safety criteria and framework of railway software which is developing presently is examined. The software development capability and organization of railway company in korea are investigated through interview and are analyzed. Then the application plan for railway software safety criteria is deduced to apply criteria to railway industry effectively.

  • This paper describes the simulation algorithms and user interfaces of the self-developed CaPoDyS which is to simulate the dynamic interaction between catenary and pantograph based on FEM. Also, the reliability of the simulation results are discussed through comparing with the ERRI report.

  • The level crossing collision accident which comprises more than 90 percent of all level crossing accidents is one of the most serious safety problems. There is a critical need for providing safe strategy and is focusing on the level crossing information rather than measures at a grade crossing. This study is intended to develop technology for accident prevention and damage reduction based on accident cases analysis result and improvement direction to complement shortcomings of safety equipment of conventional level crossing and to establish safety of travelers(train, motor vehicle, person).

  • The objective of this study is to design the full-scale fire test facility of the railroad vehicle with CFD simulation. In the results, the step expansion system should be good enough for the measuring system. Uniform flow is achieved at eight-to-ten diameters of the expanded duct behind the step for moderate expansion ratios($D_{orifice}/D_{duct}$ = 2 being a good choice). To optimization of the fire products collector system with 5 dampers, the additional CFD simulation was also carried out. These results will be help for the railroad fire safety research.

  • This paper presents a modeling of railway facilities based on object-oriented software development technique for train operation simulation program. Railway network is decomposed by Line Structure Model and Signal System Model which can be composed to make the train routes and train performance calculation. A brief explanation of class design about these model is provided.

  • Assuming that life of urban transit signaling is about 20 years with the flow of technology development, Seoul urban transit will be required to prepare for improvement soon. The highly developed countries preceding several levels rather than Korea are faced with commercial service, which uses RF, ATC and ATO in Train Control System. European highly developed countries in the field of railroad have been progressing standardization and technology development of signaling associated with related manufacturers for direct operation between nations. For that, a effective train control system with radio beyond control levels by the existing wayside-onboard communication is in a developed and used stage. The systems, which advanced countries have been progressing, seem to be applied to domestic within 5 years from now. At present, there are no countries using CBTC for service throughout the world. So, this is investigated to focus on the routes ready to be installed with completed CBTC and trying to introduce the technology. Especially, considerations for economic aspect are mainly reviewed about controlling ability of headway, flexibility, extension aspect and construction cost on the basis of paper examined in NYCT.
