An Analysis on Technology of Urban Railway Substation Insulation Diagnostic Program (도시철도 변전소 절연진단 프로그램 기술 분석)

  • This paper introduces an comprehensive monitoring and management program for implementation of a real-time monitoring system that monitors condition of urban railway AC/DC transformers, disconnecting switches, circuit breakers, regulators, and GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear). Especially, the system is applied to diagnose the overall condition of urban railway substations by sending acquired data through an OPC server to a database, effectively storing and monitoring conditions simultaneously. The above system is a management based system and is also applicable to small-scale systems.

  • The reinforcing subgrade, which first introduced Korea for the highspeed subgrade construction, has the many advantages to maintain the quality of ballast track as well as to prevent the softening of subgrade by mud-pumping. It causes the subgrade soil to spout into the ballast on many lines. Therefore, the application of reinforcing subgrade will be expected to increase in the future. This paper introduces the reinforcing subgrade as a maintenance-free technology f3r the railroad operation and the method f3r the determination of reinforcing subgrade depth. The criteria on reinforcing subgrade depths of highspeed and conventional railroad were verified from the calculation results based on an elastic analysis method.

  • In order to speed up basic concept is to enhance high speed, curve limit speed, cross limit speed, acceleration/deceleration speed. It is important to optimal interface, fundamental technology of vehicle, rail, electrical power, and signal system. Tilting train has advantage minimizing investment cost of infra railway system for increasing train limit speed in curve. the developed tilting train should be operated to commercial service speed 180km/h of 200km/h at KNR upgrade railroad. This paper proposed the basic model of system engineering for developing of tilting EMU(maximum operation speed : 180km/h) with speed-up of conventional railway system.

  • Magnetic fields (MF) generated both on board the vehicle and along the guideway provide levitation and propulsion forces. High speed maglev trains adopt electromagnet or superconducting magnet to realize levitation and propulsion functions. However, stray fields existing in passenger compartment and regions surrounding the vehicle and guideway have effect on passengers and environment. To investigate stray magnetic field effect, model of Transrapid and MLX are studied.

  • Recently, the computer based control systems instead of conventional relays circuitry are widely used to industrial applications, and also those technology is available to railway signaling which are safety-critical systems. However, the safety and reliability of software for those systems are harder to demonstrate than in traditional relays circuitry because the faults or errors can not be analyzed and predicted to those systems. So, the safety problems are crucial more and more in computer based control system. In this paper, the GRAFCET(GRAphe Fonctionnel do Commande Etape/Transition) language is used as a analysis and verification tool for safety-critical interlocking logic. The general description for Grafcet notation are provided and the general modeling for interlocking logic is presented.

A Study on the Measurement of Contact Force of Pantograph on High Speed Train

  • Appropriate contact force is required for the pantograph on the high speed train to collect current from the catenery system without separation. However, at high speed, large aerodynamic lifting force is generated by the contact plate and the body of pantograph, which may cause wear of the contact wire. In this study, to confirm the interface performance of the pantograph on Korea High Speed Train, a method to measure the contact force of the pantograph was proposed and the related measuring system was developed. The forces acting on the pantograph were clarified and a practical procedure to estimate the forces was proposed. A special device was invented and applied to measure the aerodynamic lifting force. Measured contact forces were displayed by the developed system and evaluated based on the criteria.

  • In order to develop a deep-underground great train express (GTX) in South Korea, the specifications decision and development of a traction control system (including an inverter and a traction motor), which considers a variety of route conditions, must be advanced. In this study, we examined the running resistance properties of a high-speed traction system based on a variety of tunnel types and vehicle organization methods. Then, we studied the power requirements necessary for the traction motor to maintain balanced speed in the high-speed traction system. From this, we determined the design criteria for the development of a high-speed traction system for use in the deep-underground GTX. Finally, we designed a linear induction motor (LIM) for a propulsion system, and we used the finite element method (FEM) to analyze its performance as it travelled through deep-underground tunnels.

  • At present, one of the big characteristics in electric power market in korea is unique seller but in the near future competitions are expected in the market. so additional service for the electric power are expected. Also with development of IT technology, remote inspection for power usage are possible so as consumption pattern analysis. KORAIL is one of the biggest consumer in electric power market so it is necessary to investigate power consumption pattern. This paper presents electric power rate definition program based on billing system database and also basic power rate optimization method. Base on the substation annual power usage DB data, the characteristic of the substation power consumption are investigated and effective electrical billing system are compared each other. Through this program it is verified that we can save more then several hundred million won for a year.

  • Korea Railroad Research Institute(KRRI) has developed the rubber-tired AGT system from 1999 to 2005. The rubber-tired AGT system is now on test for its performance and function at the test line in Gyeong-San. This paper is concerned with the recent development of the AGT system and its reliability evaluation technology which are now being applied in test line. Also, we made the reliable program to assure required the RAMS((reliability, availability, maintainability & safety) of the AGT system.

  • The development of Technology study for preventing of accident and reducing the risk through the intelligence of level crossing is provide the detection of stopped car at railway crossing with the most advanced intelligence technology such as sensor, computer, communication and date processing and transmit to the operational staff on broad for reaction or make the train stopped automatically through the connection with train. Also this study include that showing the situation of crossing railway when the train is approached and prevent the accident and reduce the risk through the connection of road transit signal system. On this study is performed the test through the date from spot level crossing and the development of video detection algorism for stopped road transit vehicle at level crossing with intelligent system.
