레일손상에 의한 윤중증가를 고려한 표면균열 성장예측 (Prediction of Surface Crack Growth Considering the Wheel Load Increment Due to Rail Defect)

  • Prediction of a minimum crack size for growth, which is defined as a crack size that grows fast enough to keep ahead of its removal by contact wear and periodic grinding, is the most demanding work to prevent rail from fatigue failure and develop cost effective railway maintenance strategy In this study, we investigated the wheel load increment due to a rail defect during a train ran over it, and its effect on the minimum crack size for growth. For this purpose, we developed simulation software based on the Fletcher and Kapoor's "2.5D" model and measured wheel load increment during a train passed over a defect. A maximum contact pressure and contact patch size were calculated by 3D FEM and crack growth analyses were performed by varying two of dominant contact contributors; surface friction coefficient(0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4) and crack aspect ratio. The minimum crack sizes for growth were calculated from 0.29 to 1.44mm depending on the contact conditions. They were decreasing with increasing surface friction coefficient and decreasing with crack aspect ratio(a/b).

다양한 조건에 따른 주철 소재의 마찰/마모 특성에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Friction and Wear Characteristics of Cast Iron Material Under Various Conditions)

  • 주철은 산업현장에서 중장비나 철도차량 등과 같은 다양한 기계장치의 주재료로 널리 사용된다. 이러한 기계장치의 운전 성능은 접촉 특성에 따라 크게 좌우되며 이를 개선시키기 위한 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 모래와 알루미나 입자가 주철의 마찰/마모 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해 다양한 조건에서의 미끄럼 실험을 통해 규명하였다. 입자의 크기 및 시편 온도 등을 변수로 하여 스틸 볼이 pin 으로 장착된 pin-on-reciprocator 방식의 트라이보테스터를 사용하여 실험을 진행하였다. 주사전자현미경(Scanning Electron Microscope), confocal microscope 와 3d profiler 를 이용해서 주철 시편과 스틸 볼의 마모 표면을 관찰하고 마모량을 정량적으로 측정하여 마모 특성을 파악하였다. 실험 결과 주철의 마찰/마모 특성은 입자 주입에 의해 크게 달라짐을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 주철 시편에 가해준 온도에 따라 마찰/마모 특성이 크게 달라지는 것을 확인하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 산업에서 주철 재료의 트라이볼로지 특성을 이해하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

DLC 코팅된 가이드레일을 이용한 볼베어링 직선 이송 스테이지의 진공환경 제어 특성 분석 (Experimental Control Characteristic Investigation of Ball Bearing Guided Linear Motion Stage with Diamond-like Carbon Coated Guide Rail)

  • Recently, there is an increase in the need for precision linear stages with vacuum compatibility in such areas as lithography equipment for wafer or mask manufacturing, mask mastering equipment for optical data storage and electron beam equipment. A simple design, high stiffness and low cost can be achieved by using ball bearings. However, a ball bearing have friction and wear problems just as in ambient air. In order to decrease the friction, a special finish, a diamond-like carbon (DLC) film coating, is applied to the surface of a guide rail by sputtering deposition. This paper presents the result of an experimental investigation on the control performance of a ball bearing-guided linear motion stage under two environmental conditions: in air and vacuum. A comparison between the results with and without the DLC coating was also considered in the experimental investigation.

  • 전동차의 집전장치용 주습판은 형태와 재질에 따라 마모현상에 상당한 차이가 있으며 특히, 강수량에 따른 이상마모, 아크에의한 급격한 이상마모는 전차선과 주습판의 수명을 결정하는 주요인자로 작용한다. 본 연구는 현차 실험을 통하여 우수한 전기전도도 및 내아크성을 가진 동계주습판의 마모현상을 정상마모 특성이 관찰된 동계주습판과 우천 시 국부적으로 이상마모 특성이 관찰된 동계주습판에 대하여 강수량, 주행거리 및 주습판의 교환 후 중량을 상호 비교하여 분석하였다. 트라이볼로지적 접근을 통하여 내마모성 등이 우수한 철계습판체의 적용 필요성을 본 실험적 연구를 통하여 제안하였다.

전자기센서를 이용한 고속철도용 차륜재의 구름접촉피로 손상 모니터링 (Damage Monitoring of Rolling Contact Fatigue in Wheel Specimen for High Speed Train Using Electro-Magnetic Sensor)

  • Upon investigation of the damaged wheels for high speed train it was determined that the damage was caused by rolling contact fatigue during operation of train. The major problems that railway vehicle system using wheel-rail has to face during operation of railway vehicle are rolling contact fatigue, cracks in wheels, cracks in rails and wheel-rail profile wear. If these deficiencies are not controlled at early stages the huge economical problems due to unexpected maintenance cost in railway vehicle can be happened. Also, If the accurate knowledge of contact conditions between wheel and rail can be evaluated, the damage of wheel can be prevented and the maintenance operation can save money. This paper presents the applicability of electro-magnetic technique to the detection and sizing of defects in wheel. Under the condition of continuous rolling contact fatigue the damage of wheel has continuously monitored using the applied sensor. It was shown that the usefulness of the applied sensor was verified by twin disc test and the measured damaged sizes showed good agreement with the damaged sizes estimated by electro-magnetic technique.

도시철도 터널 내 청소장치별 집진먼지 비교 분석 (A Comparative Analysis of Dust Particles Collected by Cleaning Equipments in Subway Tunnel)

  • Air pollution in subway tunnel is primarily caused from the wear of metallic materials. As undesirable substance, PM(Particulate Matter) can especially harm the health of passengers and workers as well as clog the main parts of rolling stock such as inverters. To improve the air quality in subway tunnel, SMRT(Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation) has developed anti-pollution devices such as Magnetic Dust Collector, Vacuum Cleaner For Rail Road and Particulate Removing Sprinkler Vehicle. Introducing these mechanical devices, this paper is mainly devoted to explaining the characteristics of collected dust according to the result of particle-size analysis and componential analysis.

듀얼 레일 형상에 적합한 철도차량의 차륜 형상 설계 (Design of Railway Vehicle Wheel Profile Suitable for Dual-rail Profile)

  • When a wheel profile of a train-tram is designed, both train and tram tracks should be considered. This study designed a wheel profile that enables high-speed driving(200km/h) on the train track and low speed driving on the tram track with multiple sharp curves. The study used the approximation optimization method to reduce cost and time, used the sequential quadratic programming method as the optimized algorithm, and the central composite design and response surface method as an approximate model. The optimized wheel shape based on this approximation optimization method reduced wear of the initial wheel showed a better performance in terms of derailment and lateral force.

기존선을 통과하는 고속차량의 적절한 주행속도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Appropriate Driving Speed for High-Speed Trains Running the Conventional Line)

  • KTX (Korea Train eXpress) is the first high-speed train operated in Korea and its highest speed reaches 300 km/h. Korean high-speed trains are mostly operated on the railroads exclusively designed for high-speed trains, but the sections of Seoul~Gwangmyeong, nearby of Daejeon station and Dongdaegu are operated on the existing tracks having the speed less than 150 km/h. With this paper, we'd like to analyze the lateral force that occurs between the wheels and the rail when high-speed trains were operated on the existing track section to suggest an appropriate driving speed for high-speed trains. As the rigid wheel base of the high-speed train is 3m which is about 50% longer than normal vehicles, it works as an advantage for high-speed driving. However, as the lateral force becomes higher than normal vehicles when driving on curves, plans to reduce wear-outs on the wheels are required.

  • The more sophisticated patterns of propagation model is presented in this paper, which includes three different source characteristics. The spherical, cosine and dipole radiation characteristics compared and sound event level and the maximum sound level are calculated by experiment and calculation. It is shown that patterns of propagation has dipole characteristics for low speed range(below about 150km/h) at electric multiple system. We know that push-pull high speed system(maximum speed: 300km/h) has cosine characteristics of noise propagation. For this purpose, We conduct the experiment of noise and know the empirical formula of noise level and radiation coefficient K. This model of simulation is conducted through point source array model at wheel/rail contact point by using program and experimental formula. We can guess prediction of profile, flat and wear of wheel by above modeling in near field.

  • This paper presents recent development of (semi)-active steering bogies for railway vehicles and introduce the state-of-art of related technologies. Steering bogies have been studied in various researchers since they can offer high ride quality for passengers and reduce the maintenance costs of wheel and rail wear. Especially, they are considered to be a fundamental solution to dramatically reduce the squeal noise on tight curves. However, passive steering bogies such as self-steering bogies and forced steering bogies have shown their limits to cope with the various running conditions. Therefore, (Semi)-active steering bogies have been studied to overcome the drawbacks of the passive steering bogies. As a result, an active steering bogie, so called mechatronic bogie, is developed successfully in Europe and it has shown remarkable performance in test line.
