  • Radiation-therapy causes the adverse radiation effect. It is called osteoradionecrosis. A protein-therapy is carried out in order to cure osteoradionecrosis. The typical method of the protein-therapy is using BMP-2. Considering to bone damage, it is more important that maintains enough to circumstance regeneration for osteoblast differentiation on damage site of bone. Thus, this study is on a tissue regeneration to cure radiation critical damage. I observed that the formation of new regeneration bone by injection of collagen sheet BMP-2 on irradiated mouse. Consequently, I examined new bone formation with collagen sheet BMP-2 on irradiated mouse after 8weeks. Therefore I suggested that using collagen sheet BMP-2 which can be good for new bone regeneration effect on radiation side effect area.

  • Radiation therapy is accompanied by adverse radiation effective. In particular, it is accompanied by disorders of the vascular system. Therefore, oxygen and nutrient deficiency occurs in the regeneration area. Eventually, osteoradionecrosis is formed in this cellular environment. According to a precedent study, bone morphogenetic protein-2 is used to overcome osteoradionecrosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the regeneration ability of osteoradionecrosis by treating bone-forming protein-2 on a fibrinogen scaffold which is a biomaterial that is frequently used for bone regeneration after irradiation of the rat head. In addition, the purpose of this study was to verify the bone regeneration effect from the eight weeks. According to the experimental results, in the calvarial defected model of the irradiated mouse, making bone-formation was obtained after 8 weeks rather than bone-formation period in the early 4 weeks. moreover, it was found that the regenerated bone formation of the fibrinogen scaffold is formed from the inside of the bone of the defect area.

  • Positron emission tomography for small animals has very high spatial resolution for imaging very small organs. To achieve good spatial resolution, the system must be constructed using very small scintillation pixels. When a detector is constructed using very small scintillation pixels, the size of the applicable array varies depending on the photosensor pixel. In a previous study, a study was conducted to find the maximum scintillation pixel arrangement according to the size of the photosensor. In this study, a detector with a light guide was designed to configure the detector using a more extended array of scintillation pixels, and try to find the maximum arrangement in which all scintillation pixels are imaged. The detector was designed using DETECT2000, which can simulate a detector made of a scintillator. Simulations were performed by configuring the detectors from an 11 × 11 scintillation pixel array to a 16 × 16 array. After obtaining a flood image by collecting the light generated from the scintillation pixel with a photosensor, the largest arrangement without overlap was found through image analysis. As a result, the largest arrangement in which all scintillation pixels could be distinguished without overlapping was a 15 × 15 arrangement.

  • Mammography using X-rays is currently the most used for early diagnosis of breast cancer. As the frequency of use of X-ray devices increases, interest in radiation hazards caused by mammography is increasing. Therefore, in this study, in order to measure the exposure dose of the mammary gland in X-ray mammography that requires high contrast and high resolution, the international Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stipulates the international standards presented by IEC 62220-1-2: 2015. Based on the beam quality criteria of the recommendation, we tried to present a guideline for evaluating the average mammary gland dose. As a result, the average streamline dose value of the 4.5 cm PMMA phantom was 2.3 mGy at the maximum within the 30 kV range, and was evaluated to be 1.19 mGy based on 28 kV.

  • The purpose of this study is to comply with the operation and management of medical image information in PACS, the necessity of anonymizing the patient's personal information and the management status of the medical image information related to the personal The purpose of this study was to raise, discuss, and suggest the need for unification and coherence of the law by studying the content of the issues related to information related laws. In order to utilize information related to medical image information, it is necessary to unify the "Medical Act" or the "Bioethics Act" for clear legal application and consider the legal system's consistency. Since there is a possibility of conflict due to issues that are not yet established, systematic coherence of the law is required to find the basic common denominator for the utilization and use of medical image information and to harmonize the law. In addition, the necessity of enacting the "Medical Information Protection Act" that can be practically applied and easily practiced by medical personnel and managers in the clinical field so that sensitive matters of medical image information and personal information can be protected and managed in a specific and systematic way.

  • In the field of imaging medicine, computed tomography is one of the most common test methods and one of the most frequently used test methods in hospitals. However, it is accompanied by a very high radiation exposure compared to other test methods. In order to reduce exposure, CT scans should be performed only when absolutely necessary, and even if the tests are performed because they are absolutely necessary, a protocol that serves the purpose of the test and allows the test to be performed in a small dose should be used. In this study, we wanted to learn about the most up-to-date radiation dose usage information used by the region's leading general hospitals and develop a diagnostic reference level (DRL). In the experimental results, the Head CT and Abdomen CT tests showed that DLP was higher than the NRPB (U.K) and Korean DRL. The DLP values used by Chest CT were low for all 3 types of CT devices. The hospital found that efforts to reduce exposure should be made during CT examinations, and in particular, Head CT and Abdomen CT determined that efforts to reduce exposure were necessary.

  • In this study, a 3D printed assistive device was applied to X-ray examinations to diagnose human diseases. Based on the results of evaluating the device, statistical and regression analyses were conducted to evaluate its clinical utility and purchase intention, respectively. In the experiment, 90 radiologists performed X-ray examinations on patients who agreed with the use of the assistive device in oblique view X-rays of the lumbar spine, and then statistical analyses were undertaken with a traditional aid and factor analysis. The non-standardized coefficient values of the multiple regression analysis performed by setting the purchase intention of the 3D printed device as the dependent variable and the 3D printed device and traditional aid calculated by factor analysis as independent variables were 0.893 (p<0.001) and 0.269 (p<0.001), indicating statistically significant results. The results show that the 3D printed assistive device proposed in this study has higher clinical utility than traditional aids used in oblique view X-rays of the lumbar spine.

  • The algebraic reconstruction technique is one of the reconstruction methods in CT and shows good image quality against noise-dominant conditions. The number of iteration is one of the key factors determining the execution time for the algebraic reconstruction technique. However, there are some rules for determining the number of iterations that result in more than a few hundred iterations. Thus, the rules are difficult to apply in practice. In this study, we proposed a method to determine the number of iterations for practical applications. The reconstructed image quality shows slow convergence as the number of iterations increases. Image quality 𝜖 < 0.001 was used to determine the optimal number of iteration. The Shepp-Logan head phantom was used to obtain noise-free projection and projections with noise for 360, 720, and 1440 views were obtained using Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation that has the same geometry dimension as a clinic CT system. Images reconstructed by around 10 iterations within the stop condition showed good quality. The method for determining the iteration number is an efficient way of replacing the best image-quality-based method, which brings over a few hundred iterations.

  • In this study, the thermoluminescence kinetics of electron trap in Li6Y0.5Gd0.5(BO3)3 (LY0.5G0.5BO) scintillator for neutron detection composed of Li, Gd, and B with a high neutron response cross-section were investigated. The thermoluminescence glow curve of the LY0.5G0.5BO scintillation single crystal was measured and analyzed using the peak shape method, the initial rise method, and the machine learning algorithm to evaluate the physical parameters of the electron trap. The glow curve of the LY0.5G0.5BO scintillation single crystal consisted of a single peak. As a result of analyzing this peak, the activation energy, emission order, and frequency factor of the electron trap were 0.61 eV, 1.1, and 1.7×107 s-1, respectively. In addition, the possibility of thermoluminescence analysis of scintillators using machine learning was confirmed.

  • In this study, a scintillation resin for 3D printing was fabricated with 1.0 wt% of PPO organic scintillator, 5.0 wt% of MMA, and commercial acrylic resin. Using the scintillation resin, 3D-shaped plastic scintillator radiation sensors were successfully fabricated quickly and inexpensively with a commercial 3D DLP printer. The 3D printed plastic scintillator has a good dose-output linearity of R-square 0.998 was obtained in the range of 1 to 10 nA of beam current of the 45 MeV proton beam. The developed 3D plastic scintillator has low light output, so there is a limit to its use in low-dose-rate gamma-ray or X-ray dosimetry. However, it was confirmed that the tissue equivalent material could be usefully used for measuring high energy or high dose rates radiation, such as proton beams and ultra-high dose rate beams.
