Recently, various new services based on ubiquitous computing and networking have been developed. In this paper, we contrive Adaptive PIR(Pyroelectric Infrared Radiation) Detection Algorithm (APIDA), a PIR-sensor based digital signal processing algorithm, that detects the movement of an invading object by the recognition of heat change in the detection area, since the object like person or car emits heat(i.e., infrared radition), We devised APIDA as a highly reliable signal processing algorithm that increases the successful detection rate and decreases the false alarm rate in the intruding object detection. According to performance evaluation experiment, APIDA shows the successful detection rate of 90% and low false alarm in the plain area.
It was common knowledge in textbooks that images acquired using mid-infrared ray were not suitable for measuring temperature near room temperature. But a recent satellite image using a mid-infrared sensor show the possibility that the result measured using the mid-infrared sensor can also measure the temperature near room temperature. In this paper, the possibility and accuracy of extraction room temperature information from satellite images with mid-infrared sensors are reviewed. The mid-infrared satellite image reviewed in this paper showed the temperature of room temperature well, and regarding the reliability as an absolute value of the measured temperature, the effect of the heat transfer amount due to the direct reflection of sunlight on the surface and the effect of the infrared absorption amount absorbed in the atmosphere can be seen as a relatively small or constant value. However, the problem of uncertainty in the radiation coefficient due to physical properties, which is the limit of the non-contact thermometer, remained a problem to be solved.

Purpose : X-ray film over responds to low-energy photons in relative photon beam dosimetry because its sensor is based on silver bromide crystals, which are high-Z molecules. This over-response becomes a significant problem in clinical photon beam dosimetry particularly in regions outside the penumbra. In intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), the radiation field is characterized by multiple small fields and their outside-penumbra regions. Therefore, in order to use film dosimetry for IMRT, the nature the source of the over-response in its radiation field need to be known. This study is aimed to verify and possibly improve film dosimetry for IMRT. Materials and Method : Modulated beams were constructed by a combination of five or seven different static radiation fields using 6 MeV X-rays. In order to verify film dosimetry, we used X-ray film and an ion chamber were used to measure the dose profiles at various depths in a phantom. In addition, in order to reduce the over-response, 0.01 inch thick lead filters were placed on both sides of the film. Results : The measured dose profiles showed a film over-response at the outside-penumbra and low dose regions. The error increased with depths and approached 15% at a maximum for the field size of $15{\times}15cm^2$ at 10 cm depth. The use of filters reduced the error to 3%, but caused an under-response of the dose in a perpendicular set-up. Conclusion : This study demonstrated that film dosimetry for IMRT involves sources of error due to its over-response to low-energy Photons. The use of filers can enhance the accuracy in film dosimetry for IMRT. In this regard, the use of optimal filter conditions is recommended.

The radiation observation data will be used importantly in research field such as climatology, weather, architecture, agro-livestock and marine science. The Ieodo Ocean Research Station (IORS) is regarded as an ideal observatory because its location can minimize the solar radiation reflection from the surrounding background and also the data produced here can serve as a reference data for radiation observation. This station has the potential to emerge as a significant observatory and join a global radiation observation group such as the Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN), if the surrounding of observatory is improved and be equipped with the essential radiation measuring instruments (pyaranometer and pyrheliometer). IORS has observed the solar radiation using a pyranometer since November 2004 and the data from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2015 were analyzed in this study. During the period of this study, the daily mean solar radiation observed from IORS decreased to $-3.80W/m^2/year$ due to the variation of the sensor response in addition to the natural environment. Since the yellow sand and fine dust from China are of great interest to scientists around the world, it is necessary to establish a basis of global joint response through the radiation data obtained at the Ieodo as well as at Sinan Gageocho and Ongjin Socheongcho Ocean Research Station. So it is an urgent need to improve the observatory surrounding and the accuracy of the observed data.
The reflectance observed in the visible channels of a geostationary meteorological satellite can be used to calculate the amount of cloud by comparing the reflectance with the observed solar radiation data at the ground. Using this, the solar radiation arriving at the surface can be estimated. This study used the Meteorological Imager (MI) reflectance observed at a wavelength of 675 nm and the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) reflectance observed at similar wavelengths of 660 and 680 nm. Cloudy days during a typhoon and sunny days with little cloud cover were compared using observation data from the geostationary satellite. Pixels that had more than 40% reflectance in the satellite images showed less than 0.3 of the cloud index and blocked more than 70% of the solar energy. Pixels that showed less than 15% reflectance showed more than 0.9 of the cloud index and let through more than 90% of the solar energy to the surface. The calculated daily accumulated solar radiation was compared with the observed daily accumulated solar radiation in 22 observatories of the Korean Meteorological Administration. The values calculated for the COMS and MTSAT MI sensors were smaller than the observation and showed low correlations of 0.94 and 0.93, respectively, which were smaller than the 0.96 correlation coefficient calculated for the GOCI sensor. The RMSEs of MTSAT, COMS MI and GOCI calculation results showed 2.21, 2.09, 2.02 MJ/$m^2$ in order. Comparison of the calculated daily accumulated results from the GOCI sensor with the observed data on the ground gave correlations and RMSEs for cloudy and sunny days of 0.96 and 0.86, and 1.82 MJ/$m^2$ and 2.27 MJ/$m^2$, respectively, indicating a slightly higher correlation for cloudy days. Compared to the meteorological imager, the geostationary ocean color imager in the COMS satellite has limited observation time and observation is not continuous. However, it has the advantage of providing high resolution so that it too can be useful for solar energy analysis.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of irradiation temperature on the physicochemical and sensory properties of Tarakjuk, milk porridge. Tarakjuk was gamma-irradiated at different temperatures of $25^{\circ}C$ (in room), $4^{\circ}C$ (in ice), and $-20^{\circ}C$ (in dry ice) at a dose of 10 kGy, and then autoclaved at $120^{\circ}C$ for 15 min for comparison. pH and Hunter's color value of Tarakjuk were not changed by irradiation regardless of the temperature. However, the TBA (2-thiobarbituric acid) value decreased as irradiation temperature was decreased. The viscosity of Tarakjuk irradiated in dry ice was significantly higher than that irradiated at room temperature and in ice (p<0.05). For the sensory evaluation, there were no significant differences in overall acceptability between non-treated Tarakjuk and that irradiated in dry ice. Flavor pattern analysis using an electronic nose with a SAW (surface acoustic wave) sensor determined that the main peaks at retention times 3.88 and 7.34 sec were related with off-flavor induced by irradiation and unique flavor of Tarakjuk, respectively. These results indicated that irradiation at freezing temperature improved quality deterioration of Tarakjuk by gamma irradiation. However, sensory quality of Tarakjuk irradiated at freezing temperature was still lower than that of non-irradiated Tarakjuk. Therefore, further research is needed to improve the quality of Tarakjuk using combined treatment such as addition of antioxidants and vacuum packaging method.

This paper describes the smoke filling process of a fire field model based on a self-deve-loped SMEP (Smoke Movement Estimating Program) code to the simulation of fire induced flows in the two types of atrium space containing a ceiling heat flux. The SMEP using PISO algorithm solves conservation equations for mass, momentum, energy and species, together with those for the modified k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model with buoyancy production term. Also it solves the radiation equation using the discrete ordinates method. Compressibility is assumed and the perfect gas law is used. Comparison of the calculated upper-layer average tempera-ture and smoke layer clear height with the zone models has shown reasonable agreement. The zone models used are the CFAST and the NBTC one-room. For atrium fires with ceiling glass the ceiling heat flux by solar heat causes a high smoke temperature near the ceiling. However, it has no effect on the smoke movement such as the smoke layer clear heights that are important in fire safety. In conclusion, the smoke layer clear heights that are important in evacuation activity except the early of a fire were not as sensitive as the smoke layer tem-perature to the nature of ceiling heat flux condition. Thus, a fire sensor in atrium with ceiling glass has to consider these phenomena.
A flame detector responds either to radiant energy visible to the human eye or outside the range of human vision. Such a detector is sensitive to glowing embers, coals, or flames which radiate energy of sufficient intensity and spectral quality to actuate the alarm. An infra-red detectors can respond to the total IR component of the flame alone or in combination with flame flicker in the frequency range of 5 to 30 Hz. A major problem in the use of infrared detectors receiving total IR radiation is the possible interference of solar radiation in the infrared region. When detectors are located in places shielded from the sun, such as vaults, filtering or shielding the unit from the sun's rays is unnecessary. In this study, we proposed method for redue a false alarm with using filtering & sensor technology for distinguish of causes of raise a false alarm and pure flame.

In this paper we describe the maximum energy transfer of CSA(Capacitive Switching Antenna). CSA which is radiated antenna system contain energy storage and switch, antenna needs to high voltage source for electrical field radiation experiment. In this experiment we employed Marx generator as a charging source. CSA can radiate electrical field more efficiently by varying antenna capacitance. The electromagnetic generation system which was using CSA has some advantages which are more simple and more effective compared to exist system. We evaluated the performance of electromagnetic wave generating system using CSA. As a result UWB gain of system is 0.47, It is higher level than exist system is 0.3. Radiated electrical field strength at 1m is 70kV/m. It is measured by D-dot sensor and gap distance is 20mm. Center frequency of CSA is approximately 25MHz. When vary the antenna gap distance from 50mm to 20mm, we can find the radiation field strength is decrease and antenna center frequency is increased. We also simulated the energy transfer efficiency to compare with experiment result. Consequentially, CSA needs to appropriate capacitance which is similar value from marx generator for maximum energy transfer, and gap is less than 1mm to increase the CSA capacitance.
pMOSFET having 10 ${\mu}um$ thickness Gd layer has been tested to be used as a slow neutron sensor. The total thermal neutron cross section for the Gd is 47,000 barns and the cross section value drops rapidly with increasing neutron energy. When slow neutrons are incident to the Gd layer, the conversion electrons are emitted by the neutron absorption process. The conversion electrons generate electron-hole pairs in the $SiO_2$ layer of the pMOSFET. The holes are easily trapped in Oxide and act as positive charge centers in the $SiO_2$ layer. Due to the induced positive charges, the threshold turn-on voltage of the pMOSFET is changed. We have found that the voltage change is proportional to the accumulated slow neutron dose, therefore the pMOSFET having a Gd nuclear reaction layer can be used for a slow neutron dosimeter. The Gd-pMOSFET were tested at HANARO neutron beam port and $^{60}CO$ irradiation facility to investigate slow neutron response and gamma response respectively. Also the pMOSFET without Gd layer were tested at same conditions to compare the characteristics to the Gd-pMOSFET. From the result, we have concluded that the Gd-pMOSFET is very sensitive to the slow neutron and can be used as a slow neutron dosimeter. It can also be used in a mixed radiation field by subtracting the voltage change value of a pMOSFET without Gd from the value of the Gd-pMOSFET.
