  • Purpose: Digital medical image commenced with an introduction of PACS has become more popular today in the radiation diagnosis and medical treatment and made great progress, in particular, for medical testing field, whereas it has made slow progress for radiation therapy area. In order to accommodate the current trend of digital from analog, a spherical type mechanical check device (SMCD) that is form of spherical differing from the existing form of flat or cube has been designed and tested its practicability to replace the part in mechanical check with digital image from QA operation. Materials and Methods: If the distance maintains constant between source(target) and image detector with constant distance to the center of spherical type mechanical check device(SMCD), the size will be shown as a constant image at all times regardless of its direction exposed. For the test, two accurate hemispheres are made and put together which results in a sphere of the equilateral circle. Results: It enables a variety of implementation of the existing mechanical check using digital image as follows: congruity level of radiation field and light field, size accuracy of radiation field and collimation field, gantry rotation isocenter check, collimation rotation isocenter check, room laser accuracy check, collimation rotation angle check, couch rotation angle check, and more. Conclusion: It has proved its practicability in checking isocenter congruity level as real time at the time of simultaneous rotation between gantry and couch that is applied to the non-coplanar field, which had been hard to apply as a device formed of existing flat or cube.

  • The objective of this study is to monitor the radiation doses delivered to a cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) by comparing the absorbed doses calculated by a commercial treatment planning system (TPS) to those measured by an in vivo dosimeter. Accurate monitoring of the radiation absorbed by a CIED during radiotherapy is necessary to prevent damage to the device. We conducted this study on three patients, who had the CIED inserted and were to be treated with radiotherapy. Treatment plans were generated using the Eclipse system, with a progressive resolution photon optimizer algorithm and the Acuros XB dose calculation algorithm. Measurements were performed on the patients using optically stimulated luminescence detectors placed on the skin, near the CIED. The results showed that the calculated doses from the TPS were up to 5 times lower than the measured doses. Therefore, it is recommended that in vivo dosimetry be conducted during radiotherapy for CIED patients to prevent damage to the CIED.

  • In order to predict the lifetime of InP Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) devices and related circuits in the space radiation environment, a novel model including gamma radiation effects is proposed in this paper. Based on the analysis of radiation-induced device degradation effects including both DC and AC characteristics, a set of empirical expressions describing the device degradation trend are presented and incorporated into the Keysight model. To validate the effective of the proposed model, a series of radiation experiments are performed. The correctness of the novel model is validated by comparing experimental and simulated results before and after radiation.

  • This study statistically analyzed the difference of the stability of maintaining a respiratory period shown according to position and use of a device to search the tendency and usefulness of a device. The supine position showed better maintaining respiratory cycles than the prone position. The 85% of subjects who showed bad maintenance pattern of a respiratory cycle were significantly different pattern with using belly board. It could be said that there was a significant correlation between the maintenance of a respiratory cycle and relative index of respirational stability(p=0.044, kappa=0.607). The movement due to respiration was one of important considerations in the radiation therapy on chest, abdomen, and even pelvis. This study could contribute to the high quality radiation therapy by statistic analysis of respiratory signals and its application.

  • Introduction: Daily Q.A is the important step which must be preceded in a radiation treatment. Specially, radiation output measurement and laser alignment, SSD indicator related to a patient set-up recurrence must be confirmed for a reasonable radiation treatment. Daily Q.A proceeds correctness and a prompt way, and needs an objective measurement basis. Manufacture of the device which can facilitate confirmation of output measurement and appliances check at one time was requested. Methods and Materials: Produced the phantom formal daily check device which can confirm a lot of appliances check (output measurement and laser alignment, field size, SSD indicator) with one time of set up at a time, and measurement observed a linear accelerator (4 machine) for four months and evaluated efficiency. Result: We were able to confirm an laser alignment, field size, SSD indicator check at the same time, and out put measurement was possible with the same set up, so daily Q.A time was reduced, and were able to confirm an objective basis about each item measurement. As a result of having measured for four months, output measurement within ${\pm}\;2\%$, and measured laser alignment, field size, SSD indicator in range within ${\pm}\;1mm$. Conclusion: We can enforce output measurement and appliances check conveniently and time was reduced and was able to raise efficiency of business. We were able to bring n cost reduction by substitution expensive commercialized equipment. Further It is necessary to makes a product as strong and slight materials, and improve convenience of use.

  • Voltage of radiometer is measured experimentally using the radiation apparatus in each case of iron- and copper-plates as specimen heating device. The length between radiometer and conical shield and the temperature of specimen heating device are considered as variables. The length between radiometer and conical shield controls the amount of radiation from the specimen heating device. Emissivity for both iron-and copper-plates are calculated by using Stefan-Boltzmann equation. One of results shows that emissivity for both materials increases as the length between radiometer and conical shield increases.

  • ICs(Integrated circuits) for nuclear power plant exposed to radiation environment occur malfunctions and data errors by the TID(Total ionizing dose) effects among radiation-damage phenomenons. In order to protect ICs from the TID effects, this paper proposes a radiation-hardening of the logic circuit(D-latch) which used for the data synchronization and the clock division in the ICs design. The radiation-hardening technology in the logic device(NAND) that constitutes the proposed RH(Radiation-hardened) D-latch is structurally more advantageous than the conventional technologies in that it keeps the device characteristics of the commercial process. Because of this, the unit cell based design of the RH logic device is possible, which makes it easier to design RH ICs, including digital logic circuits, and reduce the time and cost required in RH circuit design. In this paper, we design and modeling the structure of RH D-latch based on commercial $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process using Silvaco's TCAD 3D tool. As a result of verifying the radiation characteristics by applying the radiation-damage M&S (Modeling&Simulation) technique, we have confirmed the radiation-damage of the standard D-latch and the RH performance of the proposed D-latch by the TID effects.

  • A study on radiation hardening of infrared(IR) detector, the chief component of IR camera was performed. The radiation test on IR sensor passivated with the ZnS by Co$^{60}$ gamma-ray over 1 Mrads showed the reduction in Ro by 1/100 which was related to the noise level. This effect that was caused by carrier trapping in the ZnS passivation layer increased the leakage current and resulted in degradation in the device performance. For the radiation hardening of IR devices we suggested the ones with CdTe passivation layer which had a tendency to reluctant to carrier trapping in its layer and developed test patterns. Radiation test to the patterns showed that the our CdTe passivated device could survived over 1 Mrad gamma-ray dose.

  • This experimental study is carried out one of the General Hospital in Kyungbok providence. Abdomen Phantom being located Anterior-posterior(AP) position on portable bed, and the portable X-ray generating device was placed the phantom at $-90^{\circ}$ direction. The experiment were set 65 kVp, 10 mAs, $10{\times}10\;cm^2$, 100 cm(FOD) for the measurement. Digital proportional counting tube survey meter was used for measuring the space scatter dose. Measurement points of horizontal distribution was set up at $30^{\circ}$ interval by increasing 50 cm radius of upside, downside, left and right. Vertical distribution of measurement points were set up for the vertical plane with a radius of at $30^{\circ}$ intervals with 50cm increments. It is concluded that longer distance from the soure of X-ray significantly decrease radiation dose to the patient and use of the radiation protection device should be applied in clinical practice to reduce dose to the patient.
