3D Navigation Real Time RSSI-based Indoor Tracking Application

  • Representation of various types of information in an interactive virtual reality environment on mobile devices had been an attractive and valuable research in this new era. Our main focus is presenting spatial indoor location sensing information in 3D perception in mind to replace the traditional 2D floor map using handheld PDA. Designation of 3D virtual reality by Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) demonstrates its powerful ability in providing lots of useful positioning information for PDA user in real-time situation. Furthermore, by interpolating portal culling algorithm would reduce the 3D graphics rendering time on low power processing PDA significantly. By fully utilizing the CC2420 chipbased sensor nodes, wireless sensor network was established to locate user position based on Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) signals. Implementation of RSSI-based indoor tracking method is low-cost solution. However, due to signal diffraction, shadowing and multipath fading, high accuracy of sensing information is unable to obtain even though with sophisticated indoor estimation methods. Therefore, low complexity and flexible accuracy refinement algorithm was proposed to obtain high precision indoor sensing information. User indoor position is updated synchronously in virtual reality to real physical world. Moreover, assignment of magnetic compass could provide dynamic orientation information of user current viewpoint in real-time.

  • As an essential part of the urban transportation system, precise perception of the traffic flow parameters at the traffic signal intersection ensures traffic safety and fully improves the intersection's capacity. Traditional detection methods of road traffic flow parameter can be divided into the micro and the macro. The microscopic detection methods include geomagnetic induction coil technology, aerial detection technology based on the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and camera video detection technology based on the fixed scene. The macroscopic detection methods include floating car data analysis technology. All the above methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Recently, indoor location methods based on wireless signals have attracted wide attention due to their applicability and low cost. This paper extends the wireless signal indoor location method to the outdoor intersection scene for traffic flow parameter estimation. In this paper, the detection scene is constructed at the intersection based on the received signal strength indication (RSSI) ranging technology extracted from the wireless signal. We extracted the RSSI data from the wireless signals sent to the road side unit (RSU) by the vehicle nodes, calibrated the RSSI ranging model, and finally obtained the traffic flow parameters of the intersection entrance road. We measured the average speed of traffic flow through multiple simulation experiments, the trajectory of traffic flow, and the spatiotemporal map at a single intersection inlet. Finally, we obtained the queue length of the inlet lane at the intersection. The simulation results of the experiment show that the RSSI ranging positioning method based on wireless signals can accurately estimate the traffic flow parameters at the intersection, which also provides a foundation for accurately estimating the traffic flow state in the future era of the Internet of Vehicles.

  • Most of life thing including human being have tendency of reaction with inherently their own pattern against environmental change caused by such as light, sound, smell etc. Especially, a sense of direction often works as a very important factor in such reaction. Actually, human or animal lift that can react instantly to a stimulus determine their action with a sense of direction to a stimulant. In this paper, we try to propose how to give a sense of direction to a robot using sound being representative stimulant, and tracking sensors being able to detect the direction of such sound source. We also try to propose how to determine the relative directions among devices or robots using the digital compass and the RSSI on wireless network.

  • IoT 기술은 대규모의 IoT 네트워크가 디바이스들로부터 수집되는 데이터들을 이용해 서비스를 제공하는 기술이다. 이러한 IoT 네트워크는 디바이스 상호 간 연결되어 있어 네트워크에 포함 되어있는 하나의 디바이스가 가지고 있는 취약점을 이용하면 IoT 네트워크 전체가 공격받을 수 있다. 따라서, IoT 디바이스는 사양의 높고 낮음에 관계없이 전체 네트워크의 보안 수준에 맞추어 보안 강도를 보장받아야 한다. 본 논문에서는 근래에 새롭게 제시된 "디바이스 DNA"를 이용하여 새로운 디바이스 인증 기술을 개발하는 것에 초점을 맞추어, "디바이스 DNA"로 디바이스 상에서 측정되는 Wi-Fi 신호강도(RSSI; Received Signal Strength Indication)를 사용할 수 있는 가능성을 보인다.

  • RF 신호 강도인 RSSI(Received Signal Strength indication)를 이용해 지역화를 하는 방법론이나 알고리즘은 많이 연구되어 왔다. 그러나 대다수의 연구에서 추가적인 장비를 요구하거나, 복잡한 시스템 환경을 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 일반적인 무선랜 환경을 사용할 수 있는 노트북에서, Windows 기반의 802.11의 RSSI를 이용해 지역화를 수행하였다. IEEE 802.11의 네트워킹 구성을 한 센서노드들 중에 AP(Access Point) 역할을 하는 한 개의 고정노드(Anchor)를 중심으로 다수의 움직일 수 있는 모바일 노드들의 위치를 추적해가는 방법이며, Anchor가 많아지거나 모바일 노드가 늘어나면 지역화의 정확도는 증가하게 된다. 이 방법은 일반적인 802.11의 무선랜 환경이 가능한 랩톱에서도 쉽게 적응이 가능하며, 부가적인 장비의 의존성이 전혀 없고 소프트웨어 적인 방법론으로 해결하였다. 또한 지역화가 가능함과 동시에 각각의 센서 노드들은 802.11을 이용한 데이터 송수신이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 MS의 Windows 플랫폼 기반으로 테스트하였고, 효과적으로 Beacon 패킷을 송출하기 위한 해법을 제시한다.

  • Most of campus vehicle management systems, so far, simply manages coming in or go out of vehicles, issuing a parking tickets. Recently some of them use RFID tags to count total numbers of cars in the campus, excluding exact parking position management. In this paper we propose a new campus vehicle management system using wireless sensor network location management scheme. This system adopts RSSI based location management method with some performance improvement technique. According to the experimental result, this proposed scheme can be used to implement an effective campus vehicle management system.

  • Modem warfares have changed from PCW (platform Centric Warfare) to NCW (Network Centric Warfare). Therefore, it is more important to operate and manage the network. This paper proposed a node management scheme in military wireless networks. In military wireless networks, nodes can join and leave the networks easily. It causes a degradation of network capacity. This paper figured out a problem caused by node which is leaving the network. This paper proposed a RSSI based method of estimating and detecting the leaving nodes in the networks. Finally, an experimental result was demonstrated to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • 무선 통신기술이 발전함에 따라 위치기반 서비스에 대한 관심 또한 증가하고 있다. 그 중 저전력 블루투스 기술을 사용한 비콘(Beacon)은 실내 위치인식이 불가능한 GPS와 달리 실내에서도 측위가 가능하여 사용성이 주목 받고 있다. 그러나 비콘으로부터 수신되는 RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) 값은 여러 환경요소로부터 영향을 받기 때문에 RSSI값을 기반으로 한 거리측정이 실제거리와의 오차가 크게 나타난다. 이에 따른 문제를 해결하기 위한 기존의 연구들이 존재하지만 평균적으로 10m이하의 거리에서 2m의 오차를 나타내고 있다. 본 연구에서는 RSSI의 오차를 줄이기 위해 확장 칼만 필터와 신호 안정화 필터를 사용하여 Raw Data를 전처리 한 후 산출된 Cleaned Data를 기반으로 각 거리단위에 최적화된 ANN(Artificial Neural Network)모델을 생성하여 거리를 측정하는 기법을 제안한다.

  • In this paper, we introduce the positioning methods using the grid sensor network. The basic operational principle of grid sensor network can be the wireless communication using the sensor node attached on the objects. Sink node receives the environmental information (e.g., temperature, humidity and so on), and transmits the information to the core database. Since the grid sensor network basically uses wireless communication, it is necessary to observe the place where grid sensor nodes to be installed. In this sense, we carried out the practical measurement on the wireless propagation in an applicable field. In addition, link budget study and SNR estimation works were done in accordance with the results from the measurement.
