The nondestructive internal quality evaluation of agricultural products has been strongly required from the needs for individual inspection. Recently, the ultrasonic wave has been considered as a solution fur this problem, and an ultrasonic system was constructed for the ultrasonic NDE of fruits and vegetables in our previous work. In this paper, the practical applicability of our ultrasonic system is tested fur the inspection of internal defects (central cavity) in Atlantic potato. Sound speed and RMS of transmitted ultrasonic wave signal were measured and classification algorithm using 2 dimensional stochastic analysis. was presented. Experimental results showed greater value of sound speed and RMS (root mean square) of transmitted signal in normal samples than in abnormal samples with cavity. Also a stochastic method to distinguish normal and abnormal showed fault detection rate less than 5%.
An experimental study on the prediction of grinding wheel wear by dual detection methods was conducted by the laser displacement and acoustic emission(AE) system. The laser displacement sensor was located above the head of the grinding wheel and the AE sensor was set under the workpiece, where the wheel were condition can be detected. It was found that the dual detection methods by laser displacement system and AE system made it possible to predict the wheel wear. From the experiments, the root mean square(RMS) values both methods was found to be proportional to the grinding wheel wear.
Recently, much research has been done and many improvements have been developed for islanding protection of distributed generation(DG). Anti-islanding protection for DG must be act very quickly to prevent equipment damage at the time of disconnection and for the safety of maintenance and repair personnel. DG-based detection methods have included both passive and active types, and now research has shifted towards new anti-islanding detection methods that make up for the defects of the previous types. Because differences occur between the utility grid and the DG when connecting and disconnecting depending on the phase difference, voltage, current, relative capacity of electric power, and system operation characteristics, voltage phase angle is an important consideration. In this paper, we simulated islanded operation characteristics comparing phase difference of DG and the connected utility grid, and analyzed various parameters (real power, reactive power, RMS voltage, RMS current, power factor angle, and frequency) by varying the DG's voltage phase angle. Using this information, we propose a suitable DG voltage phase angle for enhanced passive islanding detection techniques.
During a power swing, distance relays may mistakenly spread fault throughout the power grid, causing a great deal of damage. In some cases, such mistakes can cause global outages. For this reason, it is critical to make a distinction between power swings and faults in distance relays. In this paper, a new method is proposed based on RMS measurement to differentiate between faults and power swings. The proposed method was tested on two standard grids, demonstrating its capability in detecting a power swing and simultaneous fault with power swing. This method required no specific configurations, and was independent of grid type and zoning type of distance relays. This feature in practice allows the relay to be installed on any grid with any kind of coordination. In protective relays, the calculations applied to the microprocessor is of great importance. Distance relays are constantly calculating the current RMS values for protection purposes. This mitigates the computations in the microprocessor to detect power swings. The proposed method was able to differentiate between a fault and a power swing. Furthermore, it managed to detect faults occurring simultaneously with power swings.
In this paper, series-arc detection algorithm for the consumer appliances is proposed. This algorithm uses varying frequency and RMS values at series-arc state. This is confirmed to emulate arc detecting with measuring current data.
Recently, a concern of power qualify increases because of electronic device development and well-being generation. Power quality problems such as voltage sag, harmonics, flicker etc. have adverse effects on electric devices. Therefore, power quality problems have been monitored. This paper studies a detection of voltage sag that is more severer than the others. A voltage sag has been monitored using rms or wavelet method. This paper proposes an advance detection method using wavelet. An error Of Start Point differs error of ending point. We use this difference. So, we respectively revise detection error. Also, we revise multiplying average error rate.

This paper presents a 1.248 Gb/s - 2.918 Gb/s low-power receiver MIPI-DigRF M-PHY with a fully digital frequency detection loop. MIPI-DigRF M-PHY should be operated in a very short training time which is $0.01{\mu}s$ the for HS-G2B mode. Because of this short SYNC pattern, clock and data recovery (CDR) should have extremely fast locking time. Thus, the quarter rate CDR with a fully digital frequency detection loop is proposed to implement a fast phase tracking loop. Also, a low power CDR architecture, deserializer and voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) are proposed to meet the low power requirement of MIPI-DigRF M-PHY. This chip is fabricated using a $0.11{\mu}m$ CMOS process, and the die area is $600{\mu}m{\times}250{\mu}m$. The power consumption of the receiver is 16 mW from the supply voltage of 1.1 V. The measured lock time of the CDR is less than 20 ns. The measured rms and peak jitter are $35.24ps_{p-p}$ and $4.25ps_{rms}$ respectively for HS-G2 mode.
In this paper, we demonstrate the neutron attenuation of dry cask shielding materials using the S670e helium-4 detector manufactured by Arktis Radiation Ltd. In particular, two materials expected to be applied to the TN-32 dry cask manufactured by ORANO Korea and KORAD-21 by the Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (KORAD) were utilized. The measured neutron attenuation was compared with our Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport simulation results, and the difference is given as the root mean square (RMS). For the fast neutron case, a rapid decline in neutron counts was observed as a function of increasing material thickness, exhibiting an exponential relationship. The discrepancy between the experimentally acquired data and simulation results for the fast neutron was maintained within a 2.3% RMS. In contrast, the observed thermal neutron count demonstrated an initial rise, attained a maximum value, and exhibited an exponential decline as a function of increasing thickness. In particular, the discrepancy between the measured and simulated peak locations for thermal neutrons displayed an RMS deviation of approximately 17.3-22.4%. Finally, the results suggest that a minimum thickness of 5 cm for Li-6 is necessary to achieve a sufficiently significant cross-section, effectively capturing incoming thermal neutrons within the dry cask.
Many voltage sag compensators have been introduced, including the traditional dynamic voltage restorer (DVR), which requires an energy storage device but is inadequate for compensating deep and long-duration voltage sags. The AC-AC sag compensators introduced next do not require a storage device and they are capable of compensating voltage sags. This type of compensator needs an AC-AC converter to regulate the output voltage. Presented in this paper is a three-phase PWM-switched autotransformer voltage sag compensator based on an AC-AC converter that uses a proposed detection technique and PWM voltage control as a controller. Its effectiveness and capability in instantly detecting and compensating voltage sags were verified via MATLAB/Simulink simulations and further investigated through a laboratory prototype developed with a TMS320F2812 DSP as the main controller.
