  • A single-stage power factor correction AC/DC converter with a simple link voltage suppressing circuit (LVSC) for the universal line application is proposed. Using this simple circuit a low link voltage can be realized without deadbands at line zero-crossings. The proposed converter is analyzed and a prototype converter with 5C, 12V output is implemented to verify the performance. The experimental results show that the link voltage stress and efficiency are about 447V and 81%, respectively.

  • ITER CS, VS, CC AC/DC Converter는 4상한 동작을 하며, PCS(Plasma Control System)에서 명령하는 출력 전압 제어를 컨버터 교류 입력 전압 변동을 보상하는 Feed-forward 방식을 사용한다. Feed-forward 제어를 위하여 교류 입력 전압에 대한 실시간 정밀 측정이 가능한 RMS 계산이 필요하다. 본 논문은 RMS 연산에 대한 개선된 방법을 제안하면서 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 해당 알고리즘을 검증하였고 이에 대한 내용을 논의하고자 한다.

Analysis and Design of a PFC AC-DC Converter with Electrical Isolation

  • This study presents a single-phase power factor correction AC-DC converter that operates in discontinuous conduction mode. This converter uses the pulse-width modulation technique to achieve almost unity power factor and low total harmonic distortion of input current for universal input voltage $90V_{rms}$ to $264V_{rms}$) applications. The converter has a simple structure and electrical isolation. The magnetizing-inductor energy of the transformer can be recycled to the output without an additional third winding. The steady-state analysis of voltage gain and boundary operating conditions are discussed in detail. Finally, experimental results are shown to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

  • In case of the power conversion converter for driving the Lighting control system, the input voltage widens from $90V_{rms}$ to $264V_{rms}$. Among various methods, LLC half-bridge converter has wide input regulation range and limited switching frequency control range and ZVS is possible for even non-loaded case. Also, the converter can be applied for Universal Lighting control system. In this paper, the transformer design is studied. The efficiency measured is up to 90%.

  • This paper presents a zero voltage and zero current switching (ZVZCS) interleaving two-transistor forward converter for high input voltage and high power application. A phase shift has a disadvantage that a circulating current and RMS current stress, conduction losses of transformer and switching devices increases. Due to this circulating current and RMS current stress, conduction losses of transformer and switching devices increases. To alleviate these problems, we propose an improved interleaving two-transistor forward Zero Voltage and Zero Current Switching (ZVZCS) dc/dc converter using a tapped inductor a snubber capacitor and two snubber diodes attached at the secondary side of transformer. The proposed ZVZCS converter is verified on a 1.8kW, 5kHz experimental prototype.

  • A new single stage power factor corrected AC/DC converter has been proposed, that is unified with buck topology and suitable for universal input. The design example of the proposed converter lot 5V 12A application has been presented. The design considerations and simulation results for the proposed converter have been shown. The simulation results show that the line input current harmonics can meet IEC 1000-3-2 Class D requirements for the line input voltage from 90 to 260V.

  • 본 논문에서는 역률개선용 단일 스위치 부스트 플라이백 결합형 ZCS quasi-resonant converter(QRC)를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 입력전류를 불연속 모드로 동작시켜 역률을 개선하며 입력전류의 zero-crossing-point에서의 왜곡을 개선함으로써 고조파를 감소시켜 역률을 향상시켰으며 좋은 출력전압의 regulation 성능을 가지고 있다. 그리고 체계적인 설계를 위하여 설계식을 제안하였으며 제안된 설계식을 통하여 프로토타입 컨버터를 설계하였다. 실험결과 효율은 약 86%, 역률은 약 0.985이상을 얻었다. 따라서 본 컨버터는 스위칭 주파수가 수백kHz이상이고 높은 regulation성능을 요구하는 낮은 전압의 소용량 컨버터에 적합하다.

Analysis and Design of a Single-Phase Tapped-Coupled-Inductor Boost DC-DC Converter

  • A single-phase tapped-inductor boost converter has been proposed previously. However, detailed characterization and performance analysis were not conducted. This paper presents a detailed characterization, performance analysis, and design expressions of a single-phase tapped-coupled-inductor boost converter. Expressions are derived for average and RMS input current as well as for RMS input and output capacitor current ripple. A systematic approach for sizing the tapped-coupled inductor, active switch, and output diode is presented; such approach has not been reported in related literature. This study reveals that sizing of the inductor has to be based on current ripple requirement, turns ratio, and load. Conditions that produce discontinuous inductor current are also discussed. Analysis of a non-ideal converter operating in continuous conduction mode is also conducted. The expression for the voltage ratio considering the coupling coefficient is derived. The suitability of the converter for high-voltage step-up applications is evaluated. Factors that affect the voltage boost ratio are also identified. The effects of duty ratio and load variation on the performance of the converter are also investigated. The theoretically derived characteristics are validated through simulations. Experimental results obtained at a low power level are included to validate the analytical and simulation results. A good agreement is observed among the analytical, simulation, and experimental results.

고효율 공진형 비대칭 하프브리지 플라이백컨버터 (High Efficiency Resonant Asymmetrical Half-Bridge Flyback Converter)

  • 본 논문에서는 고효율 공진형 비대칭 하프브리지 플라이백컨버터가 제안된다. 컨버터의 1차측 하프브리지 회로는 공진커패시턴스와 변압기 누설인덕턴스를 이용하여 비대칭 펄스폭변조(PWM; Pulse-Width Modulation) 방식에 의한 소프트스위칭 형태로 동작한다. 그리고 컨버터 2차측의 플라이백 회로는 간단한 구동회로에 의해 새로운 전압구동방식으로 동작하는 동기정류기를 이용한다. 제안된 컨버터는 이렇게 하여 컨버터의 전체효율을 향상시킨다. 또한 본 논문에서는 제안된 컨버터의 동작원리를 모드별로 설명하고 컨버터 설계 시의 고려사항과 프로토타입 컨버터의 설계 예를 각각 제시한다. 그리고 본 논문에서 제안하는 전압구동방식으로 동작하는 동기정류기의 간단한 구동기법에 관하여 간략하게 설명한다. 설계된 프로토타입 컨버터는 광범위 입력전압(교류 $V_{in,rms}$=75~265[V])이 가능하며 5[V]의 직류 출력전압과 100[W]의 출력전력을 가진다. 제안된 컨버터의 우수한 성능을 입증하기 위하여 설계된 파라미터로써 프로토타입 컨버터를 제작하여 실험하였으며, 이를 통하여 제안된 컨버터의 우수한 성능을 보인다.

풍력 발전용 포워드 컨버터의 역률 개선에 관한 기초 연구 (A Study on Power Factor Correction Forward Converter for Wind Power Generation)

  • This paper presents a detailed analysis method of the universal input forward converter with LC input filter operating in discontinuous capacitor voltage mode(DCVM) for wind power generation. In this analysis, condition for DCVM operation and conversion ratio for rectified sinusoidal input are made clear. To verify the validity of the analysis, simulation is carried out for the universal input ranging from 90 $V_{rms} to 260 V_{rms}$
