  • In this paper, a CMOS Tx RF/IF single chip for PCS applications is designed. The chip consumes 84mA from a 3V supply and the layout area without pads is 1.6mm$\times$3.5mm. Simulation results show that the RF block composed of a SSB RF block and a driver amplifier exhibits a gain of 14.8dB and an OIP3 of 7dBm. The image and carrier suppressions are 35dBc and 31dBc, respectively. The designed circuits are under fabrication using a 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS process.

  • This paper has been studied a predistorter which is able to linierizing of RF amplifier using schottkey. If input signal level is low, input signal is delivered directly. And if input signal level is high, input signal Is delivered with decreasing. So RF amplifier always works at saturation region .When this predistorter is used to simplified C-class RF amplifier, we have concluded that efficiency is improved about 3%.

  • In this paper, we design a direct radio frequency (RF) sampling receiver for multiband GNSS signals and demonstrate its performance. The direct RF sampling is a technique that does not use an analog mixer, but samples the passband signal directly, and all receiver processes are done in digital domain, whereas the conventional intermediate frequency (IF) receiver samples the IF band signals. In contrast to the IF sampling receiver, the RF sampling receiver is less complex in hardware, reconfigurable, and simultaneously converts multiband signals to digital signals with an analog-to-digital (AD) converter. The reconfigurability and simultaneous reception are very important in military applications where rapid change to other system is needed when a system is jammed by an enemy. For simultaneous reception of multiband signals, the sampling frequency should be selected with caution by considering the carrier frequencies, bandwidths, desired intermediate frequencies, and guard bands. In this paper, we select a sampling frequency and design a direct RF sampling receiver to receive multiband global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals such as GPS L1, GLONASS G1 and G2 signals. The receiver is implemented with a commercial AD converter and software. The receiver performance is demonstrated by receiving the real signals.

  • In this paper we have proposed a new architecture of DQ-IRM(Double-Quadrature Image Rejection Mixer) for image rejection in the low-IF receiver. It consist of a frequency-tunable RF PPF(Poly Phase Filter) and the quadrature mixers. The conventional DQ-IRM generates the quadrature RF signals for the RF wide band at once. But the proposed DQ-IRM with the frequency-tuable RF PPF generates the quadrature RF signals for the narrow band of 2~3 channels bandwidth, which is partitioned from the RF wide band. We designed the CMOS RF tuner for T-DMB(Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) with the proposed 3rd DQ-IRM using a 0.18um CMOS technology and verified the performances of the designed receiver such as the image rejection ratio, the noise figure and the power consumption. The overall NF of the RF tuner is about 1.26 dB and the image reject ratio is about 51 dB. The power consumption is 55.8 mW at 1.8 V supply voltage. The chip area is $3.0{\times}2.5mm^2$.

  • In this.paper, we introduce design and implementation results of the single balanced diode mixer for European point-to-point microwave radio in order to improve flatness performance. When a resonator such as RF filter is integrated with a mixer, impedance characteristic of 50 ohm is maintained only in RF band, not in LO band resulting deterioration of flatness performance because of LO power variation on the diode. In the paper, we suggest a design method of mixer integrated with image rejection filter and LO harmonic filter to have a better performance of flatness using embedding electrical length between filter and mixer's port. Frequency specification of fabricated mixer is $21.2{\sim}22.6\;GHz$ for RF, $19.32{\sim}20.72\;GHz$ for LO and 1.88 GHz+/-50 MHz for IF, respectively. Measured results show conversion loss of 8.5 dB, flatness of 2 dB, input PldB of 8 dBm, IIP3 of 15 dBm under LO power level of 10 dBm. Return losses of RF, LO and IF port are under -12 dB, -10 dB and -5 dB, respectively. Isolations of LO/RF and LO/IF are 20 dB and 50 dB, respectively.

  • This paper fabricated and analyzed the image rejection mixer that uses FET's channel resistance. It can be applied for capacity 64QAM that has 50MHz~90MHz of IF band, 8.17GHz of LO frequency and 8.08~8.12GHz of RF band. When IF input power is -20dBm and LO input power is 10dBm, RF output power is obtained -33.2dBm. In this case, conversion loss is 12.9dB, the suppression of 14.3dB for LO frequency and 10.4dB for image frequency. The result of two tone test shows great IMD characteristics with 51.7dBc.

  • This letter presents a CMOS RF front-end operating in a subthreshold region for low-power Band-III mobile TV applications. The performance and feasibility of the RF front-end are verified by integrating with a low-IF RF tuner fabricated in a 0.13-${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The RF front-end achieves the measured noise figure of 4.4 dB and a wide gain control range of 68.7 dB with a maximum gain of 54.7 dB. The power consumption of the RF front-end is 13.8 mW from a 1.2 V supply.

  • A GPS receiver platform has been developed to design an interference rejection filter and the platform is also able to evaluate performance of those filters. This platform consists of RF/IF part, data acquisition part and PC part. The RF/IF part converts RF signals to IF signals, the data acquisition part transmits the IF signals to PC using USB device. The PC part rejects the interferences with a filter and then it does navigation with GPS software receiver. The RF/IF part and data acquisition part had been validated with signal spectrum, and the PC part had been validated with the navigation results of GPS receiver. Finally, the entire platform including interference rejection filter has been confirmed with the navigation results in case that the GPS signals and interference entered this platform. As a result, the GPS receiver operated well against interference with 45dB JSR.

  • In this paper, the key technologies of Navigation receiver for GNSS sensor station are presented as a development result of a GNSS ground station in ETRI. A wide-band antenna and RF/IF components and SW signal processing unit to cover the GPS and Galileo signals for GNSS receiver are developed and its performance is verified by using GPS live signal and GNSS RF signal simulator from SpirentTM. We also gather GIOVE-A signal by using H/W antenna and RF/IF units in IF-level as sampling frequency and bit number, 112MHz and 8bits, respectively by using the developed wide-band antenna and RF/IF components. Data acquisition is done by using commercial data acquisition device from National Instrument TM. • In this paper, we have developed a new type of the microwave phase conjugator for the active retrodirective antenna array. The circuit topology is consisted of a 2-port structure to avoid the complexity of LO and RF signal combination and matching, using the cascade connection of two single-ended mixers. The operating frequencies are 4.0 GHz, 2.01 GHz and 1.99 GHz for LO, RF, and IF, respectively. Conversion loss is measured to be -7 dB and 1-dB compression point 15 dBm with the LO power of 9 dBm. For the most important parameter, the isolation between RE leakage and IF signal is as high as 25 dB.
