  • This paper proposes the range and velocity of the object estimation method using a moving camera. Structure and motion (SaM) estimation is to estimate the Euclidean geometry of the object as well as the relative motion between the camera and object. Unlike the previous works, the proposed estimation method can relax the camera and object motion constraints. To this end, we arrange the dynamics of moving camera-moving object relative motion model in an appropriate form such that the nonlinear observer can be employed for the SaM estimation. Through both simulations and experiments we have confirmed the validity of the proposed estimation algorithm.

  • Using LSM (laser scanning method) , the radius of curvature due to thermal deformation in polyimide film coated on Si substrate is measured. Since the polyimide film shows viscoelastic behavior, i.e., the modulus and deformation of the film vary with time and temperature, we estimate the relaxation modulus and the residual stresses of the polyimide film by measuring the radius of curvature and subsequently by performing viscoelastic analysis. The residual stresses relax by an amount of 10% at 100$^{\circ}C$ and 20% at 150$^{\circ}C$ for two hours.

  • Sensorial tests were executed to find the sensibility and texture of the fabrics. The physiological responses employed in this study was electroencephalogram(EEG). The purpose of this study is to find out how the sample groups responded to the texture of the woven silks and the woven ramie. The sample groups are of 10 males and females, age of 25. EEG was recorded a fast and slow alpha wave according to the texture of the textiles. The sample fabrics are of woven silk and woven ramie. The results obtained as be lows. When the sample groups touched the woven silk, they responded and showed more slow alpha wave than the woven ramie. The slow alpha wave raised when the sample groups felt comfort and relax. The fast alpha wave were more in the woven ramie, it raised when the people felt the tension and the anxiety. There was no significant difference between the male and the female. Woven silk has the soft and smoothness it causes comfort. The sensation of tactile was recorded through the EEG.

  • On February 20, 2003, the FCC, the regulator in US, adopted its UNE triennial Review decision, the most sweeping ruling affecting the telecommunications industry since 1996. The FCC adopted a policy of preserving access to the legacy network, while deregulating new, "next generation" networks utilizing fiber facilities. Baby bell like Verizon, SBC strongly insisted that the FCC should relax the unbundling rules to be enlarged the network investment of telecommunication providers. However, this FCC′s determination looks like the partial acceptance of their assertions. This paper mainly will review the existing studies about the impact of UNEs on investment incentives and then find out some implications to be applied in Korea.

  • T.H. Kim, H.K. Xu, [Convergence of the modified Mann's iteration method for asymptotically strict pseudo-contractions, Nonlinear Anal.(2007),doi:l0.l016/j.na.2007.02.029.] proved the strong convergence for asymptotically strict pseudo-contractions by the classical CQ iterative method. In this paper, we apply the monotone CQ iterative method to modify the classical CQ iterative method of T.H. Kim, H.K. Xu, and to obtain the strong convergence theorems for asymptotically strict pseudo-contractions. In the proved process of this paper, Cauchy sequences method is used, so we complete the proof without using the demi-closedness principle, Opial's condition or others about weak topological technologies. In addition, we use a ingenious technology to avoid defining that F(T) is bounded. On the other hand, we relax the restriction on the control sequence of iterative scheme.

  • In this paper, a new method to find the corpus callosum from sagittal brain MR images is proposed, which uses the statistical characteristics and shape information of corpus callosum. First, we extract regions satisfying the statistical characteristics of the corpus callosum and then find a region matching the shape information. In order to match the shape information, a new directed window region growing algorithm is proposed instead of using conventional contour matching algorithms. Using the proposed algorithm, we adaptively relax the statistical requirement until we find a region matching the shape information. Experiments show very promising results.

  • The Bodysonic system was invented on the basis of 'Bone Conduction Theory,' which states that people feel sounds with their whole body. The Bodysonic system is used for L2 (English) learning at Aichi Women's Junior College. In recent years we have developed some unique methodology related to use of the Bodysonic system. In Japan it is difficult for adult L2 learners to acquire the prosody of a foreign language. A language laboratory using the Bodysonic system has been suggested as one way to eradicate such adult L2 problems. The Bodysonic system changes sounds into vibrations. It makes it easy for learners to acquire the prosody of a foreign language because humans can convey information, through their tactile organs. In addition, this system was originally designed to make people relax, so it can also help minimize learner anxiety. The effect of Bodysonic vibrations on language learning has already been proven by some experiments. The Bodysonic system appears to be an ideal teaching method for adult to learn a foreign language.

  • Recently, importance of working environment is increased in commercial vessel and offshore structure. Marine facility design and ambient environment condition are influenced to enhancing human performance and reducing human errors. Consequently, the quality of accommodation where offshore facility crews sleep, eat and relax will influence their job performance and overall sense of comport and well-being. Therefore, adequate acoustic isolation between adjacent spaces is normally required to achieve satisfactory internal noise levels, acoustic privacy and speech intelligibility. In this study, the reverberation time is investigated in the public areas where there are not provided the information of material's noise reduction coefficient (NRC). The experiment of reverberation time is rarely performed for the various type public areas in a marine structure. Therefore, the reverberation time in a vessel is investigate in order to evaluate the room's noise reduction coefficient (NRC) in a public area.

  • A digital cable broadcasting service is a multimedia broadcasting service that provides high definition and various supplementary services by using digital transmission. Korea implemented a complete digital broadcasting service by 2012. This study applied a choice experiment to investigate consumer preferences, and it calculated the marginal willingness to pay for this service. Moreover, we employed a multinomial probit model to relax the assumption that all respondents have the same preference for attributes being valued. The results suggest that respondents value channels, definition, video-on-demand (VOD) service, pay-per-view (PPV) service, and commerce based on TV (T-commerce). On the other hand, online gaming may be less important as an attribute for digital cable broadcasting service in Korea.

  • In this study, some structural analysis using 3D CAD data, material properties, load conditions and boundary conditions are carried out to evaluate structural stability of the multi-aerial platform for high-rise fire fighting and rescue. We conduct structural analysis for the upper structures such as turn table, booms and basket, by using a universal structural analysis program NASTRAN. As the results, there is local stress exceeding the yield strength, but it is able to relax stress concentration in a way such as changing thickness of the structure or making larger inertia moment in cross section of booms.
