Systems Engineering approach to Reliability Centered Maintenance of Containment Spray Pump (시스템즈 엔지니어링 기법을 이용한 격납용기 살수펌프의 신뢰기반 정비기법 도입 연구)

  • This paper introduces a systems engineering approach to reliability centered maintenance to address some of the weaknesses. Reliability centered maintenance is a systematic, disciplined process that produces an efficient equipment management strategy to reduce the probability of failure [1]. The study identifies the need for RCM, requirements analysis, design for RCM implementation. Value modeling is used to evaluate the value measures of RCM. The system boundary for the study has been selected as containment spray pump and its motor drive. Failure Mode and Criticality Effects analysis is applied to evaluate the failure modes while the logic tree diagram used to determine the optimum maintenance strategy. It is concluded that condition based maintenance tasks should be enhanced to reduce component degradation and thus improve reliability and availability of the component. It is recommended to apply time directed tasks to age related failures and failure finding tasks to hidden failures.

Building TRMS S/W based on Reliability Centered Maintenance (신뢰성 기반의 유지보수를 위한 TRMS S/W개발)

  • In this paper the TRMS (Tilting Rolling-stock Maintenance System) that applies the concept of RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) and RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) to Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Policy for TTX (Tilting Train Express) will be discussed. We will briefly introduce the RCM concepts and discus show these concepts and procedures are implemented in the TRMS S/W. In the TRMS S/W there are four modules, System and Operations Information Module, FMECA(Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis)module, RAM Information Module, and RCM Analysis Module. The System and Operations Information Module provides the user interface for collection of systems and operations related data and the FMECA module provides a groundwork for the RCM analysis. The algorithms to calculate the reliability and failure rate for Weibull distribution and formulae to calculate the task intervals and task costs are proposed in the RAM and RCM Analysis Module respectively. There is a good possibility of applying RCM to other rolling stock maintenance systems if the benefit that RCM can brings to the maintenance world is fully recognized.

Application of Reliability Centered Maintenance Strategy to Safety Injection System for APR1400

  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) introduces a systematic method and decision logic tree for utilizing previous operating experience focused on reliability and optimization of maintenance activities. In this paper RCM methodology is applied on safety injection system for APR-1400. Functional Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FME&CA) are applied to evaluate the failure modes and the effect on the component, system and plant. Logic Tree Analysis (LTA) is used to determine the optimum maintenance tasks. The results show that increasing the condition based maintenance will reduce component failure and improve reliability and availability of the system. Also the extension of the surveillance test interval of Safety Injection Pumps (SIPs) would lead to an improved pump's availability, eliminate the unnecessary maintenance tasks and this will optimize maintenance activities.

  • The purpose of power system maintenance is to prevent equipment failure. The maintenance strategy should be designed to balance costs and benefits because frequent maintenance increases cost while infrequent maintenance can also be costly due to electricity outages. This paper proposes maintenance modeling of a power distribution system using reliability centered maintenance (RCM). The proposed method includes comprehensive equipment modeling and impact analysis to evaluate the effect of equipment faults. The problem of finding the optimum maintenance strategy is formulated in terms of dynamic programming. The applied power system is based on the RBTS Bus 2 model, and the results demonstrate the potential for designing a maintenance strategy using the proposed model.

RCM provides for the use of a decision logic tree to identify applicable and effective preventive maintenance requirements for equipment and structures. The end result of working through the decision logic is a judgement as to the necessity of performing a maintenance task. In this paper, we provide guiding principles based on IEC 60300-3-11 for RCM analysis methods and operational method of structure and equipment.

  • RCM(Reliability-centered Maintenance)은 유지 보수하고자 하는 기기에 대하여 시스템의 신뢰도와 안정성 및 경제적 측면을 고려하여 적용 가능하고 효율적인 유지보수 기법을 논리적으로 선택하는 기법이다. RCM은 이미 항고우주산업이나 원자력발전산업과 같은 곳에 적용되어 사용되고 있으며 전력설비 분야에도 도입되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 RCM 기법을 적응하여 개발 중인 당사의 전력설비관리 시스템에 대하여 그 구성 및 기능 등의 시스템 설계에 대하여 논하고자 한다.

  • This paper proposes optimal maintenance strategies for power distribution systems that involve the use of the reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) method. We developed an improved decision model based on the Markov process. This model can obtain the optimal inspection interval and maintenance method based on the total expected cost. We used ordinal optimization for solving the optimal problem. Optimal maintenance strategies were presented by applying the developed method to the RBTS model. A B/C analysis proved that these strategies offer maximum benefit-to-cost.

  • The purpose of Reliability Centered Maintenance(Hereafter, RCM) is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of preventive maintenance by applying the improvement plan after analysis of existing preventive maintenance. To accomplish this, it is required to collect the failure data for equipments during operation, and to carry out the quantitative criticality analysis for each equipment. This paper shows that the case study of RCM criticality analysis based on the accumulative failure data and following improvement activity for KORAIL AIRPORT RAILROAD's E&M system.
