The Electric Properties of Surface Coating with CePO4 and M3(PO4)2 (M=Mg, Zn) on Li4Ti5O12 for Energy Storage Capacitor

  • The $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ of anode material for the hybrid capacitor was coated using $CePO_4$, $M_3(PO_4)_2$ (M=Mg, Zn). The capacitance of phosphate coated $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was found to be lower than that of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$, whereas the equivalent series resistance was higher than that of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$. With an increase in cycle number, the base of cylindrical cell exhibited swelling due to gas generated from the reaction between $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ and electrolyte. The swelling cycle number of phosphate coated $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was higher than that of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ due to improvement in electrochemical stability. Based on the results, it is proposed that phosphate coating can be employed as a barrier layer to control the gassing reaction by isolating the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ particle from electrolyte solution.

Preparation and Characteristics of Li4Ti5O12 Anode Material for Hybrid Supercapacitor

  • Spinel-$Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was successfully synthesized by a solid-phase method at 800, 850, and $900^{\circ}C$ according to the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ cubic spinel phase structure. To achieve higher EDLC energy density with the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$, the negative electrode of the hybrid supercapacitor was studied in this work. The electrochemical performances of the hybrid supercapacitor and EDLC were characterized by constant current discharge curves, c-rate, and cycle performance testing. The capacitance (1st cycle) of the hybrid supercapacitor and EDLC was 209 and 109 F, respectively, which is higher than EDLC. The capacitance of the hybrid supercapacitor decreases from 209 F to 101 F after 20 cycles when discharged at several specific current densities ranging from 1 to 10 A. In contrast, capacitance of the EDLC hardly decreases after 20 cycles. Results show that hybrid supercapacitor benefits from the high rate capability of supercapacitor and high capacity of the battery. Findings also prove that the hybrid supercapacitor is an energy storage device where the supercapacitor and the Li ion secondary battery coexist in one cell system.

PRT 차량의 전력 공급시스템 개발 (A Development of the Electric Power Supply System for PRT Vehicle)

  • In this paper, the design of PRT vehicle power supply system is discussed. Since there is no power feeding line facilities in PRT system under development, the PRT vehicle must have its own energy storage device on board. For the energy storage device, ultra-capacitor bank is applied due to its fast charging capability and long life time. Charging the Ultra-capacitor bank is performed by wireless inductive power transfer system. The capacitor bank is charged up in less than 10 seconds when the vehicle is traveling by passenger stations. In this paper the design of the ultra-capacitor bank and the wireless inductive power transfer system for the PRT vehicle are discussed. Tests are conducted for the both system and the result shows the efficiency of the wireless inductive power transfer system is higher than 80%.

태양광 시스템에 적용한 배터리 커패시터의 전기적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electrical Characteristics of Battery Capacitor Applied to Photovoltaic Power System)

  • This paper describes the preparation and characteristics of a battery capacitor and module for solar power system. A cylindrical 30,000F battery capacitor ($60{\times}138mm$) was assembled by using the $LTO(Li_4Ti_5O_{12})$ electrode as an anode and $NMC(LiNiMnCoO_2)-LCO(LiCoO_2)$ as a cathode. The battery capacitor has reduced energy density and power density under high CC(constant current) and CP(constant power) conditions. Battery capacitor module (16V, 11Ah) was fabricated using an asymmetric hybrid capacitor with a capacitance of 30,000F. In order to determine the characteristics of the battery capacitor Module for solar power system, battery capacitor cells were connected in series with active balancing circuit. As a result of measuring the 100w LED lamp, it was discharged at the voltage of 15V~10V, and the compensation time at discharge was measured to be about 4979s. Experimental results show that it can be applied to applications related to solar power system by applying battery capacitor module.

  • 영상으로부터 중요 객체를 구하는 Saliency Map은 현재 영상처리 분야에서 가장 활발한 연구 분야이다. 이와 관련한 여러 연구가 진행되어가고 있으나 Saliency Map의 객체를 추출하는 것이 어려운 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 SLIC와 색상차, 영역간 거리, texture 정보를 이용하여 객체 추출하는 방법으로 Saliency Map을 개선하고자 한다. 실험결과는 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법을 통해 영상의 모든 영역이 아닌 중앙에 있는 영역을 중점으로 주요 객체를 추출하는 결과를 보였다.

철도 고속화에 따른 단계별 신호시스템 구축방안 연구 (A Study on Establishment of Signaling Systems to Speed up Conventional Railway)

  • Studies suggested an increase in the competitiveness and roles of mainline railways like speed and accessibility improvement, as a fundamental direction of the National Transport Network Plan. At this point, topics presented especially for strengthening the role of human and environment centered transportation: as to the greatly improved speed competitiveness, there are an operational speed above 180km/h ~ 200km/h and traveling within 2 ~ 3 hours among big cities. As to accessibility improvement, there are accessibility to main railway stations within 30 minutes, and the improvement of accessibility, safety, eco-friendliness, amenity etc. As a part of these suggestions, field specific plans were proposed for the establishment of expressed mainline railway network in Korea such as train's, civil structures, trolley lines etc. In this paper we analyzed the conventional lines and systems to figure out whether to change details in terms of H/W of signaling system. Additionally, we reviewed the compatibility or difference of signalling system depending on train's speed. With this result, we deduced the number of virtual blocks specific to the speed of 180km/h, 200km/h and 230km/h, which were showed for the speed improvement considering each variable like blocks, braking distance etc. In this way, we suggested the railway signal system establishment plan considering safety operation.

전력품질 안정화용 비대칭 하이브리드 슈퍼커패시터 셀 및 모듈 특성 (The Characteristics of Asymmetric Hybrid Supercapacitor Cells and Modules for Power Quality Stabilization)

  • In addition to the energy storage facilities based on high power technologies, Electric double layer capacitors(EDLC) are today's candidate for power quality stabilization. However, its low energy density is often inhibiting factor for application of electric power industry. Hybrid supercapacitor is an promising energy storage device that positioned between conventional EDLC and Li-ion battery. This paper describes the preparation and characteristics of a hybrid supercapacitor and module for power quality stabilization. A cylindrical 3200F hybrid supercapacitor ($60{\times}74.5mm$) was assembled by using the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ electrode as an anode and activated carbon as a cathode. It shows 2.5 times higher energy density than conventional EDLC with the same volume. In order to determine the characteristics of the hybrid supercapacitor Module for uninterruptible power supply (UPS), hybrid supercapacitor cells were connected in series with active balancing circuit. At even the high current density of 14A(10C), Module prepared by 18 cells showed the capacitance of 170F at 30~50V, suggesting the applicability for UPS.

  • The properties of green sheet were investigated in order to understanding an effects of organic solvent mixture ratio for solid oxide fuel cells fabrication. The purpose of this work is to optimize the slurry condition using the design of experiment to improve green sheet properties. The elongation increased with increasing amount of binder and solvent. With increasing amount of solvent, the air permeability increased but the tensile strength decreased. The best properties of the green sheet appeared amount of the binder 17 wt%, solvent 35 wt% and powder 48 wt%. The optimum condition of green and sintered density for solid oxide fuel cells fabrication was obtained in the sample pressured at 800 $kgf/cm^2$.

Sepsis Mortality in CIITA Deficient Mice is Associated with Excessive Release of High-mobility Group Box 1

  • Background: Down regulation of major histocompatibility complex class II transactivator (CIITA) has been identified as a major factor of immunosuppression in sepsis and the level of CIITA expression inversely correlates with the degree of severity. However, it has not been fully elucidated whether the lower expression of CIITA is a cause of disease process or a just associated sign. Here we determined whether the CIITA deficiency decreased survival rate using murine sepsis model. Methods: Major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) deficient, CIITA deficient and wild type B6 mice were subjected to cecal ligation puncture (CLP) surgery. CIITA and recombination activation gene (RAG)-1 double deficient mice were generated to test the role of lymphocytes in CIITA-associated sepsis progression. Results: Sepsis mortality was enhanced in CIITA deficient mice, not by impaired bacterial clearance resulted from CD4 T cell depletion, but hyper-inflammatory response such as excessive release of a pro-inflammatory cytokine, high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1). Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that CIITA deficiency affects the course of sepsis via the unexpected function of CIITA, regulation of cytokine release.

자기부상열차의 모델링방법에 따른 열차-교량의 동적상호작용 해석 (Dynamic Interaction Analysis of Train and Bridge According to Modeling Methods of Maglev Trains)

  • 본 연구에서는 속도의 변화 그리고 모델링방법이 자기부상열차의 주행성에 미치는 영향을 파악하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 2000:1의 처짐비를 가지는 동일한 교량 위를 속도를 변화시키면서(100km/h에서 700km/h까지 100km/h간격으로) 6가지 모델의 자기부상열차를 주행시키기 위하여 4자유도 6자유도 10자유도 차량에 대한 운동방정식을 구성하고 4계 룬지쿠타법을 적용하여 수치해석을 수행한다. 해석결과를 보면 속도가 낮을수록 보기 및 EMS의 개수가 많은 모델일 수록 자기부상열차의 주행성이 향상됨을 알 수 있다.
