GCV소재의 DLC 코팅 마모특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Wear Properties of GCV Materials with DLC Coating)

  • Although Graphite Compacted Vermicular (GCV) was first observed in 1948, the narrow range for stable foundry production precluded the high volume application of GCV to complex components such as cylinder blocks and heads until advanced process control technologies became available. This, in turn, had to await the advent of modern measurement electronics and computer processors. Following the development of foundry techniques and manufacturing solutions, primarily initiated in Europe during the 1990s, the first series production of GCV cylinder blocks began during 1999. Today, more than 40,000 GCV cylinder blocks are produced each month for OEMs, including Audi, DAF, Ford, Hundai, MAN, Mercedes, PSA, Volkswagen, and Volvo. Given that new engine programs are typically intended to support three to four vehicle generations, the chosen engine materials must satisfy current design criteria and also provide the potential for future performance upgrades without changing the overall block architecture. With at least a 75% increase in the ultimate tensile strength, a 40% increase in the elastic modulus, and approximately double the fatigue strength of either iron or aluminum, GCV is ideally suited to meet current and future of engine design and performance requirements.

소목의 부탄올 추출물에 의한 Melan-a 세포의 멜라닌생성 억제효과 (Inhibitory Effects of Butyl Alcohol Extract from Caesalpinia sappan L. on Melanogenesis in Melan-a Cells)

  • Melanogenesis is a physiological process resulting in the synthesis of melanin pigments, which play a crucial protective role against skin photocarcinogenesis. The heart wood of Caesalpinia sappan L.(C. sappan) has long been commonly used in Oriental folk medicines to promote blood circulation, and as an emmenagogue, analgesic or anti-inflammatory agent as well as a remedy for thrombosis. From the heartwood, many constituents have been purified and among them, brazilin and hematoxylin are two of the most abundant. This present study was designed to investigate the inhibitory effect of butanol extract from C. sappan on proliferation and melanogenesis in Melan-a cells. After 48 h treatment of these cells with various concentrations of butanol extract, the cells showed a dose-dependent inhibition in their proliferation without apoptotic cell death. Therefore, the growth retardation by the extract may be due to the cell arrest or cell differentiation. We also estimated total melanin content as a final product and activity of tyrosinase, a key enzyme, of melanogenesis in Melan-a cells. The melanin content and tyrosinase activity were deσeased in extract-treated cells in a dose dependent manner compared to control group. The butanol extract also resulted in a decrease of melanin content in ${\alpha}-melanocyte-stimulating$ hormone (MSH)-induced melanogenesis, indicating that butanol extract of C. sappan could be developed as skin whitening components of cosmetics.

Single-Electron Logic Cells and SET/FET Hybrid Integrated Circuits

  • Single-electron transistor (SET)-based logic cells and SET/FET hybrid integrated circuits have been fabricated on SOI chips. The input-output voltage transfer characteristic of the SET-based complementary logic cell shows an inverting behavior where the output voltage gain is estimated to be about 1.2 at 4.2K. The SET/FET output driver, consisting of one SET and three FETs, yields a high voltage gain of 13 and power amplification with a wide-range output window for driving next circuit. Finally, the SET/FET literal gate for a multi-valued logic cell, comprising of an SET, an FET and a constant-current load, displays a periodic voltage output of high/low level multiple switching with a swing as high as 200mV. The multiple switching functionality of all the fabricated logic circuits could be enhanced by utilizing a side gate incorporated to each SET component to enable the phase control of Coulomb oscillations, which is one of the unique characteristics of the SET-based logic circuits.

Research Trends for Performance, Safety, and Comfort Evaluation of Agricultural Tractors: A Review

  • Background: Significant technological development and changes happened in the tractor industries. Contrariwise, the test procedures of the major standard development organizations (SDO's) remained unchanged or with a little modification over the years, demanding new tractor test standards or improvement of existing ones for tractor performance, safety, and comfort. Purpose: This study focuses on reviewing the research trends regarding performance, safety and comfort evaluation of agricultural tractors. Based on this review, few recommendations were proposed to revise or improve the current test standards. Review: Tractor power take-off power test using the DC electric dynamometer reduced human error in the testing process and increased the accuracy of the test results. GPS signals were used to determine acceleration and converted into torque. High capacity double extended octagonal ring dynamometer has been designed to measure drawbar forces. Numerical optimization methodology has been used to design three-point hitch. Numerous technologies, driving strategies, and transmission characteristics are being considered for reducing emissions of gaseous and particulate pollutants. Engine emission control technology standards need to be revised to meet the exhaust regulations for agricultural tractors. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) program has been used to design Roll-Over Protective Structures (ROPS). Program and methodology has been presented for testing tractor brake systems. Whole-body vibration emission levels have been found to be very dependent upon the nature of field operation performed, and the test track techniques required development/adaptation to improve their suitability during standardized assessment. Emphasizes should be given to improve visibility and thermal environment inside the cab for tractor operator. Tractors need to be evaluated under electromagnetic compatibility test conditions due to large growing of electronic devices. Research trends reviewed in this paper can be considered for possible revision or improvement of tractor performance, safety, and comfort test standards.

전문가 델파이기법을 활용한 한국 산업보안 생태계 인식 조사연구 (A study on the perception of the Korean industrial security ecosystem using Delphi Method)

  • 산업기술 보안 이슈는 대내외적으로 급격한 변화를 겪고 있다. 미국 등 선진국은 글로벌 가치사슬 및 해외자본 이동과 갈등을 빚으면서도 자국의 핵심 기술 보호를 위한 대응전략을 수립하고 있으며, 국내 또한 중장기 산업경쟁력 속에서 산업안보이슈를 접근하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 산업보안 관련 이해관계자들을 대상으로 산업보안 생태계 정책인식 조사를 통해 주요 이슈를 도출하였다. 조사결과, 이해관계자 모두 산업보안의 중요성에 대해 인식하나 아직까지 국가전체 보안관리 역량은 낮다고 인식하고 있으며, 국가핵심기술은 국가에서 보다 책임을 지고 관리할 필요성이 있음을 제기하였다. 3라운드에 걸친 종합 델파이 조사를 기반으로 '산업보안 컨트롤타워 중심 시스템 체계화', '보안전문기업 기술력 강화 및 보안인력 양성', '인력 및 자본을 통한 기술유출 방지제도 개선', '연구개발 과정에서의 연구보안 및 선제적 기술보호 강화'를 정책개선 과제로 제시하였다. 본 연구가 산업보안 현장의 수요를 반영한 증거 기반 연구로서 관련 정책수립의 기초가 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

Control of Algal Blooms in Eutrophic Water Using Porous Dolomite Granules

  • The use of aluminum-based coagulants in water pretreatment is being carefully considered because aluminum exposure is a risk factor for the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Lightly burned-dolomite kiln dust (LB-DKD) was evaluated as an alternative coagulant because it contains high levels of the healthful minerals calcium and magnesium. An organic pore forming agent (OPFA) was incorporated to prepare porous granules after OPFA removal through a thermal decomposition process. A spray drying method was used to produce uniform and reproducible spherical granules with low density, since fine dolomite particles have irregular agglomeration behavior in the hydration reaction. The use of fine dolomite powder and different porosity granules led to a visible color change in raw algae (RA) containing water, from dark green to transparent colorlessness. Also, dolomite powders and granules exhibited a mean removal efficiency of 48.3% in total nitrogen (T-N), a gradual increase in the removal efficiency of total phosphorus (T-P) as granule porosity increased. We demonstrate that porous dolomite granules can improve the settling time and water quality in summer seasons for the emergent treatment of excessive algal blooms in eutrophic water.

액상환원공정을 이용한 황산코발트로부터의 코발트 나노분말 합성 (Synthesis of Nano Sized Cobalt Powder from Cobalt Sulfate Heptahydrate by Liquid Phase Reduction)

  • Nanostructured cobalt materials have recently attracted considerable attention due to their potential applications in high-density data storage, magnetic separation and heterogeneous catalysts. The size as well as the morphology at the nano scale strongly influences the physical and chemical properties of cobalt nano materials. In this study, cobalt nano particles synthesized by a a polyol process, which is a liquid-phase reduction method, were investigated. Cobalt hydroxide ($Co(OH)_2$), as an intermediate reaction product, was synthesized by the reaction between cobalt sulphate heptahydrate ($CoSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$) used as a precursor and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) dissolved in DI water. As-synthesized $Co(OH)_2$ was washed and filtered several times with DI water, because intermediate reaction products had not only $Co(OH)_2$ but also sodium sulphate ($Na_2SO_4$), as an impurity. Then the cobalt powder was synthesized by diethylene glycol (DEG), as a reduction agent, with various temperatures and times. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), as a capping agent, was also added to control agglomeration and dispersion of the cobalt nano particles. The optimized synthesis condition was achieved at $220^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours with 0.6 of the PVP/$Co(OH)_2$ molar ratio. Consequently, it was confirmed that the synthesized nano sized cobalt particles had a face centered cubic (fcc) structure and with a size range of 100-200 nm.

로켓추진을 이용한 고속 수중운동체의 수중 주행성능 측정 결과(II) (Measurement of Performance of High Speed Underwater Vehicle with Solid Rocket Motor(II))

  • 고체 로켓추진기관을 이용한 자연공동형 수중운동체를 수중주행 시험하였다. 수중운동체의 속도 및 주행거리를 측정하고, 수중운동체 표면에 설치한 압력센서로 초공동의 발달에 따른 표면 압력 변화를 조사하였고, 수중카메라로 수중운동체에 초공동이 발생하여 진행하는 과정을 기록하였으며, 이를 이차원 비점성 이론해석법에 근거한 CNU-SuperCT 프로그램을 사용하여 계산한 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교하였다. CNU-SuperCT 프로그램은 수중운동체의 조종면을 포함하지 않고 계산하는 것을 고려하면, 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정결과가 잘 맞는다고 판단되며, 수중촬영결과도 이와 동일한 결과를 보인다.

보안 인지 및 실천 현황 분석을 통한 대학 연구정보보안 수준 제고 방안 (Improving Research Information Security in Academic Institutes through the Analysis of Security Awareness and Activities)

  • 대학은 국가적으로 연구개발비 및 연구인력 측면에서 큰 비중을 차지하고 있는 핵심연구기관임에도 불구하고 연구정보보안에 대한 투자가 소홀하여 연구정보 유출이 우려되고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이와 관련, 본 논문에서는 연구정보 유출을 예방하기 위한 노력의 일환으로 대학 구성원의 보안 인지수준과 실천수준을 분석하고 대학내 연구정보보안 수준 제고를 위한 구체적 방안을 제시한다. 이를 위해 먼저 대학 구성원을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 결과를 분석하여 연구정보보안 및 보안의식에 관련된 현황을 파악한다. 이를 바탕으로 상관관계분석, 일원배치 분산분석, 다중회귀분석 등 통계분석을 실시하여 정보보안의식 및 보안실천수준, 전임교원 보안수준, 연구실 정보보안 관리절차와 같은 문제점들이 존재함을 보인다. 마지막으로 분석결과를 기반으로 교육 홍보를 통한 보안지식 및 의식 개선, 연구책임자 의무사항을 포함하는 연구실 보안관리 규정 제정, 정보유출방지 출입자 통제 솔루션 등의 보안수준 향상을 위한 대책들을 제시한다.

A Study on the Verification of Integrity of Message Structure in Naval Combat Management System

  • 함정 전투관리체계는 다양한 센서, 무장 장비들이 연동 노드를 통해 연결되며 체계내 노드간 효율적인 통신을 위해 DDS(Data Distribution Service) 통신을 활용한다. DDS를 사용하기 위해 체계내 응용소프트웨어 사이에는 DDS토픽을 기본으로 하는 PUB/SUB(Publication/Subscribe)방식으로 통신한다. 이 PUB/SUB방식으로 통신하는 DDS 메시지 구조가 일치하지 않으면 송수신 응용소프트웨어에서 잘못된 명령처리 및 정보전달 등 문제가 발생한다. 이를 개선하기 위해 본 논문에서는 해시트리를 활용한 DDS 메시지 구조 무결성 검증 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법의 전투관리체계에 적용가능성을 확인하기 위해, 제안하는 방법의 메시지 구조 무결성 검증률을 측정하고 전투관리체계의 운용과 개발과정에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 전투관리체계 초기화 시간 비교, 메시지 해시트리의 생성시간 측정을 하였다. 이 시험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안하는 체계 안정성을 위한 메시지 구조 검증 방법이 함정 전투관리체계에 적용 가능함을 확인하였다.
