  • 준-정적 선형 2차원 열점탄성 문제들의 유한요소해석을 위하여 가상일의 원리를 근거로 하여 새로운 변분공식과 유한요소방정식을 유도한다. 이때 점탄성 재료는 열유동학적으로 단순한 물성을 갖는다. T=T(x)일 경우에 유전적 강성행렬들의 효율적이고 단순화된 계산과정을 소개한다. 몇몇 예제를 해석하고 기존의 발표된 수치결과들과 비교 검토하여 정확성 및 경제성을 입증한다.

  • This paper presents the theoretical analysis method to determine the stress concentrations around the circular cutouts with various geometrical parameters. The purposes of this study are to investigate on the stress distribution around the circular cutouts due to interaction between two circular cutouts and to develop the design method in composite plates. The composite laminated plate with 2 equal collinear circular cutouts under inplane loads is treated as an quasi-isotropic, symmetric, finite, square, multiply connected and thin plate. The effects of cutout sizes, distances between two circular cutouts and inplane load conditions on stress distribution are studied in detail.

  • For a large scale civil and architectural structures, mainly steel, concrete and aluminum have been used and weight and corrosion of materials became a major concern. Designing with composite materials is very much complicated. Simple classical theory may yield good results for selecting "initial" sections for preliminary design. D. H. Kim proposed to use the quasi-isotropic constants by Tsai for the preliminary design of the composite primary structures for the civil construction. Also he made simple equation using correction factor. In this paper, the simple formulas developed by D. H. Kim to obtain "exact" values of the natural frequencies of [ABBCAAB]r laminate are compared with Whitney's equations. Also natural frequencies of the plate with varying aspect ratios and reinforcing fiber orientations, are compared with natural frequencies of bean. This work can be a guideline to obtain data in many other cases.

  • Almost all buildings/infrastructures made of composite materials are fabricated without proper design. Unlike airplane or automobile parts, prototype test is impossible. One cannot destroy 10 story buildings or 100-meter long bridges. People try to build 100-story buildings or several thousand meter long bridges. In order to realize "composites in construction", the following subjects must be studied in detail, for his design: Concept optimization, Simple method of analysis, Folded plate theory, Size effects in failure, and Critical frequency. Unlike the design procedure with conventional materials, his design should include material design, selection of manufacturing methods, and quality control methods, in addition to the fabrication method.on method.

  • A stress distribution of composite laminates patches is obtained by using the Kantorovich method when the substrate is under uniaxial load. The analysis is based on the stress function approach and uses the complementary virtual work principle. The three-dimensional stresses satisfy the traction free conditions at the free edges and the top surfaces of the patch. The stress of the bottom surfaces of the patch is obtained from equilibrium equation of patch and substrate. To demonstrate the efficiency and validity of the proposed analysis, numerical examples for cross-ply and quasi-isotropic laminates are included. The present method provides accurate stresses in the interior and near the free edges of composite laminate patches.

  • The purpose of present paper is to estimate the static and fatigue bending strengths of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic) laminates having impact damage(FOD). The specimens which are formed with the different stacking composition, EPOXY and PEEK matirx and orthotropic and quasi-isotropic laminated plates, are prepared for this experiment. A steel ball is impacted on CFRP laminates, generating impact damages, and the three-point fatigue bending test is carried out by using the impacted laminates to investigate the influence of the stackin composition on the fatigue strength of CFRP laminates.

  • The B value on the saturated soil is commonly known as the amount of 1. Usually this concept is consistent with the condition that effective stress is equal to zero, but it was reported in some literatures that the B value was less than 1 in spite of saturated condition in the test of very stiff material such as rock and quasi-stiff material on which the stiffness can be mobilized because of effective stress not equal to zero. In this study the B value was measured on various effective stress conditions on normally consolidated clay. The test results in the B value less than 1 in spite of perfect saturation. The measured excessive pore water pressure was not only smaller than the change of the total stress, but also the function of time on clay.

  • This method surely needs a hole that causes local strength and stiffness deterioration of the structure because of stress intensity. In this work, three dimensional stress analysis of pin-loaded joint for quasi-isotropic composite laminates was performed using commercial finite element software. Stress distribution was calculated near the edge of the pin-leaded hole and effects of the stacking sequence on the delamination were investigated. Also, the delamination strength of the composite laminates was predicted using the Ye-delamination failure criterion and compared with the experimental results. finally, newly modified failure criterion has been suggested owing to the consideration of effects of interlaminar normal stress on the delamination strength.

  • For the bolted joint of the composite structure, quasi-isotropic stacking is generally used to increase the bearing strength. For the bolted joint of uni-directional composite, the fatigue life limit of the bolted joint can be improved by applying clamping force though the static strength is still very low. In this paper, the static and fatigue characteristics of hybrid joint are investigated which can overcome the disadvantage of the bolted joint of uni-directional composite under static loading by applying adhesive joining. The experimental result shows that the static strength and fatigue life can be improved by applying clamping force to the hybrid joint and the hybrid joint is a good solution for the efficiency of the composite structures.

  • Impact tester was build up to evaluate the characterization of CFRP laminate plates under the low velocity impact. The tests were conducted on several laminates of different ply orientation A system was budded for the impact strength of CFRP laminates in consideration of stress wave propagation theory using drop-weight impact tester as one of impact test. Results indicate that absorbed energy of quasi-isotropic specimen having four interfaces is higher than that of orthotropic laminates with two interfaces. Also the damage area was measured with ultrasonic C-scanner on some samples. In the specimens the relationship was linear between damaged area and absorbed energy to some degree. Absorbed energy in the specimen that ply number, interface number and fiber stacking sequences is same but having hybrid is higher than that of orthotropic laminates without hybrid.
