This study investigated the effects of overtime work on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of Korean blue-collar workers. This cross-sectional study collected data on 229 Korean blue-collar workers in six small-sized companies from October to November 2015. The data were analyzed using hierarchical multiple regression analysis to estimate the effect of overtime work while considering convergence variables. In the hierarchical regression model, when overtime work variable was included in the model, $R^2$ change was statistically significant. The significant predictors for HRQoL were overtime work (${\beta}=.152$, p=.025), depression (${\beta}=-.192$, p=.003) and night shift work (${\beta}=-.201$, p=.032). The results of this study provide a basic data for establishing optimal working hours standards for improving the quality of life of Korean blue-collar workers.

Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive, cross-sectional study was to identify the factors affecting health-related quality of life by examining the relationships among posttraumatic stress, health-related work limitations, and family support in firefighters. Methods: The data were collected from 390 firefighters working in four fire stations located in the G district using self-report questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA along with the $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, and multiple regression. Results: As per the results of multiple regression analysis, the factors affecting health-related quality of life in firefighters were posttraumatic stress, health-related work limitations, and family support. This model explained 31% of the variance in health-related quality of life (F=30.03, p<.001). Conclusion: Considering the findings of this study, there is a need to reduce posttraumatic stress and health-related work limitations and develop family support toward firefighters.
Purpose: This study was to investigate the factors influencing on the quality of life (QOL) among herniation of nucleus pulposus (HNP) patients caused by occupational accidents. Method: 203 patients of HNP were recruited. 106 patients were occupationally injured workers who benefited from workmen's compensation scheme (PWCS group), and 43 patients were non-occupationally injured workers benefiting from national health insurance (PNHI group). Questions of QOL items were used by Korean version of SBQOL (SmithKlein Beecham's Qality of Life). Result: The quality of life of PWCS group measured by SBQOL was significantly lower than that of PNHI group. In PWCS group, SBQOL was significantly lower in patients with 40s of their age, 5 years or longer of treatment duration, no expectation of return to work, no expectation of recovering subject's health, and with loss of employment than rest of the patients in each category. Expectations of recovering subject's health showed to be affect factors on QOL both the PWCS and PNHI groups. Conclusion: It suggested that betterment of expectation of recovering patient's health and an administrative system for returning to work of the occupationally injured HNP patients during treatment be necessary for improvement of their quality of life.
Purpose: This study was carried out in order to examine the relationship of job satisfaction and quality of life on the dental technicians and to analyze its influence. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire survey was carried out by having convenience sampling as 220 dental technicians who work in Seoul Metropolis, Gyeonggi-do Province, Daejeon and Chungnam Province from March 12, 2012 to April 13. A research tool was used questionnaire that was proved reliability and validity. It was prepared with totally 50 questions such as 12 items for subjects' general characteristics, 18 items for job satisfaction measurement, and 20 items for life quality measurement. An analysis of the collected data was computationally processed by using SPSS Win 17.0 program. An analytical technique was made by using statistical techniques such as frequency & percentage, T-test or One-way ANOVA analysis. The following are the analytical results of the collected materials. Results: As a result of analyzing research subjects' job satisfaction level, there was significant difference(P<0.05) in items of religion, hobby life, working environment, and rest time out of daily work. The whole mean in job satisfaction was indicated to be relatively high with 3.13. However, job satisfaction with social recognition, salary, and safety was indicated lowly. As a result of analyzing research subjects' life quality level, there was significant difference(P<0.05) in items of religion, hobby life, working environment, and rest time out of daily work. The whole mean in quality of life was indicated to be relatively high with 3.10. However, the satisfaction was indicated lowly in the whole life quality and the life environment sphere. As a result of analyzing correlation between job satisfaction and life quality, all variables were indicated to be positive correlation in high significance level, thereby having been indicated that the higher job satisfaction leads to the higher life quality. Conclusion: As a result of research, the dental technicians' job satisfaction was indicated to have high correlation with quality of life. An effort is judged to be necessary for establishing fair compensation system, improving welfare policy and enhancing social recognition and position in order to promote dental technicians' quality of life.
Leisure time is a critical part of modern life and is increasingly important in modern society. Therefore, analyzing expectations and values of leisure and researching leisure practices are integral in measuring the quality of life. In this respect, differences between values and attitudes leading to the ideal leisure life and the actual leisure life could provoke negative influence on our lives, further, decreasing quality of life. Therefore, classifying leisure lifestyle through analyzing value of lifestyle and the actual state of leisure precisely is very necessary. Leisure lifestyle could be very useful standard satisfying various desires and demands related to leisure. In the research, we surveyed 3,000 people over 10 years of age, one on one interview method, asking value of life behaviors (Individualism vs. Collectivism, Pro-Stability vs. Pro-Change, Statistical way of life vs. Active way of life, Family-centered life vs. Work-centered life) and practices of leisure life (With whom, How frequently, Where, For what) in respect to both value and behaviors. Through this survey, five groups of leisure life type have been identified; "Community-oriented Type", "Cocoon Type", "Family-oriented Type", "Personal-stability Type" and "Multiplicity Type". These leisure lifestyles would provide effectual alternatives for reducing gaps between expectations for ideal leisure life and actual life. Furthermore, this could be used for ground work to develop measurements for satisfying various leisure demands.
This study was carried out in an attempt to establish a preliminary scale for measuring $\boxDr$Quality of Life$\boxUl$ of Korean farm households, Data from randomly selected 318 farm households through our the country were analysis. The main results of this study were summarized as follows; 1) The objective levels of living conditions were relatively low in dietary life, healthy & sanitation, and financial stability and were relatively high in family relationship, household work and housing environment. 2) The subjective satisfaction level was lowest in leisure and were relatively high in family relationship and health & sanitation. 3) A comparison of objective level of living conditions and subjective satisfaction level suggested th score of the latter were higher than the former in dietary life and health & sanitation. In the contrary to this, the scores of the former were higher than the latter in housing environment, household work, child education, leisure and family relationship. In particular, the score of the subjective satisfaction level were much higher in housing environment and household work.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the subjective level of health-related quality of life of Korean healthcare workers using various quality-of-life instruments. Methods: This study included 992 participants, who were doctors and nurses. A survey was conducted between November 28 and December 4, 2019. Data from 954 participants divided into 3 groups (physicians, residents, and nurses) were analyzed. Four measurement tools (29 questions) were used in the survey to evaluate subjective health status and well-being. Results: In the Mayo Well-being Index, burnout during work (88.5%) and emotional difficulties caused by work (84.0%) were frequently cited by the respondents. Regarding questions on burnout and emotional difficulties, residents and nurses had the highest scores (91.0 and 89.6%, respectively). Emotional problems, such as anxiety, depression, and irritability, accounted for a high percentage (73.1%) of the total, while 82.2% of respondents reported that their work schedules interfered with their leisure and family time. There was no significant difference among the groups in subjective health status. However, 10.1% of the residents experienced very low quality of life, which was a higher proportion than that of physicians (2.7%) and nurses (5.2%). Conclusions: The level of well-being that Korean medical workers experienced in relation to work was lower than the results of the United States healthcare workers surveyed using the same tool. This study was unique in that it conducted a subjective quality-of-life survey on Korean healthcare workers.

It has been widely-reported that the quality of life in Korea is lower than that of the economic growth. In particular, construction managers are reported to have a lower quality of life compared to people in other job types due to the specific nature of the tasks they have to carry out. These include early work attendance time and fewer holidays. In this respect, the aim of this study is to analyse construction managers' requirements on work-life balance. The results showed that the working hours of construction managers were long and their leisure hours were shorter. The requirements for work-life balance were in the order of non-working time, working time, salary, and job security. The requirements by group showed a statistically significant difference in work hours. The requirements on the shortening of work hours were highest in the group of "section chiefs and deputy heads" and lowest in the group of "department heads" and up. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used as basic data for future government-level policy making and construction companies' business directions in relation to the improvement of workers' work-life balance.
Background: Employee job satisfaction and its relationship with health and quality of life has been an issue of major concern over the past decades. Nurses experience difficult working conditions that affect their job satisfaction, health, and quality of life. Methods: A cross-sectional study was undertaken in three general hospitals and their respective health centers. Stratified random sampling by level of education was used, and 508 nurses and nursing assistants were included. A self-administered anonymous questionnaire, which included the Measure of Job Satisfaction, the 36-item Short Form Health Survey, as well as demographic details, education, and work conditions data, was used. Results: Greek nurses were found to be dissatisfied with their job according to the total score of the job satisfaction scale, although personal satisfaction and satisfaction with support had had higher scores. Their general health was reported as average, because of physical and mental health problems, low vitality, low energy, and increased physical pain. Multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that males and those wishing to stay in the job had higher physical and mental health. Increased job satisfaction was related to increased physical and mental health. Conclusion: Although Greek nurses are not satisfied with their work, those with high levels of job satisfaction had better health-related quality of life. The findings suggest that improvement of the work environment would contribute to a healthier and more satisfied nursing workforce.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among the work satisfaction and quality of life with retirement preparation of middle-aged workers. Data from 283 subjects were collected and analyzed. The findings are as follows. First, people with higher quality of life tend to care more on health planning. Second, financial planning has nothing to do with quality of life, whereas self-respect has a positive effect on all the other indicators for retirement preparations except financial planning. Third, retirement preparations has not been affected by work satisfaction. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings were discussed and the directions for future research were suggested.
