  • IT security service provides customers with the capability of protecting the networked information asset and infrastructures, and the scope of security service is expanding from a technology-intensive task to a comprehensive protection system for IT environment. To improve the quality of this service, a research model which help assess the quality is required. Several research models have been proposed and used in various service areas, but few cases are found for IT security service. In this work, a research model for the IT security quality has been proposed, based on research models such as SERVQUAL and E-S-QUAL. With the proposed model, factors which affect the service quality and the best quality measure have been identified. And the feasibility of using quantitative measures for quality has been examined. For analysis, structural equation modeling and various statistical methods such as principal component analysis were used. The result shows that satisfaction is the most significant measure affected by the proposed quality factors. Two quality factors, fulfillment and empathy, are the main determinants of the service quality. This leads to a strategy of quality improvement based on factors of emotion and perception, not of technology. The quantitative measures are considered as promising alternative measures, when combined with other measures. In order to design reliable quantitative measures, more work should be done on target processing time and users' expectation. It is hoped that work of this research will provide efficient tools and methods to improve the quality of IT security service and help future research works for other IT service areas.

  • A diversity of wireless networks, with rapidly evolving wireless technology, are currently in service. Due to their innate physical layer vulnerability, wireless networks require enhanced security components. WLAN, WiBro, and UMTS have defined proper security components that meet standard security requirements. Extensive research has been conducted to enhance the security of individual wireless platforms, and we now have meaningful results at hand. However, with the advent of ubiquitous service, new horizontal platform service models with vertical crosslayer security are expected to be proposed. Research on synchronized security service and interoperability in a heterogeneous environment must be conducted. In heterogeneous environments, to design the balanced security components, quantitative evaluation model of security policy in wireless networks is required. To design appropriate evaluation method of security policies in heterogeneous wireless networks, we formalize the security properties in wireless networks. As the benefit of security protocols is indicated by the quality of protection (QoP), we improve the QoP model and evaluate hybrid security policy in heterogeneous wireless networks by applying to the QoP model. Deriving relative indicators from the positive impact of security points, and using these indicators to quantify a total reward function, this paper will help to assure the appropriate benchmark for combined security components in wireless networks.

  • This study identified the cause-and-effect relationship of security management service quality by empirically analyzing whether the performance factors affecting the casino industry are improved when the quality of the security management service is improved. For this, Partial Least Squares (PLS) that can deduce the structural relationship between variables was used. To verify the representativeness of the population, SPSS 19.0 was utilized in a demographic analysis, a independent T-test and Scheffe test. The analysis of the data revealed that the casino industry must preferentially manage assurance, empathy, and security to improve the casino security management service quality, and that, of these, security was the most important factor. To help improve service quality, a theoretical and empirical basis that can consider the importance and priority of individual factors was presented based on the result of this analysis. It also revealed that the security management service is an essential factor for stable business activities of casinos. Further, the importance of the role of the security management service in business strategy formulation for improving the industry performance was recognized through the study results. A service quality improvement method was provided by focusing on the factors that must be preferentially considered for service quality improvement; moreover, implications that can predict the results of such method were presented.
