  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational performance with readiness to change and empower knowledge sharing quality as mediating variables. The survey was conducted by collecting the respondents' data by filling up forms which were designed using the google form application and collecting it using WhatsApp. This was performed on 400 respondents, encompassing employees from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control in Indonesia. The research model adopted was validated using Structural Equation Modeling technique with AMOS tool. The findings showed transformational leadership as a significant predictor of readiness to change and it proved relevant in empowering knowledge sharing quality, which in turn affects organizational performance. Furthermore, the effects of both two mediating variables was also examined, and only readiness to change significantly influenced the relationship between predictors of transformational leadership and organizational performance. The findings of this study showed the need for transformational leaders as the research focused on understanding the differences in employee character. This is required to encourage better performance by empowering quality knowledge dissemination mechanisms, with continuous in-house training activities. Therefore, the model adopted in this research and the hypotheses prove the direct effect of transformational leadership on organizational performance, achievable through the mediating role of readiness to change.

Text-Confidence Feature Based Quality Evaluation Model for Knowledge Q&A Documents (텍스트 신뢰도 자질 기반 지식 질의응답 문서 품질 평가 모델)

  • In Knowledge Q&A services where information is created by unspecified users, document quality is an important factor of user satisfaction with search results. Previous work on quality prediction of Knowledge Q&A documents evaluate the quality of documents by using non-textual information, such as click counts and recommendation counts, and focus on enhancing retrieval performance by incorporating the quality measure into retrieval model. Although the non-textual information used in previous work was proven to be useful by experiments, data sparseness problem may occur when predicting the quality of newly created documents with such information. To solve data sparseness problem of non-textual features, this paper proposes new features for document quality prediction, namely text-confidence features, which indicate how trustworthy the content of a document is. The proposed features, extracted directly from the document content, are stable against data sparseness problem, compared to non-textual features that indirectly require participation of service users in order to be collected. Experiments conducted on real world Knowledge Q&A documents suggests that text-confidence features show performance comparable to the non-textual features. We believe the proposed features can be utilized as effective features for document quality prediction and improve the performance of Knowledge Q&A services in the future.

The Effects of a Urinary Incontinence Management Program for Middle Aged Women in a Rural Area (농촌 중년여성의 요실금 프로그램 효과)

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of a urinary incontinence management program for middle aged women living in a rural area. Method: The research design was a one-group pretest-posttest design. Forty eight women with urinary incontinence aged 40-64, who lived in a rural area were included in the study. The urinary incontinence management program was composed of urinary incontinence education, pelvic floor muscle exercise, behavior management using a voiding diary. The program had three weekly sessions. Knowledge about urinary incontinence, physical symptoms, self-efficacy, and urinary incontinence related quality of life were measured before and after the program. Results: After carrying the urinary incontinence management program, knowledge score improved significantly compared to before the program ($6.31{\pm}3.30$ vs $7.77{\pm}2.55$, p=.01). But the score for self-efficacy, and urinary incontinence related quality of life did not improve. Conclusion: The 3 week urinary incontinence program had an effect on knowledge related to urinary incontinence, but not self efficacy nor urinary incontinence related quality of life. Thus further study is required to better evaluate the effects of the urinary incontinence program.

The Effects of 'Cancer Overcome Program' Using Strategy for Promoting Self-Efficacy among Family Caregivers with Lung Cancer in Korea (자기효능증진 전략을 이용한 암극복 프로그램의 효과 II -폐암가족을 중심으로-)

  • Purpose: This study investigated the effect of a structured group intervention on knowledge about lung cancer, self efficacy and quality of life for family caregivers of patients with lung cancer using a nonequivalent control groupquasi-experimental design. Methods: Subjects were 11 family caregivers for both the control and the experimental group. The experimental group participated in once a week for 2-hour session for 4 weeks. Four topics of educational program were lung cancer and treatment, side effects of treatments, symptoms management, and health management. Every session consisted of lecture, sharing experiences, and meditating time. Quality of life was measured using Jang(1996)'s tool. The tools for knowledge and self-efficacy were developed by the authors. Results: After the intervention, the experimental group showed higher self-efficacy in caring for the patients than did the controls. However, there were no significant differences in knowledge about lung cancer and quality of life between the two groups. Conclusion: Findings indicate that the group intervention would be effective for family caregivers of lung cancer patients.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Hallyu(Korean Wave) and marketing mix elements on brand equity based on the Korean cosmetic brand in China Market. It will provide the constructive suggestions to build Korea brand equity in overseas market through empirical research. At the beginning of this study, in order to analyze the effect of Hallyu and marketing mix elements on brand equity, we studied literature reviews on relationships between brand equity and marketing mix elements, culture, Hallyu and its influences on marketing. And then, we set up the research model, hypotheses and variables. The chosen variables to investigate are price premium, price deals, store image, distribution intensity, advertising, Hallyu, perceived quality, brand loyalty, brand awareness/associations, and brand equity. The results of the study reveal that Hallyu and advertising had a positive influence on perceived quality, brand loyalty and brand awareness/associations, but the other marketing elements had partial influence. All of perceived quality, brand loyalty and brand awareness/associations showed positive effects on brand equity. Additionally, theoretical and managerial implications of brand equity and Hallyu based on the results of this study are discussed. And limitations and future research issues are also presented.

The Effects of Programs Using Strategies for Promoting Self Efficacy in Patients with Lung Cancer (폐암극복을 위한 자기효능 증진 프로그램의 효과)

  • Purpose: This study investigated the effects of a 'overcoming cancer program' on knowledge, self efficacy, and quality of life, therapeutic compliance for patients with lung cancer. Method: Research design of this study was a nonequivalent control group quasi-experimental study. Subjects for this study were 16 lung cancer patients for the control group, and 12 lung cancer patients for the experimental group. The experimental group participated in the program once a week for 4 weeks. Data were collected before and after the program. Nonparametric statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: The results of this study were as follows: In the pretest, there were no significant differences in general characteristics, knowledge, self efficacy and quality of life between the two groups. In the posttest, there were significant differences in knowledge, self efficacy between the experimental and the control groups. But there were no significant differences in therapeutic compliance and quality of life between the two groups. Conclusion: From the results above, it can be concluded that program was effective to improve knowledge and self-efficacy for patients with lung cancer.

The Effect of Types of Knowledge and Cognitive Styles on Summarizing and Understanding Text (지식유형과 인지양식이 글 요약과 이해에 미치는 영향)

  • An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of three types of prior knowledge (domain related knowledge, summary-writing strategy knowledge, and neutral unrelated knowledge) and two types (analytic and wholistic) of cognitive styles on the quality of the summary writing of a descriptive text. The results showed that learning domain-related knowledge and summary-writing-strategy knowledge increased the level of understanding of the target text and the quality of the summary; the former operating mainly at the understanding phase, and the latter operating mainly during the summary planning and producing phases. The effect of the types of cognitive style was found somewhat limited but mainly operating In the process of planing the summary. Other features of time course in writing a summary were further discussed.

  • Purpose: This empirical study is focused on the relationship between innovation capability (R&D and Human Resource innovation) and performance in knowledge-based service firms. Methods: We build research model to test how each of innovation capability on technology and human resource is influenced on their financial and non-financial performance in the knowledge-based service industries. Based on the previous research, we hypothesized the factors are regarded innovation capabilities of the firms as the scale of R&D and human resources. Because this study is especially targeted to the performance of knowledge-based service firms. With the survey on 424 main knowledge-based service firms, the multi-regression analysis was performed. Results: The result showed that the scale of R&D and human resources capabilities are main factors for knowledge-based service firms' performance, which reflects the current industrial structure. Conclusion: This study empirically demonstrated that human resources are most important to the growth of knowledge-based service firms.

A Comparative Study on Blog based KMS and Non-Blog based KMS (블로그형 KMS와 비(非)블로그형 KMS 비교연구)

  • As Knowledge Management (KM) has taken an essential position of managing businesses in the knowledge-oriented society, many companies have adopted Knowledge Management System (KMS) into their organization. Many have questioned, however, in the result and the effectiveness in KMS. The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve the current KMS by analyzing and identifying the causes that affect effectiveness of KMS. Blog which is an effective tool for communication could be used for KMS in order to make KMS more user friendly and more effective. This research is intended to conduct an empirical study on the differences between Blog-based KMS and Non-Blog-based KMS and suggest resolutions to potential issues of KMS. Blog-based KMS users show higher degree of satisfaction and usage toward their system. The result of this study suggests that the differences between two groups are primarily on system quality and knowledge quality, and many of these differences come from functions and characteristics of Blog.
