Development of Cable Lug Joint Using Electromagnetic Force (전자기력을 이용한 케이블 러그 조인트 개발)

  • Recently, there has been a trend in the manufacturing process to focus on the durability of cable lug joint, especially in welding process due to the poor cable lug joint causes many troubles on products and workers during manufacturing process. Therefore development of high quality cable lug joint is important for successful manufacturing process and safety of worker. The Magnetic Pulse Forming(MPF) is one of efficient way to developed a high quality cable lug joint. In MPF, a high strain rate forming process, utilizes a high velocity oblique collision on the workpiece to be formed in required shape. The objective of this paper is to develop of high quality cable lug joint using electromagnetic force. To successfully accomplish this goal, section and electrical contact temperature of developed cable lug joint has been compared with various cable lug joint. Electrical contact temperature of developed cable lug joint by electromagnetic force is lower than manufactured cable lug joint by pressurer and hydraulic pressurer.

Improving Process Capability by 2-Way Classification (2원배치법(元配置法)을 이용한 공정능력(工程能力)의 향상(向上))

  • This paper aims at analyzing the process capability and at determining an optimal condition by experimental designs using the 2-way classification with repitition in order to maintain lower Nacl content and to refine both of a very small quantity of fatty acid and various magnetic ions in the glycerin to use ion exchange resin treatment process. An optimal condition of each level combination in both of passing temperature of cation exchange resin($A_1$, $A_2$, $A_3$) and of anion exchange resin($B_1$, $B_2$, $B_3$) is $A_3B_3$. The process capability index is improved from 0.63 to 1.40 and is interpreted as a desirable state. This analysis of process capability by experimental designs will contribute to improving productivity and quality of products.

Bootstrapping Some Process Capability Indices (공정능력지수에 대한 붓스트랩과 모의실험연구)

  • Process capability indices are used to determine whether a production process is capable of producing items within a specified tolerance. We could estimate the finite sample distributions of some process capability indices with bootstrap method. In this paper, we derive the asymptotic bootstrap distributions of some process capability indices ${\hat{C}}^*_p$, ${\hat{C}}^*_{pk}$ and ${\hat{C}}^*_{pm}$ under general proper conditions. These asymptotic distributiops would be used in constructing some bootstrap confidence intervals. Also, we examine some small sample properties related to these estimators by some simulations.

The Effect of 'Process' Factor and 'Infra' Factor in Quality Management on Manufacturing Capabilities and Performance (품질경영 추진방식의 Infra 요인과 Process 요인이 생산경쟁력과 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • We categorize quality management practices as two factors ; 'infra factor' and 'process factor.' We confirm the factors' statistical significance with empirical investigation about 167 manufacturing companies in nationwide. Moreover, we find the two factors affect positively on the manufacturing capabilities of differentiation and reliability, and on the performances as improving products and process. We prove these results with empirical method of structural equation model and AMOS program.

  • Cusum control chart is used for the purpose of controling the process mean. We consider the problem related to cusum chart for controling process variance. Previous researches have considered the same problem. The main difficulty shown in the related researches was to derive the ARL function which characterizes the properties of the chart. Sample variance, differently with sample mean, follows chi-squared type distribution, even when the quality characteristics are assumed to be normally distributed. The ARL function of cusum is described by a type of integral equation. Since the solution of the integral equation for non-normal distribution is not known well, people used simulation method instead of solving the integral equation directly, or approximation method by taking logarithm of the sample variance. Recently a new method to solve the integral equation for Erlang distribution was published. Here we consider the steps to apply the solution to the problem of controling process variance.

  • In liquid crystal displays, the display mode that represents initial liquid crystal alignment and method of applying voltage, mainly determines the image quality of display. Recently we have developed the fringe-field switching (FFS) mode exhibiting high image quality. In this paper, a pixel concept, manufacturing process, materials, and electro-optic characteristics of the FFS mode comparing with conventional in-plane switching mode, and its possible application to reflective type are discussed.

  • Micro-machining technology has been adopted for shape accuracy of micrometer and sub-micrometer scale, surface roughness of tens nanometer in industries. In micro-machining process the quality of machined surface is derived from machining condition and tooling. This paper investigates AE(acoustic emission) and cutting force signals according to machined surface quality related to machining condition. Machined surface quality was analyzed by the AE and cutting force parameter which reflect surface morphology. The characteristics of signal were extracted for process optimization by monitoring both the tool condition and the machined surface texture in micro end milling process.

  • Purpose: In this study, we suggest the systematic and comprehensive model to develop PI(Performance Indicators) of the organization or the process. Methods: The model is developed theoretically by using SIPOC(Supplier, Input, Process, Output, Customer) approach which is a tool to analyze the process and is compared with existing models to develop PI or KPI(key performance indicators); financial indicators, BSC, IPOO(input, process, output, outcome), traditional QCD (quality, cost, delivery), and IOS(input, output system). Results: The model provides more systematic method to develop PI and more comprehensive set of PI pools for all kinds of hierarchical levels of process than any other models to develop PI or KPI. Conclusion: This model will provide useful tools for the managers and the organizations who wish to develop PI.

Reduction Technology of Bad Quality of Strip Cutting Face in the Side Trimming Process of the Cold Rolling (냉간압연 사이드트리밍공정에서의 스트립 절단면 품질불량 감소기술 개발)

  • It is very important to diagnose state of knife and strip cutting face in real time in the side trimming process due to improvement of quality of trimming face. In this study, diagnosis system for knife and strip cutting face was developed. CCD camera was installed at the both side of strip in the entry of burr masher roll. This system offer to operator the diagnosis result that was analyzed image obtained from CCD camera. As a result, bad quality of trimming face is decreased below 1/10 and knife breakage is detected $100\%$.

  • Rotary swaging is a process for reducing the cross-sectional area or changing the shape of bar, tube or wires by repeated radial blows with one or more parirs of opposed dies. The present study is concerned with investigation the effect of process parameters upon product quality(hardness, roughness, precision of dimension). To enhance the product quality, experimental works are carried out for some process parameters such as forming speed, billet shape, lubrication, reduction of area and ratio of t/D. Rod shift formed by RSM25 under cold conditions has good surface quality, hardness and precision of dimension. The recommendable process conditions are suggested for solid and tubular products.
