Business Intelligence and Marketing Insights in an Era of Big Data: The Q-sorting Approach

  • The purpose of this study is to qualitatively identify the typologies and characteristics of the big data marketing strategy in major companies that are taking advantage of the big data business in Korea. Big data means piles accumulated from converging platforms such as computing infrastructures, smart devices, social networking and new media, and big data is also an analytic technique itself. Numerous enterprises have grown conscious that big data can be a most significant resource or capability since the issue of big data recently surfaced abruptly in Korea. Companies will be obliged to design their own implementing plans for big data marketing and to customize their own analytic skills in the new era of big data, which will fundamentally transform how businesses operate and how they engage with customers, suppliers, partners and employees. This research employed a Q-study, which is a methodology, model, and theory used in 'subjectivity' research to interpret professional panels' perceptions or opinions through in-depth interviews. This method includes a series of q-sorting analysis processes, proposing 40 stimuli statements (q-sample) compressed out of about 60 (q-population) and explaining the big data marketing model derived from in-depth interviews with 20 marketing managers who belong to major companies(q-sorters). As a result, this study makes fundamental contributions to proposing new findings and insights for small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) and policy makers that need guidelines or direction for future big data business.

  • 본 연구에서는, 해석적 모델로 불규칙하게 분포된 질량을 가진 열탄성 댐핑을 포함하는 마이크로빔 구조물을 연구하였다. 마이크로 스케일의 기계적 공명체(mechanical resonator)에 대한 열탄성 댐핑의 중요성은 높은 Q-factor를 설계하는데 고려된다. 본 연구에서의 빔 모델은 Euler-Bernoulli 빔 이론을 기조로 한다. 빔의 고유 진동수를 결정하기 위하여, 에너지 기법이 적용되었다. 또한, 열탄성 댐핑 효과는 열전도 방정식을 사용할으로써 고려되었고, Q-factor가 결정될 수 있었다. 운동방정식의 유도에는 체계적인 무차원화를 수행하였다. 임의의 집중된 질량을 포함하는 열탄성 댐핑을 가진 마이크로빔에 대해 모델의 결과값을 입증하였고 mode shape과 Q-factor를 제시하였다.

Detection of phenobarbital adulteration in dietary supplements: simultaneous analysis of 16 sedative-hypnotics and sleep-inducers by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection (UPLC-UV) and quadruple Orbitrap mass spectrometry (Q-Orbitrap-MS)

  • The safety of food is occasionally questionable, as there have been some reports of products contaminated with illegal adulterants. In this study, the presence of 16 sedative-hypnotics and sleep inducers in dietary supplements was determined by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection (UPLC-UV) and quadruple Orbitrap mass spectrometry (Q-Orbitrap-MS). The UPLC method was validated, providing a linearity (R2) of more than 0.999, and LODs and LOQs that ranged from 0.2 to 0.5 and 0.6 to $1.5{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$, respectively. The repeatabilities were 0.2-8.4 % (intra-day) and 0.3-4.5 % (inter-day), and the accuracies were 89.0-117.0 % (intra-day) and 87.8-111.9 % (inter-day). The mean recoveries of the spiked samples ranged from 98.7 to 107.3 %. The relative standard deviation (%RSD) of the stability was less than 2.4 %. Using the developed method, one sedative-hypnotic compound, phenobarbital, was detected in one of the nineteen samples tested. In addition, the major characteristic fragment ions of each target compound were confirmed using Q-Orbitrap-MS for higher accuracy. Monitoring the presence of these 16 sedative-hypnotics and sleep inducers in dietary supplements should be pursued in the interest of human health, and the results of this study confirmed that the developed method has value for this application.

영상 잡음 제거를 위한 주성분 분석 기반 비 지역적 평균 알고리즘의 효율적인 공분산 행렬 계산 방법 (An Efficient Method to Compute a Covariance Matrix of the Non-local Means Algorithm for Image Denoising with the Principal Component Analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상에 존재하는 잡음 (noise) 들을 제거하는 방법 중 하나인 비 지역적 평균 (non-local means, NLM) 알고리즘을 먼저 소개하고 비 지역적 평균 알고리즘의 개선된 방법 중 하나인 주성분 분석 (principal component analysis, PCA) 기반의 알고리즘에 대해서도 소개한다. 주성분 분석을 활용하기 위해서는 선행적으로 공분산 행렬 (covariance matrix)을 구해야 하는데, 영상의 모든 픽셀들을 대상으로 하였을 때 이 공분산 행렬을 구하기 위해서는 큰 크기를 가지는 행렬 곱 연산이 필요하다. 만약 비 지역적 평균 알고리즘의 영상 패치 (neighborhood patch) 의 크기를 S × S = S2, 영상 전체의 픽셀 수를 Q라고 한다면 공분산 행렬을 구하기 위해서는 S2 × Q 크기의 행렬 곱 연산이 필요하게 된다. 이는 영상의 특성을 고려하면 비효율적인 연산이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 공분산 행렬을 효율적으로 구하기 위해, 영상 패치들간의 일정 간격을 유지하면서 샘플링을 하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 최종적으로, 샘플링 후에는 S2 × floor (Width/l) × (Height/l) 크기를 가진 행렬의 곱 연산으로 공분산 행렬을 구할 수 있다.

자연림 군집형 분류에 의한 교란의 정도와 임분 발달 사이의 관련성 검토 (The Evaluation of Correlation between Disturbance Intensity and Stand Development by Natural Forest Community Type Classification)

  • The correlation between disturbance intensity and stand development was evaluated on the basis of natural forest community type classification in areas of Baekhaksan (more disturbed area) and Hwangaksan (less disturbed area). The vegetation data were collected by point-centered quarter sampling method, and they were subjected to cluster analysis for classifying community types and to analysis of species composition and species diversity for reviewing ecological characteristics. By the method of cluster analysis, natural forests of Baekhaksan were classified into Quercus forest community, Pinus densiflora community, Q. variabilis community, and Q. mongolica community. Those of Hwangaksan were divided into P. densiflora community, Q. mongolica community, Q. forest community, and Mixed mesophytic community. It is presumed that more developed and less disturbed forest area shows multiple species community pattern and more diversified structure than less developed and more disturbed forest area. In Korean peninsula, the abundance of red pine may play an important indicator to estimate the developmental pattern of the forest after artificial disturbance. The overall evaluation indicated that less disturbed Hwangaksan area had more developed stand pattern with mixed mesophytic community, more complicated species composition, and higher species diversity than Baekhaksan area.

택시 운전자의 교통사고 야기 성향 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study about The Taxi Driver's Car Accident Characteristics)

  • 사업용 자동차 교통사고 특성 분석(도로교통안전관리공단, 2007)에 따르면, 사업용 차량의 1만대 당 교통사고 발생률과 사망률이 비사업용 차량에 비해 각각 6.7배와 5.3배 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 최근 10년 동안 전체 교통사고는 연평균 1.5% 감소한데 비하여, 사업용 차량의 교통사고는 연평균 2.0%씩 증가하는 추세를 보이고 있다. 최근 10년 동안 사업용 차량 중 버스와 화물트럭의 교통사고 발생건수는 꾸준히 감소하였다. 그러나 택시의 교통사고 발생건수만은 연평균 5.6%씩 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 이와 같은 상황에서 심리성격 분석 기법인 Q분석을 통하여, 택시 운전자의 운전 성향별 특성을 파악하고, 운전 성향별 교통사고 저감대책을 마련하고자 하였다.

  • 임펄스 잡음에 강인한 2차 회전변환 기법을 적용한 QPSK 시스템에서 최대우도 복호기의 비트오율 성능을 정확하게 분석하였다. 이 분석 방법은 보로노이 셀에서 2차원 가우시안 Q-함수의 리만 적분을 응용한 것이다. 일반적인 2차 회전변환 기법에 대하여 보로노이 셀의 다양한 특징을 기하학적 방법으로 분석하여 정리하였다. 이러한 분석 결과를 이용하여 비트오율을 최소화하는 회전변환 파라미터를 도출하였으며, 기존의 근사적인 성능 해석 방법과의 차이도 고찰하였다.

  • This paper presents the d-q axis inductances calculations method of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) by using Finite Element(FE) analysis. The inductances of d-q axis in IPMSM, which is the function of current magnitude and phase angle are computed by energy dual method. The appropriateness of the proposed FE analysis has been verified by comparing with experimental results.

Optimization of 1D 1H Quantitative NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Conditions for Polar Metabolites in Meat

  • The objective of this study was to establish an optimized 1D $^1H$ quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (qNMR) analytical method for analyzing polar metabolites in meat. Three extraction solutions [0.6 M perchloric acid, 10 mM phosphate buffer, water/methanol (1:1)], three reconstitution buffers [20 mM 3-morpholinopropane-1-sulfonic acid, 2-[4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazin-1-yl]ethanesulfonic acid, phosphate buffer], and two pulse programs (zg30, noesypr1d) were evaluated. Extraction with 0.6 M perchloric acid and 20 mM phosphate resulted in a stable baseline and no additional overlap for quantifying polar metabolites in chicken breast. In qNMR analysis, zg30 pulse program (without water-suppression) showed smaller relative standard deviation (RSD) and faster running time than noesypr1d (water-suppression). High-performance liquid chromatography was compared with qNMR analyses to validate accuracy. The zg30 pulse program showed good accuracy and lower RSD. The optimized qNMR method was able to apply for beef and pork samples. Thus, an optimized 1D $^1H$ qNMR method for meat metabolomics was established.

Detection of HER2 Status in Breast Cancer: Comparison of Current Methods with MLPA and Real-time RT-PCR

  • Human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER) status is an important prognostic factor in breast cancer. There is no globally accepted method for determining its status, and which method is most precise is still a matter of debate. We here analyzed HER2 mRNA expression by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (qRT-PCR) and HER2 DNA amplification using multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA). In parallel, we performed a routine evaluation of HER2 protein by immunohistochemistry (IHC). To assess the accuracy of the RT-PCR and MLPA techniques, a combination of IHC and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was used, substituting FISH when the results of IHC were ambiguous (2+) and for those IHC results that disagreed with MLPA and qRT-PCR, this approach being termed IHC-FISH. The IHC results for four samples were not compatible with the MLPA and qRT-PCR results; the MLPA and qRT-PCR results for these samples were confirmed by FISH. The correlations between IHC-FISH and qRT-PCR or MLPA were 0.945 and 0.973, respectively. The ASCO/CAP guideline IHC/FISH correlation with MLPA was (0.827) and with RT-PCR was (0.854). The correlations between the IHC results (0, 1+ as negative, and 3+ as positive) and qRT-PCR and MLPA techniques were 0.743 and 0.831, respectively. Given the shortcomings of IHC analysis and greater correlations between MLPA, qRT-PCR, and FISH methods than IHC analysis alone with each of these three methods, we propose that MLPA and real-time PCR are good alternatives to IHC. However a suitable cut-off point for qRTPCR is a prerequisite for determining the exact status of HER2.
