Simulation of superconducting cavities for quantum computing

  • With an increasing potential to realize quantum computer, it has recently been an important issue to extend the capabilities of RF cavities to maintain longer coherent quantum system. Using superconductors instead of normal metals allows the quantum system to have a substantially enhanced quality factor. In this paper, surface impedances of superconducting cavities are calculated by the Mattis-Bardeen theory with Python & MATLAB programs. With a simulation of electromagnetic field distribution, the sensitivity to dielectric and surface losses of the superconducting cavities are determined. Then calculations of the resonance frequency and quality factor of three-dimensional superconducting resonators made of Al or Nb are discussed.

Identification of Xanthium Sibiricum Components using LC-SPE-NMR-MS Hyphenated System

  • Xanthium sibiricum is used as a traditional folk medicine for the treatment of cancer, fever, headache, nasal sinusitis, and skin pruritus. This study aimed to identify components from Xanthium sibiricum extracts using an SPE-800MHz NMR-MS hyphenated system. The simultaneous acquisition of MS and NMR spectra from the same chromatographic peaks significantly increases the depth of information acquired for the compound and allows the elucidation of structures that would not be possible using MS or NMR data alone. LC -NMR analysis was conducted using a HPLC separation system coupled to 800 MHz spectrometer equipped with a cryoprobe, and a SPE unit was used to automatically trap chromatographic peaks using a HPLC pump. LC-MS analysis was conducted with a Q-TOF MS instrument using ESI ionization in the negative ion mode. Using the hyphenated analysis, several secondary metabolites were identified, such as 3',5'-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid, 1',5'-O-dicaffeoyl- quinic acid, and ethyl caffeate. These results demonstrate that the SPE-800MHz NMR-MS hyphenated system can be used to identify metabolites within natural products that have complex mixtures.

집중 소자를 이용한 이중 대역 GSM/DCS용 적층형 다이플렉서의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of Multilayer Diplexer for Dual Band GSM/DCS Applications using Lumped Elements)

  • 본 논문에서는 고품질 적층형 수동 소자의 모델링 및 설계에 관하여 연구하였고, 설계된 수동 소자를 이용하여 안테나 스위치 모듈 내에 포함된 이중 대역 GSM/DCS 대역 분리용 적층형 다이플렉서를 설계$.$제작하여 그 특성을 고찰하였다. 적층형 수동 소자는 시스템의 소형화를 위해 인덕터는 정방형 스파이럴 구조로, 캐패시터는 입체적인 인터디지털 형태인 VIC 구조로 설계하였다. GSM 저역 통과 필터는 0.55 dB 이하의 삽입 손실과 12dB 이상의 반사 손실을 나타내며, 통과 대역 위쪽 저지 대역인 1800 MHz 부근에 감쇠극이 존재하도록 설계함으로써 DCS 통과 대역에서 26 dB 이상의 저지 특성을 나타내었다. DCS 고역 통과 필터는 0.82 dB 이하의 삽입 손실과 11 dB 이상의 반사손실을 가지며, 통과 대역 아래 쪽 저지 대역인 930 MHz 부근에 감쇠극이 존재하도록 설계함으로써 GSM 통과 대역에서 38 dB 이상의 저지 특성을 나타내었다.

Development of rotational pulse-echo ultrasonic propagation imaging system capable of inspecting cylindrical specimens

  • A rotational pulse-echo ultrasonic propagation imager that can inspect cylindrical specimens for material nondestructive evaluations is proposed herein. In this system, a laser-generated ultrasonic bulk wave is used for inspection, which enables a clear visualization of subsurface defects with a precise reproduction of the damage shape and size. The ultrasonic waves are generated by a Q-switched laser that impinges on the outer surface of the specimen walls. The generated waves travel through the walls and their echo is detected by a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) at the same point. To obtain the optimal Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of the measured signal, the LDV requires the sensed surface to be at a right angle to the laser beam and at a predefined constant standoff distance from the laser head. For flat specimens, these constraints can be easily satisfied by performing a raster scan using a dual-axis linear stage. However, this arrangement cannot be used for cylindrical specimens owing to their curved nature. To inspect the cylindrical specimens, a circular scan technology is newly proposed for pulse-echo laser ultrasound. A rotational stage is coupled with a single-axis linear stage to inspect the desired area of the specimen. This system arrangement ensures that the standoff distance and beam incidence angle are maintained while the cylindrical specimen is being inspected. This enables the inspection of a curved specimen while maintaining the optimal SNR. The measurement result is displayed in parallel with the on-going inspection. The inspection data used in scanning are mapped from rotational coordinates to linear coordinates for visualization and post-processing of results. A graphical user interface software is implemented in C++ using a QT framework and controls all the individual blocks of the system and implements the necessary image processing, scan calculations, data acquisition, signal processing and result visualization.

  • 4차 산업혁명 시대의 도래와 함께 IT기술은 기존의 다양한 산업과 분야에 융합되어 기존에 없던 새로운 서비스들을 만들어내고 있다. 특히 인공지능 분야의 챗봇과 최신 기술은 자연어처리 기술의 발전과 함께 그 성능이 비약적으로 발전하여 다양한 업무처리를 챗봇을 통해 처리하고 있다. 본 연구는 슬롯필링(Slot Filling) 기반의 챗봇 기술을 통해서 법률 질의에 대한 구조적인 폼(Structual Form)을 만들고 정해진 형태의 질문을 입력하여 사용자가 찾고자 하는 질문에 근접한 답변을 제공하는 시스템에 대한 연구이다. 제안 시스템을 이용하여 텍스트 형태의 비정형 데이터인 법률 정보를 보다 구조화된 형태로 질의응답 데이터를 구축할 수 있다. 또 축적된 질의응답 데이터를 하이브(Apache Hive)와 같은 빅데이터 저장 시스템을 통해 관리하여 학습에 데이터를 재활용하는 것으로 응답의 신뢰성을 지속적 향상을 기대할 수 있다.

미 군사규격을 적용한 권취 코어 자동공급장치의 진동해석 (Vibration Analysis of Film Winding Core Automatic Supply System Using US Military Standards)

  • By applying METHOD 514.8 of the US military standard MIL-STD-810H, vibration analysis of the winding core automatic feeding device was performed during vehicle transportation. The contact point between the LM guide and main support frame was weak in the vertical axis, transverse axis, and longitudinal axis during the transportation of the automatic winding core feeder vehicle, and the maximum equivalent stress was 236.31 MPa in the longitudinal axis. When random vibration was applied, the safety margin in the longitudinal direction was 0.26, indicating low safety. The safety margin was changed by increasing the damage factor to 0.1. Finally, the safety margin was improved to 3.48 to secure safety. Resonance occurred with a Q factor of 9.34 in the harmonic response to which the RMS value of the ASD data was input, and the vertical axis safety margin was derived as 0.16. When the damping factor was 0.15, the Q factor was 3.37, and resonance was avoided with a safety margin of 6.62.

  • Buchmann and Williams[1] proposed a key exchange system making use of the properties of the maximal order of an imaginary quadratic field. $H{\ddot{u}}hnlein$ et al. [6,7] also introduced a cryptosystem with trapdoor decryption in the class group of the non-maximal imaginary quadratic order with prime conductor q. Their common techniques are based on the properties of the invertible ideals of the maximal or non-maximal orders respectively. Kim and Moon [8], however, proposed a key-exchange system and a public-key encryption scheme, based on the class semigroups of imaginary quadratic non-maximal orders. In Kim and Moon[8]'s cryptosystem, a non-invertible ideal is chosen as a generator of key-exchange ststem and their secret key is some characteristic value of the ideal on the basis of Zanardo et al.[9]'s quantity for ideal equivalence. In this paper we propose the methods for finding the non-invertible ideals corresponding to non-primitive quadratic forms and clarify the structure of the class semigroup of non-maximal order as finitely disjoint union of groups with some quantities correctly. And then we correct the misconceptions of Zanardo et al.[9] and analyze Kim and Moon[8]'s cryptosystem.

  • At q = 1.81 ± 0.20 × 10-5, KMT-2018-BLG-0029Lb has the lowest planet-host mass ratio q of any microlensing planet to date by more than a factor of two. Hence, it is the first planet that probes below the apparent "pile-up" at q = 5-10 ×10-5. The event was observed by Spitzer, yielding a microlens-parallax πE measurement. Combined with a measurement of the Einstein radius θE from finite-source effects during the caustic crossings, these measurements imply masses of the host Mhost = 1.14+0.10-0.12 M and planet Mplanet = 7.59+0.75-0.69 M, system distance DL = 3.38+0.22-0.26 kpc and projected separation a = 4.27+0.21-0.23 AU. The blended light, which is substantially brighter than the microlensed source, is plausibly due to the lens and could be observed at high resolution immediately.

IGBT PWM Rectifier의 각상 개별제어 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Algorithm for Single Phase Control of IGBT PWM Rectifier)

  • 최근 UPS의 효율을 높이기 위하여 무변압기형 UPS의 사용이 증가되고 있다. 하지만 무변압기형 UPS는 입 출력 구조상 문제로 인해 3상4선식의 IGBT PWM 정류기가 필요하며 이는 기존의 3상3선식 PWM 정류기의 PFC 제어기법으로는 중성선 전류 문제로 동작이 되지 않으므로 3상4선식 PWM 정류기의 특성에 맞는 적절한 PWM 제어기법이 요구되고 있다. 3상4선식 IGBT PWM 정류기의 제어를 위한 제어기법으로는 각상 개별제어 기법과 3D SVM 기법이 있지만 두 방식 모두 장단점이 존재한다. 각상 개별제어 기법은 제어가 불안정하고 3D SVM 기법은 입력 측 인덕터의 L값이 상당히 커져야하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 각상 개별제어 방식과 d-q 제어 알고리즘을 접목시켜 동기좌표계상에서 직류로 제어하는 3상4선식 IGBT PWM 정류기 제어기법을 제안하였다. 또한 본 논문에서 제안한 3상4선식 IGBT의 PWM 정류기 제어 알고리즘을 바탕으로 시뮬레이션과 실험을 수행 하였다. 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과, 3상4선식 IGBT PWM 정류기를 안정적으로 제어하고 중성선 전류를 줄일 수 있어, 본 논문에서 제안한 방식의 유효성을 확인하였다.

Climate Analysis Seoul (CAS)를 이용한 서울 도심 녹지 주변의 열 환경 분석 (Analysis of the Thermal Environment around an Urban Green Area in Seoul, Korea Using Climate Analysis Seoul (CAS))

  • Climate Analysis Seoul (CAS) which provides gridded data relevant for thermal assessment was applied to one of the urban green areas, the Seonjeongneung, in Seoul, Korea. The thermal environment in the Seonjeongneung was evaluated from the CAS simulation for the five heat-wave issued cases during the last five years (2011~2015). The CAS has been improved continuously since it was developed. An updated version with a higher resolution of the CAS simulation domain and an addition of the vegetation information was used in this study. The influence of vegetation in the Seonjeongneung is estimated through the amount of the cold air generation ($Q_{ca}$) and air temperature deviation at each grid points, which are calculated by incorporating Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis on the simulation domain and meteorological analysis with the METeorology and atmospheric PHOtochemistry mesoscale MODel (MetPhoMod) in the CAS. The average amount of the cold air generation ($Q_{ca}$) at the Seonjeongneung is about $25.5m^3m^{-2}h^{-1}$ for the whole cases, and this value is similar to the ones in a forest or a well-wooded region. The average value of the total air temperature deviation (TD) is $-2.54^{\circ}C$ at the Seonjeongneung for the five cases. However, this cooling effect of the urban green area disappeared when the region is replaced by high-rise buildings in the CAS simulation. The $Q_{ca}$ drastically decreases to about $1.1m^3m^{-2}h^{-1}$ and the average TD shows an increase of $1.14^{\circ}C$ for the same events. This result shows that the vegetation in the Seonjeongneung supposes to keep down temperature during the heat-wave issued day and the average cooling effect of the green region is $3.68^{\circ}C$ quantitatively from the TD difference of the two simulations. The cooling effect represented with the TD difference is larger than $0.3^{\circ}C$ within 200 m distance from the boundary of the Seonjeongneung. Further improvements of the thermodynamical and advection processes above the model surface are required to consider more accurate assessment of the cooling effect for the urban green area.
