Parental Perception and Satisfaction with Environment-Friendly Agricultural Products Used for School Foodservice in Elementary Schools in Daejeon (학교급식에 이용되는 친환경 농산물에 대한 학부모의 인식 및 만족도에 관한 조사 -대전지역초등학교를 중심으로-)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the perception and understanding parents had regarding environment friendly agricultural products being used for school foodservice. A trained practitioner surveyed 221 parents of children at elementary schools in Daejeon using a questionnaire, after which the resulting data were analyzed by a Chi-square test. Overall, the parent's responses regarding the foodservice were positive. However, most of the parents do not participate (65%) in the school foodservice if they work, and those that do participate primarily work as meal service aides (58.1%). Parents indicated that the work of urgent field of inspection on food materials (69.9%), and the reason of an agreement (98.2%) for them were the students' health (68.4%). In addition, most parents were positive about the possibility of replacing foods used in the school with environment friendly products (51.6%) and felt that the government should pay the additional expense associated with their replacement. Furthermore, the majority of the parent's surveyed felt that children should be supplied with vegetables (54.9%) purchased directly from farms. The parents' satisfaction with the meal service (25.1%) was lower than that of the students (54.1%). The reason for the satisfaction reported by the parents was concern regarding the health of their children (53.3%). In addition, the majority of the parents (47.3%) responded that environment friendly agricultural products differ from general agricultural products because insecticides and fertilizer were not used. The main objection parents had to using environment friendly products was their cost (59.1%), and most parents felt that a realistic solution to this problem was unified purchase (41.4%). Besides, a problem when replacing with them was the expensive price (38.1%) and true or false (37.7%), and the students' satisfaction (59.5%) was selected the most in an effect of using them, diversity of the product (39.1%) and price reduction (32.6%) for a solution of the increase of using them.

A study on Snack Purchasing Behavior, Understanding of Food and Nutrition Labeling of Middle School Students in Naju Area (중학생의 간식구매행동, 식품과 영양표시의 이해도 - 나주지역 일부학생들을 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate perception of snack purchasing behaviors and labeling of foods and nutrition of the middle school students. The survey was conducted from 424 students who are boys and girls of middle school in Naju. Data were analyzed by a SPSS program. According to the survey, snack purchase place had a significant difference between gender(p<.05), and all of the boys and girls responded at a high rate that it's convenience store. Snack eating frequency had a significant difference between boys and girls(p<.05). Boys responded that they ate 1~2 times per a week the most, and girls responded that they ate 1~2 times per a month the most. As for snack purchasing behaviors, depending on gender, that of boys was 2.76 in average and that of girls was 2.87, lower than middle. The reason why students didn't check up food labeling, depending on gender and all of the boys and girls responded 'Expiration date' was first confirmed. As for the understanding of food expression, depending on snack expenses, the reason why food expression contents were hard showed a significant difference, depending on snack expenses(p<.05). As for the understanding of food expression, depending on snack purchase attitude, the students showed a significant difference, depending on snack purchase attitude(p<.001), and the lower the snack purchase attitude was, the less the students checked up snack expression. The reason why students checked up nutrition labeling a significant difference, depending on gender, snack expense and snack purchase attitude(p<.001). 'Weight management' was the highest. The recognition in the necessity of nutrition expression(p<.001) and the necessity of food/ nutrition education and publicity(p<.01) showed significant difference.

The Effect of Deal-Proneness in the Searching Pattern on the Purchase Probability of Customer in Online Travel Services (소비자 키워드광고 탐색패턴에 나타난 촉진지향성이 온라인 여행상품 구매확률에 미치는 영향)

  • The recent keyword advertising does not reflect the individual customer searching pattern because it is focused on each keyword at the aggregate level. The purpose of this research is to observe processes of customer searching patterns. To be specific, individual deal-proneness is mainly concerned. This study incorporates location as a control variable. This paper examines the relationship between customers' searching patterns and probability of purchase. A customer searching session, which is the collection of sequence of keyword queries, is utilized as the unit of analysis. The degree of deal-proneness is measured using customer behavior which is revealed by customer searching keywords in the session. Deal-proneness measuring function calculates the discount of deal prone keyword leverage in accordance with customer searching order. Location searching specificity function is also calculated by the same logic. The analyzed data is narrowed down to the customer query session which has more than two keyword queries. The number of the data is 218,305 by session, which is derived from Internet advertising agency's (COMAS) advertisement managing data and the travel business advertisement revenue data from advertiser's. As a research result, there are three types of the deal-prone customer. At first, there is an unconditional active deal-proneness customer. It is the customer who has lower deal-proneness which means that he/she utilizes deal-prone keywords in the last phase. He/she starts searching a keyword like general ones and then finally purchased appropriate products by utilizing deal-prone keywords in the last time. Those two types of customers have the similar rates of purchase. However, the last type of the customer has middle deal-proneness; who utilizes deal-prone keywords in the middle of the process. This type of a customer closely gets into the information by employing deal-prone keywords but he/she could not find out appropriate alternative then would modify other keywords to look for other alternatives. That is the reason why the purchase probability in this case would be decreased Also, this research confirmed that there is a loyalty effect using location searching specificity. The customer who has higher trip loyalty for specificity location responds to selected promotion rather than general promotion. So, this customer has a lower probability to purchase.

  • This research suggests improvement strategies for the problems of 'public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' by understanding the situation of supply to lowest income class in Seoul where there are many demands. Due to the heavy housing expenditure burden, in spite of the fact that the needs for affordable housings are increasing, the number of 'public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' which has been supplied to Seoul by LH & SH has decreased since 2009. It is caused by the low standard purchasing price set by government especially Seoul. Since 'the public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' is targeted for indigenous inhabitants, different supply stocks among different regions cause equity problem. Generally regions with low income class are in short supply, on the contrary the supply is especially concentrated specific regions in outskirts of Seoul. The main reason of such new supply stagnation and regional concentration is the low standard purchasing price. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the government's standard price according to the actual transaction price. Also it is needed to associate actual transaction price's increasing rate with the government's standard price. The housing supply based on demands must be established. In addition, the provision of 'public housing supplied through the purchase of existing house' should be expanded to low-middle income inhabitants and low income youth in the regions where the supply of the affordable housing excess demands.

  • Bakery nutrition labeling has been implemented in the company, but most consumers have no idea about it due to lack of promotion of the product nutrition labeling information or do not have a big interest in it. As a result, various studies based on the forecast about changes in consumption patterns of the bakery market due to nutrition labeling information are needed. Especially nowadays, when buying bakery products the involvement of consumers in health and nutrition is growing. So, we need to understand that nutrition labeling information makes any causal relationship between consumer attitude and confidence, purchasing behavior in bakery products. It can be said to be a very important research. For that reason, I think this research will help to settle and activate the nutrition labeling information system for the rational purchasing decisions of consumers in the bakery market. In addition, this research could be a base material for various marketing strategies.

  • The present state of possesion of durable consumer's goods in on family in Korean is could be similar with that of about 25 years ago in Japan. Korea meet a period of high rate of economic growth, Japan had already experienced this 25 years ago. It would be important to predict and plan the storage space in the planning house since purchase of durable consummers' goods increase greatly as the rapid economic growth. In order to grasp the dweller's way of thinking and an attitude of living in small size house in Japan, questionaire owe prepared focusing on the "small space", possession of excess living goods and dweller's state of living. From the analysis of the answers for questionaire, the result is as follows. (1) Most of dweller's conclude that the reason of the disorder in their house is that their house in too small, so that they think the part of thier living goods must be disposed. This concept is also available even when they buy new living goods. (2) Disposal of living goods not in use, restraint of buying those are considered inevitable. In addition, changing of place of furnitures is also introduced. (3) The dweller living under 50m2 area dosen's not consider the disorder the house by the living goods. they have interest in how the tradition could be kept their home.

A Study of the Street-food Purchasing Behavior of Culinary Major and Non-major University Students in the Daejeon Area (대전지역 조리 전공과 비전공 대학생의 거리 음식 구매 실태에 관한 연구)

  • The principal objective of this study was to determine the street-food needs of culinary major and non-major university students. University students in Daejeon were assessed by surveys conducted between November 20, 2007 and November 25, 2007. The results of the surveys were as follows; 1. The reason for street-food usage: mainly snacks(37.4%). 2. Primary factor considered when choosing street-food: taste of the food(48.52%). 3. The frequency of street-food purchase: 2 times/month(52.4%) 4. The mean cost for the one-time purchase of street-food: $1,000{\sim}2,000$ won(62.4%). The Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) used for obtaining information from the culinary major and non-major university students suggested that the attributes of street-food with fair to poor performance but high importance were as follows: sanitary quality in chicken skewers, soondae, ddeokbokki and fried foods and price and nutrition for hamburgers.

The Opinion about 'Hanllyu' and the Domestic Apparel Product Buying Behavior of Foreigners Residing in Seoul (국내 거주 외국인의 한류(韓流)에 대한 견해와 국내 의류 제품 구매 행동)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the foreigner's opinion about 'Hanllyu', and their buying behavior of clothes carried in Korean domestic market. The study was implemented through a normative-descriptive survey using self-administered questionnaires. The samples consisted of 75 foreigners residing in Korea. Data were analyzed by following statistical methods: frequency analysis, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's multiple range test. Results are as follows: There was no difference in the opinion about 'Hanllyu' between Chinese and Japanese. They regarded 'Hanllyu' as the phenomenon of the wave of Korean popular culture. Korean soap operas and movies were the main information sources on 'Hanllyu' stars for them. Significant differences were found in the behavior toward 'Hanllyu' stars according to sex and country, but there was no difference in the behavior according to their age. They mainly buy clothes in Dongdaemoon market and the main motivation of purchase were good design and price. The reason for dis-purchase was poor design. Respondents thought 'Hanllyu' fashion is gorgeous. There was significant difference in the behavior toward Korean culture according to sex.

Housewives' Behavior of Purchasing Special Eggs and Cooking Patterns of Eggs in Kyunggi-do and Inchon

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the purchase of special and cooking patterns of eggs. This survey was carried out through questionnaire and the subjects were 435 housewives whose children were middle or high school students in Kyunggi-do and Inchon. The results are summarized as follows : 1) As for age, 66.4% of subjects were 40 years or older. Also 57.1% of subjects received a high school education. As for occuption, full-time housewives accounted for 60.5%. Monthly family income of 39.1 % was 1-2 million won. As for monthly cost of food, 51.7% of subjects paid less than 500 thousand won. Also 40.2% of subjects lived in apartments. 2)Most housewives knew about the sale of special eggs. However, they perceived that the price of special eggs was expensive. 3) The higher their age, education level. household income and food cost, were, the more frequent their purchase of special eggs was. 4) The reason for their purchasing special eggs was in order of nutrition and freshness. 5) Most housewives didn't trust the brands of special eggs. 6) The most popular method of cooking eggs was fried-eggs. Consumer acceptance of edible insect foods: an application of the extended theory of planned behavior

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to measure consumer acceptance of edible insect foods (EIFs) while applying the extended theory of planned behavior (ETPB). Insects as food have attracted interest as potential possible sources of nutrition for the future. This study investigated consumers' perception toward insect food and future purchase behaviors. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A survey was conducted among citizens of Korea. About two thirds of respondents had tried an EIF previously, and the mean value for food neophobia was 3.1 on a 5-point Likert scale. Respondents were divided into 2 groups of those experienced with EIFs and those not and by level of food neophobia. An independent t-test, multiple regression and descriptive analyses were conducted on the data. RESULTS: The primary reason for not eating EIFs was that their insect form induced disgust. Comparisons of ETPB attributes by experience with EIFs showed significant differences between groups for food neophobia, subjective norm, attitude, and behavioral intention. In addition, significant differences were found for subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, attitude, and behavioral intention between 2 neophobia groups. Finally, the results of measuring the relationships between ETPB attributes and behavioral intention showed only subjective norm and attitude affected behavioral intention. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that enhanced subjective norms producing a publicly accepted EIFs environment would help encourage the purchase of EIFs. The results of this study can help the development of EIF products for future food markets.
