Factor Analysis of Word-of-Mouth Information Acceptance about International Tourism Service through Social Media (소셜 미디어를 통한 국제관광 서비스 구전정보의 수용요인에 대한 실증분석)

  • The development of web 2.0 technologies created the popularization of social media. People use social media for information communication with many purposes. Under such an environment, this paper examines the acceptance of word-of-mouth information dissemination through social media. The determinants of acceptance and the effect of acceptance on purchase intention as the result of information on social media pertaining to overseas tourism are researched in detail. The consumer choice for international travel involves a decision making with high uncertainty and thus people are using the word of mouth information strongly. Empirical analysis using SPSS, AMOS analysis software was performed on sample data consisting of 385 collected surveys. This paper shows the neutrality of eWOM, the professionalism of senders, and that the practicability of eWOM significantly affects the acceptance of the information. In addition, the acceptance of eWOM information has a significant effect on the spread of eWOM and customers' purchase intention. The paper shows that the practicability of information and the professionalism of word-of-mouth information should be improved.

The Determinants of Purchasing Private Health Insurance in Korean Cancer Patients (암 환자의 민간의료보험 가입 실태와 관련 요인)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to identify factors determining the purchase of private health insurance under the mandatory National Health Insurance(NHI) system in Korea. Methods : The data were collected by the National Cancer Center in Korea. It includes cancer patients who were newly diagnosed with stomach (ICD code, C16), lung(C33-C34), liver (C22), colorectal cancer(C18-C20) or breast(C50) cancer. Data were gathered from the hospital Order Communication System (OCS), medical records, and face-to-face interviews, using a structured questionnaire. Clinical, socio-demographic and private health insurance related factors were also gathered. Results : Overall, 43.9% of patients had purchased one or more private health insurance schemes related to cancer, with an average monthly premium of \65,311 and an average benefit amount of \19million. Females, younger aged, high income earners, national health insurers and metropolitan citizens were more likely to purchase private health insurance than their counterparts. Conclusions : About half of Korean people have supple-mentary private health insurance and their benefits are sufficient to cover the out-of-pocket fees required for cancer treatment, but inequality remains in the purchase of private health insurance. Further studies are needed to investigate the impacts of private health insurance on NHI, and the relationship between cancer patients' burden and benefits.

Effects of IT-related Household Demand Characteristics on DTV Adoption: An Empirical Analysis Using Micro Data (가구의 정보통신수용도가 DTV 구매에 미치는 영향 micro data를 이용한 실증연구)

  • This paper empirically analyzes determinants of DTV (Digital Television) adoption in household survey data with IT-related household demand characteristics. To this purpose, we conducted a survey for the adoption of DTV to 1,000 households nationwide. In the questionnaire, various questions asking socio-economics characteristics such as age, education, income were included. Also, status of adoption and usage of IT services such as paid broadcasting, internet, and DVD were asked. To analyze the determinants of intention of purchasing, decision of purchasing, and the timing of purchasing DTV, we adopted the ordered logit, binary logit and multinomial legit models. When there is an order among groups, ordered logit was employed and when there is no orders among groups, multinomial logit was emplyed for the estimation. It is found that when conditions of other explanatory variable are constant, the more educated household heads are, the more probable they become early adopters of DTV. It is also found that other conditions being constant, the income level of households and IT-related household demand characteristics are very important factors affecting DTV adoption. Since the likelihood of purchasing DTV is much higher for those who know the government policy of analog broadcasting termination schedule than others who do not know, dissemination of the Korean government's digital broadcasting policy will affect significantly the adoption of DTV. And policy with various incentives ought to be employed to accelerate DTV adoption, because households with the older TV sets are more likely to purchase DTV. It is suggested that the Korean government should develop policy to connect both DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) and DTV since DBS subscribers are more likely to be an early adopter than non-subscribers.

A Study on Determinants of Trade Show's Participation Fees (무역전시회 참가비용의 결정요인에 관한 연구)

  • This research analyzed determining factors of expenditure for processing fee by targeting trade show participants under a microeconomic approach in order to analyze determining factors of the participations of trade shows. As a result, with regard to the participation fees, income and the level of education seemed to be the socioeconomic factors that positively affected visitors in paying admission fees: and age and gender were negative elements. With regard to the participating businesses, the sales and the corporate history of the businesses were the positive elements to their willingness to pay the participation fees: however, the ratio of male and female personnel turned out to be a negative element in incurring the participation fees. The purchase of ticket was a positive mode-of participation factor to the visitors: however, distance tended to be a negative element for the visitors. For the participating businesses, the number of participation tended to be a positive element: however, distance was a negative one. The positive satisfaction factors that affected visitors' willingness to pay the participation fees included exhibited items, location, and schedules for events of the convention: for the participating businesses, the actual sales at the convention, the effects of advertisement and the level of satisfaction for location tended to play positive parts.

  • This study aims to identify and analyze the main factors that determine the properties and buying behavior in the premium bottled select and analyze the degree of impact on the relevant variables are premium water demand. When applied to the truncated negative binomial model to derive the study results: The results of estimating the variables that affect the demand for premium mineral water are as follows. Premium bottled water demand of this group my purchases with a choice between buying behavior variables are significantly higher than the relative population. To also do a good ingredient water, it appeared to be on a statistically significant positive effect on the demand for the more groups you purchase a premium bottled water for the purpose of receiving special feeling, just buy purpose is called to drinking water does not significantly affect to be analyzed. Among demographic characteristics it showed that demand for premium bottled water purchases are significantly higher in women than in men, professional / clerical job, such as the military, college graduates were more consumer research as significant in comparison to the relative population. Taste and package design factors of premium bottled mineral water among the select attribute factors are having a significant positive impact on the purchasing demand, local conditions and cost factors have been estimated to be insignificant.

  • This study is important in its focus to find key clues in the marketing strategy, consumer behavior, and communication processes that define the infantile obesity market. The study, the first of its kind, surveyed a target audience, purchasing group, and housewives in their quest to determine purchasing decisions and effective branding strategy planning for the infantile obesity market. Another key component of the study was to focus on the key direct and/or indirect distribution channels for the subject market. Recently, obesity has emerged as a major social concern; some studies show that the onslaught of an adverse eating culture in Korea emanates from the prevalence of fast-food dining establishments. Obesity among children leads to adult obesity, especially if the young people's parents are overweight; notably, if either one or both of the parents are obese, the percentage of young people eventually being obese is approximately 80 to 85 percent. Because obesity is the cause of many major health concerns later in life, the struggle for a healthy life is considerably adversely affected by parents' consumer behavior. Infantile obesity, resulting in adult obesity, is also an important national economic and social issue. The sizable direct and indirect economic costs, as well as the tremendous social costs of obesity, cannot be overstated. Effective food branding and advertising centered on food preferences and dietary behaviors, especially to children, creates an effective marketing effort that, ultimately, leads to positive results. Thus, the purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the treatment of childhood obesity in Korea, through the activation of a brand and retail market, can effectively solve social and economic problems that result from infantile and childhood obesity. In this study, obesity markets and distribution channels in the purchase decision-making factors determining factor based on it effective inspection and branding strategies and brand marketing communications strategy proposed measures contribute to the obesity drug market and further enable the childhood obesity problem is intended to assist in solving.

Study on the Importance and Performance of Food & Beverage Festival Attributes Using IPA (IPA를 활용한 식음료 축제속성의 중요도와 성취도 연구)

  • This study examined the differences of importance and performance perception level among the food & beverage festival attributes of visitors participating 'Daegu Chimac Festival' and also conducted importance-performance analysis (IPA) of food & beverage festival Attributes. The results were as follows: firstly, food & beverage festival attributes were grouped into four factors such as 'sanitation environment', 'food taste and variety', 'food quality and supplementary service' and 'food purchase convenient.' Secondly, the 4 factors and 21 items of festival attributes showed statistically significant differences in their levels of importance and performance. Finally, results of the questionnaire survey of 322 visitors at '2018 Daegu Chimac Festival' indicated that 'food purchase convenient' and 'food taste and variety' were important to visitors and had high performance. Although attributes related to 'food quality and supplementary service' had an low importance and low performance, and also 'sanitation environment' had an low importance and high performance in the IPA results, they were identified as the key determinants affecting food & beverage festival' success.

  • Unlike the traditional bricks-and-mortar marketplace, the online environment includes several distinct factors that influence Web site trust. As consumers become more savvy about the Internet, the author contends they will insist on doing business with web companies they trust. This study examines 1) how Web site trust is affected by the following web purchase-related factors: security, privacy, brand name, word-of-mouth, good online experience, and quality of information, and 2) how it influences outcomes. Unlike Urban and colleagues' study (2000), the author argues that not all e-trust bUilding programs guarantee success in building Web site trust. In addition to the mechanism depending on a program, building e-brand trust requires a systematic relationship between a consumer and a particular web site. The findings show that Web site trust does not build one or two components but are established by the interrelationships of complex components. By carefully investigating these variables in formulating marketing strategies, marketers can cultivate brand loyalty and gain a formidable competitive edge.

  • This study empirically analyzes casual relationships among psychological and financial factors influencing the subscription of individual pension and identifies mediation effect by the structural equation model. The analysis based on survey data (N=928) from common people living in the seven major cities in Korea shows that potential longevity, coping efficacy to the financial risks from longevity, subjective knowledge on longevity (cognitive factor), trust in insurers (social factor), and financial literacy(financial factor) are key players exercising direct influence over the subscription of individual pension. It also has been shown that affect on longevity, potential longevity, trust in government, and coping efficacy influence the emotions on longevity, fear and worry, and emotions on longevity are not significant in explaining the subscription of individual pension. Trust in insurers and financial knowledge of prospects have also been reaffirmed to be crucial factors in the activation of individual pension subscription.

  • According to the widespread use of smartphone, various and abundant mobile applications have been used and lots of new companies have developed mobile applications. To revitalize mobile application market, a lot of research and experiments have been performed in application development and delivery industries. The purpose of this research is to figure out the usage pattern of smartphone application and purchasing criteria of mobile application. We categorized smartphone application users with respect to application selection criteria and examined the characteristics of the categorized users. As a result, the factors of purchasing criteria of the users with respect to smartphone application selection criteria and application type were categorized into 3 groups: aggressive usage group, middle usage group, and passive usage group. The result of this study indicates that the relationship between purchasing criteria and usage pattern in mobile application market was actualized by measuring the purchasing factors of user. Therefore this fact suggests that it is very important to measure the accurate purchasing factors of its user for setting up the marketing strategy of mobile application market.
