  • A uniformly sampled digital pulse-width modulation adopting a pre-compensation filter scheme for applications in high-resolution digital-to-analog data conversion is described. It is shown that linearization of the intrinsic distortion resulting in uniformly sampled pulse-width modulation can be achieved by using a non-integer delay digital filter embedded within a noise shaping re-quantizer.

  • This paper proposes a SVPWM (space vector pulse width modulation) strategy for a multi-level voltage source inverter. This strategy is easily implemented as SPWM (sinusoidal pulse width modulation) and has the same DC-link voltage utilization as general SVPWM. The method to keep the voltage balancing of DC-link also is proposed by the analysis model of DC-link voltage fluctuation. The usefulness of the proposed SVPWM is verified through the simulation.

  • A novel simplified pulse width modulation(PWM) strategy for neutral point clamped (NPC) three-level converter is proposed in this paper. The direct output voltage modulation is applied to reduce the calculation time. Based on this strategy, several optimized control methods are proposed. The neutral point potential balancing algorithm is discussed and a fine neutral point potential balancing scheme is introduced. Moreover, the minimum pulse width compensation and switching losses reduction can be easily achieved using this modulation strategy. This strategy also gains good results even with the unequal DC link capacitor. The modulation principle is studied in detail and the validity of this simplified PWM strategy is experimentally verified in this paper. The experiment results indicated that the proposed PWM strategy has excellent performance, and the neutral point potential can be balanced well with unequal DC link captaincies.

  • This paper concerns a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) controller design technique using digital redesign. Digital redesign is to convert a well-designed analog controller into an equivalent pulse-amplitude-modulation (PAM) controller maintaining the original analog control system in the sense of state-matching. In similar line of conversion concept, the redesigned PAM controller is converted into a PWM controller using the equivalent area principle. To convincingly visualize the proposed technique, an computer simulation example-attitude control of artificial satellite system is included.

  • To enhance the competitive edge of the material cost, IP(Integrated Power) Board form of inverter circuit is widely used in large area LCD TV(Greater than or equal to 40 in.). This scheme is Two Stage System and one inverter drives multi-lamp in a parallel circuit. This paper analyzes the conventional IP Board inverter controlled with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), and its problems such as serious hard switching and excessive circulating energy can be solved by a proposed Pulse Count Modulation (PCM) scheme. To confirm the validity and superiority of the proposed system, theoretical analysis and experimental results are presented.

  • Switched mode power supplies (SMPS) are power electronic circuits extensively used in a wide range of applications. High frequency switching operation of SMPS causes electromagnetic emissions and has the potential to interfere with system operation, which in turn has an impact on system performance. This makes electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) an important concern. In this paper, a new and simple spread spectrum technique is proposed by modulating chaotic pulse position modulation (CPPM) and pulse width modulation (PWM). The resulting CPWM is implemented to reduce the conducted EMI in SMPS. The proposed method is found to be effective in reducing conduction EMI. The effectiveness and simplicity of the proposed method on spreading those dominating frequencies is compared to the EMI mitigation technique using an external chaotic generator. Finally, the levels of conductive EMI with standard PWM, CPWM with an external chaos generator and the proposed method are experimentally verified to comply with the CISPR 22A regulations. The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a family of continuous conduction mode with constant-switching pulse width modulator controllers. Unified implementation of quasi steady state approach for various DC-DC converters topoiogies is illustrated. The property and control low for quasi-state approach will be discussed in this paper. The different procedures will be discussed in details with different results for five commonly used DC-DC converters. Both trailing and leading edge pulse width modulation are used. Leading edge modulation can some times lead to simpler control circuitry as will be demonstrated in some circuits. These controllers do not require the multiplier in the voltage feed back loop, error amplifier in the current loop and rectified line voltage sensor, which are needed by traditional control methods. Controller examples and design arc analyzed.

  • In this work, a temperature stable PWM(Pulse width modulation) circuit is proposed. The designed PWM circuit has a temperature dependent current source and a temperature independent voltage to compensate electrical characteristics with operating temperature. The variation of driving current is from about 4% to -6% in the temperature range $0^{\circ}C\;to\;70^{\circ}C$ compared to the current at the room temperature. The variation of bandgap voltage reference is from about 1.3% to -0.2% with temperature when the supply voltage is 3.3 volts. From simulation results, the variation of output pulse width is less than from 0.86% to -0.38% in the temperature range $0^{\circ}C\;to\;70^{\circ}C$.
