Since the morden targets are of high speed and getting quiet in both active and passive mode, the necessities of developing advanced SONAR system capable of performing target motion analysis (TMA) and target classification are evident. In order to develop such a system, the scattering mechanism of complex bodies needs to be, some extent, fully understood and modeled. In this paper, MOving Spread Target(MOST) signal simulation model is presented and discussed. The model is based on the highlight distribution method, and simulates pulse elongation of spread target, doppler effect due to kinematics of the target as well as SONAR platform, and distribution target strength of each highlight point (HL) with directivity. The model can be used in developing and evaluating advanced SONAR system through system simulation, and can also be used in the development of target state estimation algorithm.
Exposure rates due to leakage gamma-rays from operating reactors TRIGA Mark II and III were measured in a horizontal plane by means of scintillation spectrometry using a 3"$\times$3" cylindrical Nal(T1) detector associated with a 400 channel pulse height analyzer under varied conditions of reactor operation. In determining exposure rate due to the leakage gamma-rays at each point of measurement, Moriuchi's spectrum-exposure rate conversion theory was applied instead of using conventional responce matrix method which necessitates very complicated procedures to convert a spectrum into exposure rate. The results show that a basic pattern of "typical" spectrum of the reactor leakage gamma-rays is neither affected by thermal output of the reactor, nor influenced by overall attenuation in radiation intensity. It was indicated that he attenuation of the leakage gamma-rays in air in terms of exposure rate as a whole follows an exponential law, and the total exposure rate due to the leakage gamma-rays at a certain point is nearly proportional to thermal output of the reactor. The complexity in spectrum measured for a movable core reactor, TRIGA Mark III, was analyzed through spectrum resolution, and proper judgement of the leakage gamma-rays in a complex spectrum was discussed.ctrum was discussed.

This paper presents a method to measure reflection coefficients of microwave devices or antennas based on time domain analysis with sampling oscilloscopes. The reflection coefficients were extracted by the Fourier transformation of echo pulses from devices with respect to the 20 GHz incident pulse signals. The three-error terms, which are commonly used for the correction of a microwave network, were determined using a 3.5 mm calibration kit. In addition, a modified error-correction model associated with a directional coupler for reflection coefficient measurements is introduced. The results were compared with those of measured with a commercial vector network analyzer.

In this paper, we propose a QAPM(Quadrature Amplitude Position Modulation) modulation using compressive sensing for the purpose of power efficiency improvement. QAPM modulation is a combination technique of QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) and PPM(Pulse Position Modulation). Therefore it can decrease the transmission power and improve BER performance. Moreover, even if the band width is widened when the number of positions is increased, high sparsity characteristic caused by position number can be applied to compressive sensing technique. Compressive sensing has recently studied as a method that can be successfully reconstructed from the small number of measurements for sparse signal. Therefore, the proposed system can lower price of receiver by reducing sampling rate and has performance improved by using QAPM modulation. And the results are confirmed through simulations.

A This paper presents a novel three-phase current-fed Pulse Width Modulation converter with switched- capacitor type resonant DC link commutation circuit operating PWM pattern strategy under a design consideration of low-pass filter, which can operate on the basis of the principle of zero current soft-switching commutation. In the first place, the steady-state operating principle of this converter with a new resonant DC link snubber circuit is described in connection with the equivalent operation circuit, together with the practical design procedure of the switched-capacitor type resonant DC link circuit is discussed from a theoretical viewpoint on the basis of a design example for high-power applications. The actively delayed time correction method to compensate distorted currents due to a relatively long resonant commutation time is newly implemented in the open loop control scheme so as to acquire the new optimum PWM pattern. Finally, the experiment or set-up in laboratory system or this converter is concretely demonstrated herein to confirm a zero current soft-switching commutation of this converter. The comparative evaluations between current-fed hard switching PWM and soft-switching PWM converters are carried out from a viewpoint of their PWM converter characteristics.

This research develops an ultrasonic sensor to measure the distance in underwater. The ultrasonic transducer transmits an acoustic signal to an object and receives the echo signal reflected from the object. The ultrasonic driver calculates a distance by multiplying the acoustic speed to the time of flight(TOF) which is the time necessary for the acoustic signal to travel from the transducer to the object. We apply a thresholding and a cross correlation methods to detect the TOF and show their results. When an echo pulse is corrupted with noise and its shape is distorted, the cross correlation method is used to find the TOF based on the maximum similarity between the reference and the delayed echo signals. The echoes used for the reference signal are achieved at the different environments, which improves the performance of the sensor. This paper describes the driver of the acoustic sensor and analyzes the performance of sensors in different measurement environments.

In this paper, in order to develop a simple and high efficient ballast without an external ignitor, a half-bridge type ballast with a coupled inductor and a frequency controlled synchronous rectifier is proposed. The Internal LC resonance of the buck converter is used to generate a high voltage pulse for the ignition, and the coupled inductor filter is used for steady state ripple cancellation. Also, a synchronous buck converter is applied for the DC/DC converter stage. In order to improve the efficiency of the ballast, a frequency control method is proposed. This scheme reduces a circulation current and trun off loss of the MOSFET switch on the constant power operation, which results in increase of the efficiency of the ballast system about 4$\%$, compared to a fixed frequency control. It consists a 2-stage version ballast with a PFC circuit. The results are verified nth hardware experiments.

The Sinusoidal Transform Coding(STC) is a vocoding scheme based on a sinusoidal model of a speech signal. The low bit-rate speech coding based on sinusoidal model is a method that models and synthesizes speech with fundamental frequency and its harmonic elements, spectral envelope and phase in the frequency region. In this paper, we propose the 2.4kbps low-rate speech coding algorithm using the sinusoidal model of a speech signal. In the proposed coder, the pitch frequency is estimated by choosing the frequency that makes least mean squared error between synthetic speech with all spectrum peaks and speech synthesized with chosen frequency and its harmonics. The spectral envelope is estimated using SEEVOC(Spectral Envelope Estimation VOCoder) algorithm and the discrete all-pole model. The phase information is obtained using the time of pitch pulse occurrence, i.e., the onset time, as well as the phase of the vocal tract system. Experimental results show that the synthetic speech preserves both the formant and phase information of the original speech very well. The performance of the coder has been evaluated in terms of the MOS test based on informal listening tests, and it achieved over the MOS score of 3.1.
Implant prototypes with various porosities were fabricated by electro-discharge-sintering of atomized spherical Ti-6Al-4V powders. Single pulse of 0.75 to 2.0 kJ/0.7 g-powder, using 150, 300, and $450{\mu}F$ capacitors was applied to produce a fully porous and porous surfaced implant compact. The solid core formed in the center of the compact after discharge was composed of acicular ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ grains and porous layer consisted of particles connected in three dimensions by necks. The solid core and neck sizes increased with an increase in input energy and capacitance. On the other hand, pore volume decreased with increased capacitance and input energy due to the formation of solid core. Capacitance and input energy are the only controllable discharge parameters even though the heat generated during a discharge is the unique parameter that determines the porosity of compact. It is known that electro-discharge-sintering of spherical Ti-6Al-4V powders can efficiently produce fully-porous and porous surfaced Ti-6Al-4V implants with various porosities in a short time less then 400 isec by manipulating the discharging condition such as input energy and capacitance including powder size.
An objective of this study is to develop a voltage measuring device that uses a gas-filled switch (GS) on 22.9 kV-y extra-high voltage distribution lines. The voltage measuring device proposed in this paper is a kind of capacitive divider which consists of a detecting electrode attached outside of the bushing of GS, an impedance matching circuit, and a voltage buffer. It can be easily installed in an established GS without changing the structure. For the calibration and application investigations, the voltage measuring device was set up in the 25.8 kV 400 A GS, and a step pulse generator having 5 ns rise time is used. As a result, it was found that the frequency bandwidth of the voltage measuring device ranges from 1.35 Hz to about 13 MHz. The error of voltage dividing ratio which is evaluated by the commercial frequency voltage of 60 Hz was less than 0.2%. In addition, voltage dividing ratio in the commercial frequency voltage and in a non-oscillating impulse voltage were compared, and their deviation were less than 0.7%.
