본 연구의 목적은 사서와 이용자의 공공도서관에 대한 인식을 비교 분석함으로써 도서관 발전방안 수립 및 서비스 방향 설정에 필요한 기초정보를 제공하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 서울특별시교육청 공공도서관의 사서와 이용자 각각 270명, 820명을 대상으로 현재 도서관의 환경, 미래 도서관의 역할 및 위상, 도서관 정책과 관련한 설문조사를 수행하였다. 조사 결과, 사서들은 오랜 역사와 축적된 자원을 가장 큰 강점으로 인식하는 반면, 이용자들은 인적자원에 대한 만족도가 가장 높게 나타났다. 공공도서관의 역할과 미래의 위상에 대해서는 사서와 이용자 모두 독서와 교육을 중요하게 인식하고 있어, 두 집단이 공공도서관에 대한 공통된 기대를 갖고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 미래 도서관의 정책 방안으로 사서는 노후시설의 개선과 사서의 재교육을 제시한 반면, 이용자는 장서 확충과 열람실 이용 확대를 원하는 등 두 집단 사이의 인식차이가 있는 것으로 나타나 이러한 인식 차이를 고려한 공공도서관 정책 개발의 필요성을 보여주었다.

본 연구의 목적은 이용자가 공공도서관을 통해 받는 혜택이 무엇이며 얼마나 누리고 있는가를 설명하기 위함이다. 주로 국외 문헌을 통해 밝혀진 공공도서관의 혜택을 국내 도서관 이용자의 시각에서 재조명하고 해석하며 혜택의 수혜 정도를 도서관 이용자 측면에서 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 S도서관 이용자를 대상으로 도서관 이용으로 인해 얻는 혜택과 그 수준을 측정하였다. 개방형 질문지를 통해 자유롭게 기술된 이용자의 응답을 키워드로 추출하여 혜택의 유형과 내용을 파악하였고 향유지표를 기반으로 한 13개 혜택 항목을 통해 혜택의 수준을 파악하였다. S도서관 이용자들은 도서관 이용으로 독서, 경제적 이익, 개인적인 충족, 위안, 평안, 만족감 순으로 혜택을 인식하였다. 향유결과지표를 통해 본 이용자의 혜택 수준은 더 많은 독서(4.31)와 경제적 이익(4.14)이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 혜택은 성별과 학력별로는 차이를 보이지 않았고 연령대와 직업별로는 혜택의 수준이 다양하게 나타났다. 가족간의 유대, 아이의 독서, 문화를 즐김, 업무능력의 향상과 같은 혜택이 연령대별로 차이가 나타났고 경제적 이득에 대한 혜택은 주부와 취업준비생과 같은 비경제활동 인구가 가장 많이 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

This study is to evaluate the economies of scale of the public libraries in metropolitan cities. The results of the regression analysis confirm that for all samples of libraries there is diseconomies of scale in library operations (${\Sigma}b_{n}$≒6.14∼10.91). Therefore, all the types of public libraries should be improve productivity by user-based collection development, increasing circulation turnover rate, activation of in-library use, strengthening mobile library services, rational planning of services area, development of reading programs connected with the curriculum, a new branch library plans, etc.

본 연구에서는 공공도서관 단위로 드러나는 이용자의 정보요구 특성을 파악하기 위해, 서울시 8개 자치구 11개 공공도서관을 대상으로 각 도서관에서 대출 이용된 도서가 지니는 다양한 속성 정보에 기반하여 이용자 요구를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 도서관별로 이용자의 정보요구의 특성이 드러나고 있었으며, 이용대상, 이용목적/동기, 관심사/취향, 도서 장르, 주제와 연관된 두드러진 도서 이용양상을 파악할 수 있었다. 또한, 도서관별 저자에 대한 선호도도 존재하고 있었으며, 선호하는 저자의 역할에서의 차이도 드러났다. 본 연구의 결과는 이용자 요구에 기반한 차별화된 장서 개발과 서비스 프로그램 개발을 위한 가이드라인을 제공하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.

The contemporary concept of publicness is reinterpreted from the point of view of contemporary publicness. Contemporary perception of public space has now branched and grown into a multitude of non-traditional sites with a variety of programs in mind. In this study, the aim is to discuss how contemporary public library has been evolved as public space and how to create User-centered interaction. In the case of developed countries, the Public Libraries have showed the expected effects because they have more systematic and efficient plan. Also, these libraries are placed with each facility, not distributed separately. It promotes the accumulation of profit on the space and Increases the efficiency. They support more effectively users' activities through the linkages between each facility and create the active interaction between users. Formation of the various interactions and synergies between space had been induced. Publicity means that the state will relate a combination of a number of specific public area. In addition, open space, public place, shall be directed to: This place as one of the users in order to have meaning, must be equipped with the facilities and space to communicate and understand the local role. Methods of the study are to analyze the concept and role of the users with the concept of modern publicity, to examine the concept of multi-complexity of public libraries for the user-oriented publicness, to learn about the characteristics of public spaces in the public libraries that appear in the advanced countries, to examine how to affect these characteristics in the public libraries, and to suggest the possibility and the various application methods on the characteristics of a public space. In the end, the public libraries for the realization of the publicity, support program complexity such as education and culture, welfare facilities, and public service facilities. In the 21st century, these complexity to improve the quality of service in public libraries. These spaces can be an alternative to be kept comfortable in a more vibrant area, and can affect the social, natural, cultural, and environmental aspects of the physical environment and the objects and relationships, as well as expand.

공공도서관이 지역사회에 대한 정보를 수집하고 제공해야 하는 것은 지역사회 기반시설로서 매우 중요한 업무 중의 하나이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 공공도서관의 지역정보서비스 활성화를 위한 방안을 제시하고자 공공도서관 및 이용자 대상 공공도서관 지역정보서비스에 대한 이용자 인식 및 요구조사를 실시하였다. 이를 토대로 하여 공공도서관의 지역정보서비스 활성화 방안으로 지역정보 이용을 위한 접근점 다양화, 이용자 요구를 반영한 지역정보 콘텐츠 개발, 공공도서관 중심의 지역정보서비스 협의체 구성, 인식 개선 및 이용 활성화를 통한 지역정보서비스 홍보를 제언하였다.

최근 새로운 형태의 공공도서관 즉, 타시설과 한 건물 혹은 한 대지에 같이 건립되는 복합시설 공공도서관이 부각되었다. 새로운 형태의 공공도서관이 이용자의 우호적인 지지와 지자체의 적극적인 지원을 받기 위해서는 이에 대한 이용자들의 평가와 요구에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 한 도서관의 운영전략 및 건립방안이 세워져야 할 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 서울소재 28개관의 복합시설 공공도서관 이용자를 대상으로 도서관 이용만족도와 복합화에 대한 인식을 조사하기 위하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 복합시설 공공도서관 이용자들은 복합시설 도서관을 이용하면서 인적자원, 정보자원, 서비스, 환경, 지역사회의 유대에 대해 대체적으로 만족하고 있으며, 복합화에 대해서도 긍정적으로 인식하고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 복합시설 공공도서관이 이용자에게 더 만족할 수 있는 환경과 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 도서관에 대한 편리한 접근성, 충분한 도서관의 규모 확보, 외부소음 방지 방안, 복합이용의 시너지 효과를 보일 수 있는 타시설과 연계, 복합시설 내 타시설과의 연계 프로그램 활성화 등이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

본 연구는 오늘날 점차 확장되고 있는 스마트폰을 통한 정보서비스에 대한 이용자 인식과 요구를 알아보았으며, 특히 관련 연구나 서비스 제공이 미흡한 공공도서관에 중점을 두었다. 연구를 위해서는 공공도서관 이용자를 대상으로 설문조사와 면접을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 공공도서관 이용자들은 스마트 폰을 통해 도서관 정보서비스를 이용하는 것에 대해 긍정적인 인식과 함께 e-Contents 서비스에 대한 높은 기대를 나타냈다. 그러나 이용자들은 스마트폰이 기존 정보서비스의 혁신을 가져오는 것이 아니라 정보서비스에 대한 또 하나의 접근점으로 작용할 것이라고 인식하고 있었다.

본 연구는 최근 들어 급증하는 도서관의 신축과 기존의 오래된 도서관 건물을 리모델링하는 현상이 급격히 증가하는데 따른 도서관 공간 구성에 관한 연구이다. 지금까지의 도서관 건축은 정보수요자인 도서관 이용자들의 기초가 배제된 채 일반건축 행정 양상을 띄어 왔다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 이용자들의 이용행태 (요일별, 방문시간대, 계층별, 이용공간별 등)를 조사하여 각각의 항목을 교차분석 하였다. 분석의 결과는 이용시간대는 오후 2시가 가장 많고, 가장 많이 이용하는 공간은 어린이 열람실임 밝혀졌고, 이용자 계층은 중 고생 다음으로 성인층이 가장 많은 것으로 밝혀졌다.

The purpose of this study is to understand the required concept in the architectural competition for public library and its application in design process. The research is based on the 27 design guideline of architectural competition for public library from 2009 to 2013 and, as a case study, the project for the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Library, the prize winner in 2014. Three required concepts; symbolism, function, and sustainability, are categorized through the analysis on the design guideline of 27 competitions and are identified. Symbolism is expressed by landmark forms based on the local characteristics. The function of public library means to provide services to everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, religion etc., as a local community. Sustainability is related to passive architecture for the maintenance and management of buildings. These three concepts for public library applied on the design process of Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Library and design elements in each process are categorized in three concepts. The results shows not only how closely the locality and a user are related, but also the changes in the appearance of a public library as time passed.
