Pyoelectric infrared detectors based on La-modified PbTiO3 (PLT) thin films have been fabricated by RF magnetron sputtering and micromachining technology. The detectors form Pb$_{1-x}$ La$_{x}$Ti$_{1-x}$ O$_{3}$ (x=0.05) thin film ferroelectric capacitors epitaxially grown by RF magnetron sputtering on Pt/MgO (100) substrate. The sputtered PLT thin film exhibits highly c-axis oriented crystal struture that no poling trealization for sensing applications is required. This is an essential factor to increase the yield for realization of an infrared image sensor. Micromachining technology is used to lower the thermal mass of the detector by giving maximum sensor efficiency. Polyimide is coated on top of the sensing elements to support the fragile structure and the backside of the MgO substrate is selectively eteched to reduce the heat loss. The sensing element exhibited a very high detectivity D* of 8.5*10$^{8}$ cm..root.Hz/W at room temperature and it is about 100 times higher than the case of micromachining technology is not used. a sensing system that detects the position as well as the existence of a human body is realized using the array sensor.sor.
Effects of the $Al_2$O$_3$surface protective layer, deposited on the SnO$_2$sensing layer by aerosol flame deposition (AFD) method, on the sensing properties of SnO$_2$thin film ags sensors were investigated.Effects of Pt doping to the $Al_2$O$_3$surface protective layer on the selectivity of CH$_4$ gas were also investigated. 0.3$\mu\textrm{m}$ thick SnO$_2$thin sensing layers on Pt electrodes were prepared by R.F. magnetron sputtering with R.F. power of 50 W, at working pressure of 4mTorr, and at 20$0^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. $Al_2$O$_3$surface protective layers on SnO$_2$layers were prepared by AFD using a diluted aluminum nitrade (Al(NO$_3$).9$H_2O$) solution. The sensitivity of CO gas in the SnO$_2$gas sensor with an $Al_2$O$_3$surface protective layer was significantly decreased. But that of CH$_4$gas remained almost same with pure SnO$_2$gas sensor. This result shows that the selectivity of CH$_4$gas is increased because of the $Al_2$O$_3$surface protective layer. In the case of SnO$_2$gas sensors with Pt-doped $Al_2$O$_3$surface protective layers, low sensing property to CO gas and high sensing property to CH$_4$were observed. This results in the increasing of selectivity of CH$_4$gas selectivity are discussed.

The nano-sized quantum structure has been an attractive candidate for investigations of the fundamental physical properties and potential applications of next-generation electronic devices. Metal nano-particles form deep quantum wells between control and tunnel oxides due to a difference in work functions. The charge storage capacity of nanoparticles has led to their use in the development of nano-floating gate memory (NFGM) devices. When compared with conventional floating gate memory devices, NFGM devices offer a number of advantages that have attracted a great deal of attention: a greater inherent scalability, better endurance, a faster write/erase speed, and more processes that are compatible with conventional silicon processes. To improve the performance of NFGM, metal nanocrystals such as Au, Ag, Ni Pt, and W have been proposed due to superior density, a strong coupling with the conduction channel, a wide range of work function selectivity, and a small energy perturbation. In the present study, bismuth metal nanocrystals were self-assembled within high-k $Bi_2Mg_{2/3}Nb_{4/3}O_7$ (BMN) films grown at room temperature in Ar ambient via radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. The work function of the bismuth metal nanocrystals (4.34 eV) was important for nanocrystal-based nonvolatile memory (NVM) applications. If transparent NFGM devices can be integrated with transparent solar cells, non-volatile memory fields will open a new platform for flexible electron devices.

High dielectric (Ba, Sr) TiO$_3$ thin films were etched in an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) as a function of Cl$_2$/Ar mixing ration. Under Cl$_2$(20)/Ar(80), the maximum etch rate of the BST films was 400 $\AA$/mim and selectivities of BST to Pt and PR were obtained 0.4 and 0.2, respectively. Etching products were redeposited on the surface of BST and resulted in varying the nature of crystallinity. Therefore, we investigated the etched surface of BST by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) atomic force microscopy (AFM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). From the result of XPS analysis, we found that residues of Ba-Cl and Ti-Cl bonds remained on the surface of the etched BST for high boiling point. The morphology of the etched surfact was analyzed by AFM. A smoothsurface(roughness ~2.8nm) ws observed under Cl$_2$(20)/Ar(80), rf power of 600 W, dc bias voltage of -250 V and pressure of 10 mTorr. This changed the nature of the crystallinity of BST. From the result of XRD analysis, the crystallinities of the etched BST film under Ar only and Cl$_2$(20)/Ar(80) were maintained as similar to as-deposited BST. However, intensity of BST(100) orientation under Cl$_2$ only plasma was abruptly decreased. This indicated that CI compounds were redeposited on the etched BST surface and resulted in changed of the crystallinity of BST during the etch process.

The effect of electrode and deposition methods on non-linear interfacial resistive switching in HfO2 based $250{\times}250$ nm2 cross-point device was studied. HfO2 based device has the interfacial resistive switching properties of non-linearity and self-compliance current switching. The operating current in HfO2 based device was increased with negatively increasing the heat of formation energy in top electrode. Also, it was investigated that the operating current in HfO2 based device was changed with deposition methods of O3 reactant ALD, H2O reactant ALD and dc reactive sputtering, resulting the magnitude of the operating current and on/off ratio in order of HfO2 films deposited by dc reactive sputtering, H2O reactant ALD, and O3 reactant ALD. To investigate the effect of electrode and deposition methods on operating current of non-linear interfacial resistive switching in the cross-point device, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was measured. Through the analysis of O 1s spectra, non-lattice oxygen concentration, which is closely related to oxygen vacancies, was increased in order of Pt, TiN, and Ti top electrodes and in order of O3 reactant ALD, H2O reactant ALD, and O3 reactant ALD, and dc reactive sputtering deposition method. From all results, non-lattice oxygen concentration in ultra-thin HfO2 films play a crucial role in the operating current and memory states (LRS & HRS) in the non-linear interfacial resistive switching.
CoPtCr magnetic layer was fabricated on the Cr underlayer by RF magnetron sputtering and the protective $SiO_2$ layer was deposited at room temperature. As the thickness of Cr underlayer increased, the coercive force of magnetic layer increased, then saturated slightly further increasing Cr underlayer thickness. Maximum coercive force was 860 Oe. It is thought that in-plane arrangement of magnetic phase and magnetic decoupling between the magnetic crystallites could lead to the increase of the coercive force. Post-annealing raised the coercive force exceedingly. and maximum coercive force value was 1650 Oe which was acquired from the sample annealed at 55$0^{\circ}C$ for 1hr.
Epitaxial $L1_0$ FePd (001) thin films were successfully manufactured by sputtering deposition method. The structure and magnetic properties of FePd thin films were characterized as a function of Fe compositions. It was found that the long-range ordering parameter had a maximum for the stoichiometric composition, whereas the magnetic anisotropy had a maximum as the Fe content is decreased to slightly above the stoichiometric composition. This indicates that the stoichiometry is directly contributed to the chemical ordering and the magnetic anisotropy. These results imply that nonstoichiometric FePd compositions, with a slight excess of Pd, may in fact be preferred for applications that require high magnetic anisotropy.
One of the weak points of the Cr-doped SZO is that until now, it has only been fabricated on perovskite substrates, whereas NiO-ReRAM devices have already been deposited on Si substrates. The fabrication of RAM devices on Si substrates is important for commercialization because conventional electronics are based mainly on silicon materials. Cr-doped ReRAM will find a wide range of applications in embedded systems or conventional memory device manufacturing processes if it can be fabricated on Si substrates. For application of the commercial memory device, Cr-doped $SrZrO_3$ perovskite thin films were deposited on a $SrRuO_3$ bottom electrode/Si(100)substrate using pulsed laser deposition. XRD peaks corresponding to the (112), (004) and (132) planes of both the SZO and SRO were observed with the highest intensity along the (112) direction. The positions of the SZO grains matched those of the SRO grains. A well-controlled interface between the $SrZrO_3$:Cr perovskite and the $SrRuO_3$ bottom electrode were fabricated, so that good resistive switching behavior was observed with an on/off ratio higher than $10^2$. A pulse test showed the switching behavior of the Pt/$SrZrO_3:Cr/SrRuO^3$ device under a pulse of 10 kHz for $10^4$ cycles. The resistive switching memory devices made of the Cr-doped $SrZrO_3$ thin films deposited on Si substrates are expected to be more compatible with conventional Si-based electronics.

The photoluminescence (PT) properties of Al-doped ZnO thin films grown by the sol-gel dip-coating method have been investigated. At 12 K, nine distinct PL peaks were observed at 2.037, 2.592, 2.832, 3.027, 3.177, 3.216, 3.260, 3.303, and 3.354 eV. The deep-level emissions (2.037, 2.592, 2.832, and 3.027 eV) were attributed to native defects. The near-band-edge (NBE) emission peaks at 3.354, 3.303, 3.260, 3.216, and 3.177 eV were attributed to the emission of the neutral-donor-bound excitons ($D^0X$), two-electron satellite (TES), free-to-neutral-acceptors (e,$A^0$), donor-acceptor pairs (DAP), and second-order longitudinal optical (2LO) phonon replicas of the TES (TES-2LO), respectively. According to Haynes' empirical rule, we calculated the energy of a free exciton (FX) to be 3.374 eV. The thermal activation energy for $D^0X$ in the nanocrystalline ZnO thin film was found to be ~25 meV, corresponding to the thermal dissociation energy required for $D^0X$ transitions.

The $Sr_{0.8}Bi_{2.4}Ta_2O_9(SBT)$ thin films are deposited on Pt-coated electrode($Pt/TiO_2/SiO_2/Si$) using RF magnetron sputtering method. With increasing post-annealing temperature from $600[^{\circ}C]$ to $850[^{\circ}C]$, Bi-layered perovskite phase was crystallized above $650[^{\circ}C]$. The maximum remanent polarization and the coercive electric field is 11.60[${\mu}C/cm^{2}$] 48[kV/cm] respectively. The leakage current density of SBT capacitor at post-annealing temperature of $750[^{\circ}C]$ is $1.01{\times}10^{-8}A/cm^2$ at 100[kV/cm]
