  • Objectives: We performed this study to certify the objectivity and significance of the Core Assessment Instrument Based on Chiljeong as a diagnostic measure in insomnia patients. Methods: We collected self-report questionnaires from inpatient and outpatient targets that had symptoms of insomnia. Descriptive statistics, Independent t-test, One-way repeated measure ANOVA and Pearson Correlation analysis were used for data analysis. Results: Bi and Kyeong emotion scores were higher but the Hui emotion score was lower for insomnia patients. Regarding the relationship between ISI score and the Core Assessment Instrument Based on Chiljeong, the more severe the insomnia, the higher the Sa and Kyeong emotion scores were, whereas the Hui emotion score was lower. Patients that were male, married, old, and had higher education showed a stronger correlation between Gyeong and ISI scores. Conclusions: Using the Core Assessment Instrument Based on Chiljeong for insomnia is thought to be helpful in both the diagnostic and clinical aspects of insomnia.

  • This study purposed to standardize the Korean versions of the General Health Questionnaire, especially KGHQ-20 and KGHQ-30, through the evaluation of their reliability and validity. The two KGHQs, along with several other scales that measure psychological symptoms, were administered to 916 students and 102 chronically mentally ill patients at mental health hospitals in Korea. Both of the KGHQs were found to have high reliability based on test-retest correlation coefficients, internal consistency (Chronbach's ${\alpha}$) as scales, and item-total correlations for most of the items. The two KGHQ scores were shown to have high validity based on three methods of analysis; first, both KGHQ scores had highly significant correlations with most of other measures for psychopathology, such as SCL-90, CES-D, SDS, BAI, STAI; second, there were significant differences of the two KGHQ scores between the group of mentally healthy students and the group of chronically mentally ill patients; the validity of the KGHQ-30 was also derived from high sensitivity and specificity, which helped identify the best cut-off points: 15/16 for the KGHQ-30. The cut-off point for the KGHQ-20 was determined at 12/13 based on the mean scores and standard deviations of other scales as well as of the KGHQ-20.

  • Single-person household is estimated to be about 26.5% of the total household in 2015, which counts as 5060000 in numbers. We opt to acknowledge the various requests of these single residents, and in order to raise their satisfaction, we investigated on how personal taste, psychological interest, and personality attribute affects the user's preference of space organization and furniture in one room housing. Using the qualified psychology program, Enneagram Personality Type Indicator, we surveyed young people under 30 years old (majority of single-person households), regarding space organization and furniture preference. With the help of a specialist, the survey was constructed with appropriate evaluation items (space organization in one room households, bed, sofa, furniture material, etc), and analyzed the relationship between the evaluated items and personality types. Results showed there is a relationship between personality types and spatial structure. First, preference of spatial structure differed for different personality types. Second, the shape and size of furniture was dependent more on the ease of usability and design rather than on the personality types. One thing to consider is that type 1 and 9 accounted for about 50% of the total surveys. This emphasizes that the preferred spatial structure of a dominant specific personality type should not be overlooked.

Methods : Patients were diagnosed with Hwa-Byung through Hwa-Byung Diagnostic interview schedule (HBDIS). They were treated with Oriental medical treatment (Acupncture, Herb-medication) and Melonis Calyx Vomiting Therapy (MCVT). MCVT is a traditional treatment, which induces vomiting by eating Melonis Calyx powder with water. We used VAS score and Scott scale for the symptoms of patients and IOMEHB (instrument of oriental medical evaluation for Hwa-Byung), BDI, STAI for the psychological conditions of the patients. Results : After treatment, the chief complaint and other symptoms of Hwa-Byung have improved. The scores of IOMEHB, BDI, and STAI have decreased. • Wernicke korsakoff syndrome is caused by thiamine deficiency in the body. Thiamine not available in the body, is a substance to be taken from outside with foods. There are some conditions that reduce the metabolism of thiamine taken from the body and cause a vital risk. The most important factor is alcoholism. Wernicke Korsakoff syndrome produces both neurological and vestibular symptoms. At the same time, the damage of these symptoms to the patient psychology cannot be ignored. The aim of this study is to investigate the damage and mechanism of the syndrome in the vestibular system. In this study, we investigated vestibular symptoms of Wernicke Korsakoff syndrome due to thiamine deficiency, differences of vestibular system according to individuals and mechanism of damage caused by syndrome in vestibular system. Thiamine deficiency is caused by Wernicke Karsokoff syndrome with some external factors. This syndrome shows the most important effects of alcoholism. It causes neurological, vestibular and psychological symptoms. In this context, we can say that thiamine deficiency is a disease that causes damage in the vestibular system due to nystagmus formation and imbalance. The most important detail in the treatment stage is the detailed evaluation of symptoms associated with each other.

  • High-rise and high-density apartment complexes has been built and supplied on a large scale in the metropolis and metropolitan areas since 1980s in order to solve housing shortage in cities. Recently they are raising deterioration problems for aging more than 20 years. moreover, those problems show very special characters such as simultaneity and a large scale. The purpose of this study is to propose a direction for the development of the evaluating indicators to measure the level of deterioration of apartments. The level of deterioration of apartments can be evaluated by housing performance. In order to evaluate the deterioration comprehensively, the housing performance indicators should be developed on the social, economical, and physical dimension. This study analyzed the concept of the apartment deterioration and compared housing performance indicators through literature review. First of all, when considering various factors in the evaluation of the deteriorated apartments, such as evaluating ranges, attributes and dimensions, housing performance indicators should be structured with the hierarchical framework. Second, housing performance indicators evaluating the level of deterioration of apartments should include social, psychological, and cultural aspects of home environments in order to understand adequately the attitude of the middle class toward services that apartments provide. Third, in previous researches, most criteria have been developed and weighted based on only expert opinions regarding performance indicators. So, It is necessary to include residents' opinions in developing performance indicators since they can provide more practical and feasible aspects the experts could not experience or understand.
