  • Enhancement of photocatalytic activity of UV/photocatalysis was carried out to oxidize the gaseous $H_2S$ in a tubular reactor coated with photocatalyst of sol type $TiO_2$. EtOH was used as the standard material to select the photocatalyst, and it was confirmed that the reactor activity was dependent on the coated surface characteristics. The selected photocatalytic reactor, which coated with STS-01, showed about 80% conversion when the gas linear velocity was 0.01 m/s and relative humidity was 40%. However, the conversion level of the reaction decreased significantly with increasing gas linear velocity. Pt was loaded on the photocatalyst to enhance and maintain the performance of the reactor, which enhanced the conversion level of $H_2S$ more than 95% under the same experimental condition.

  • In preparing micron-sized monodisperse polystyrene beads by dispersion polymerization, the conversion, and the particle size and its distribution were affected by the reaction temperature, concentration of the monomer, solvent and initiator, molecular weight and concentration of the steric stabilizer, amount of oxygen existing in the reactor, and an appropriate combination of these starting materials. Ethanol as a dispersing agent, styrene as a monomer, PVP as a steric stabilizer, AIBN as an initiator, DVB as a cross-linking agent and toluene as a co-solvent were the basic materials for the synthesis. The reaction rate and the conversion were increased with the reaction temperature and the amount of DVB from 1 to 4%, and the conversion was saturated after 10 hours of the reaction time. The optimum reaction recipe for the preparation of the monodisperse PS beads was 25% styrene monomer, 0.5% DVB, 25% toluene, 10-15% PVP, and 2 and 4% AIBN, thereby, 3.9~4 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 3.4~9.3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of polystyrene beads, respectively, were successfully synthesized.

  • Photoxynthetic properties of polyvinylalcohol (PVA)-immobilized chloroplast especially regarded to stability of photosynthetic electron transport and the fluorescence induction pattern were studied. When isolated spinach chloroplasts were immobilized with PVA, it showed good preservation of photosynthetic electron transport activity, especially PS II activity, during storage at -15$^{\circ}C$, 4$^{\circ}C$ and 2$0^{\circ}C$. And immobilized chloroplasts revealed similar thermostability of whole chain electron transport to free chloroplsts. And the absorption peak of red band of chloroplasts showed the blue-shift of 2-4 nm after immobilization. Fv/Fm ratio of chlorophyll fluorescence slightly decreased after immobilization. White light pulse after continuous light do not induced the additional fluorescence rise. This means chlorophyll fluorescence at room temperature reached to Fmax under continuous light in the immobilized chloroplasts. It seems that PVA may be a good candidate for immobilization matrix for the preservation of photosynthetic function of thylakoids and for the continuous use of chloroplast membranes of higher plants for solar energy storage and conversion.

  • A CMOS 950 MHz frequency synthesizer is designed and fabricated in a 0.8.mu.m standard CMOS process for IS-95-A CDMA mobile communication transceivers To utilize a CMOS ring VCO in a CDMA wireless communication receisver, we employed a QDC (quasi-direct conversion) receiver architecture for CDMA applications. Realized RF frequency synthesizer used as the RF local oscillator for a QDC receiver exhibits a phase noise of -92 dBc/Hz at 885kHz offset from the 950.4 MHz carrier, which complies with IS-95-A CDMA specification. It has a rms jitter of 23.7 ps, and draws 30mA from a 5V supply. Measured I/Q phase error of the 950.4 output signals is 0.7 degree.

  • Porous silicon with a complex network of nanopores is utilized for photoelectrochemical energy conversion. A novel electroless Pt deposition onto porous silicon is investigated in the context of photoelectrochemical hydrogen generation. The electroless Pt deposition is shown to improve the characteristics of the PS photoelectrode toward photoelectrochemical $H^+$ reduction, though excessive Pt deposition leads to decrease of photocurrent. Furthermore, it is found that a thin layer (< 10 ${\mu}m$) of porous silicon can serve as anti-reflection layer for the underlying Si substrate, improving photocurrent by reducing photon reflection at the Si/liquid interface. However, as the thickness of the porous silicon increases, the surface recombination on the dramatically increased interface area of the porous silicon begins to dominate, diminishing the photocurrent.

  • Due to development of power electronics technology, power conversion system are tend to small size, easy to use and light weight. Especially motor control system have increased concerns and interests about IPM(Intelligent Power Module) inverter, which contains protection circuit, drive circuit and power devices. So, we manufactured 3-phase inverter using DIP-IPM(Dual in-line package IPM) PS21245- E(1.5 Kw) made by MITSUBISHI Electric. Some of these features include -HVIC to Provide level shifting and gate drive for high-side IGBTs. The interface circuit between pwm controller and DIP-IPM can made by direct connection. In order to validate dynamic performance of the proposed system, the actual experiment worked out at wide speed range. The developed system is shown as a good dynamic characteristics.

  • Organic solar cells have attracted extensive attention as a promising approach for cost-effective photovoltaic devices. However, organic solar cell has disadvantage of low power conversion efficiency in comparison with other type of solar cell, due to the recombination ratio of hole and electron is too large in the active layer. Thus we have change the surface structure of PEDOT:PSS layers to improve the current density by colloidal lithography method using various-size of polystyrene sphere. The two types of coating method were applied to fabricate the different pattern shape and height, such as spin coating and drop casting. Using the organic solvent, we easily eliminate the PS sphere and could make the varied pattern shapes by controlling the wet etching time. Also we have measured the electrical properties of patterned PEDOT:PSS film to check whether it is suitable for organic photovoltaics.

  • High power density and power conversion efficiency have been required in the power converters according to the rapid growth of industry. In this context, the next generation High Speed Train(HST) requires power converter which has high-efficiency, high-performance and high-density. In this paper, the new control technique for battery charger used for the next generation HST is proposed. The phase shift ZVZCS converter is classified according to a resonant circuit which is located in the primary or secondary side. In this paper, The PWM switching technique using all-pass filter is proposed to control ZVZCS converter which has resonant circuit in the secondary side. ATmega_128 micro controller based in all-pass filter in substitute for phase shift IC is presented to have digital control. To verify the proposed topology, the simulation and experiment are performed by using PSIM software and 1[kW] experimental set-up.

  • Objective: The study developed mushroom stalk residues as feed additives in the broiler diet for improving the growth performance and immunity of broilers as well as to increase the value of mushroom stalk residues. Methods: In total, 300 ROSS 308 broilers were randomly allocated into fifteen pens with five dietary treatments: i) control, basal diet; ii) CMWM, supplemented with 1% Cordyceps militaris waster medium (CM); iii) CMPE, supplemented with 0.5% CM+0.5% Pleurotus eryngii stalk residue (PE); iv) CMPS, supplemented with 0.5% CM+0.5% Pleurotus sajorcaju stalk residue (PS); v) CMFV, supplemented with 0.5% CM+0.5% Fammulina velutipes stalk residue (FV). Results: The chemical analysis results showed that CM extracts, PE extracts, PS extracts, and FV extracts contain functional components such as polysaccharides and phenols and have both 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate scavenging and Ferrous scavenging capacities. The group CMWM saw increased body weight gain and feed conversion rate and the promotion of jejunum villus growth, but there is no significant difference in the intestinal bacteria phase. Antioxidant genes in the nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2)- antioxidant responsive element pathway among the groups are significantly higher than that of the control group, especially in group CMWM. Conclusion: The mushroom stalk residues have antioxidant functional components, can improve the intestinal health and body weight gain of chickens, and can activate the antioxidant pathway of Nrf2 to increase the heme oxygenase-1 expression. The treatment with 1% CM was the most promising as a feed additive.

  • The TEMPO-mediated living free-radical bulk and dispersion polymerization of styrene in the presence of camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) are investigated. In the absence of TEMPO and CSA in the bulk polymerization, a conversion of $93\%$ is achieved within 6 hr of polymerization. When only TEMPO is involved in this polymerization, the pseudo-living free-radical polymerization is well achieved, however, the polymerization rate becomes quite slow. This retardation of the polymerization rate is solved by the addition of a low concentration of CSA. In the TEMPO-mediated dispersion polymerization in the presence of CSA, similar trends in the conversion, kinetics, and PDI are observed as those observed in the case of bulk polymerization. When only TEMPO is used in the dispersion polymerization, the resulting particle size becomes quite broad, due to the prolonged polymerization time. However, when a 1.0 molar ratio of CSA to TEMPO is added to the TEMPO-mediated dispersion polymerization, fairly mono-disperse PS microspheres having an average size of 5.83 $\mu$m and a CV of 3.4$\%$ are successfully obtained, due to the narrow molecular weight distribution of the intermediate oligomers and shortening of the polymerization time. This result indicates that the addition of CSA to the TEMPO-mediated bulk and the use of dispersion polymerization not only shortens the polymerization time, but also greatly improves the uniformity of the microspheres.
