분산전원 연계 계통을 위한 과전류 계전기 적응 제어형 보호 알고리즘 연구 (A Study on Adaptive Protection Algorithm of Overcurrent Relay for DG-Connected Power System)

  • 중앙 집중적이고 단방향 특성을 갖는 현재의 전력망에 대하여 신재생 에너지와 에너지 저장장치를 중심으로 하는 다양한 분산 전원의 도입에 따른 독립적 운영을 특징으로 하는 스마트 그리드로의 변화는 기존 전력망의 보호 동작에도 변화를 필요로 하게 된다. 이러한 분산전원의 연계와 스마트 그리드의 도입은 사고전류의 크기와 방향의 변화는 물론 양방향 계통에 의한 동작 변화가 발생하게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 보호 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 배전계통에서 일반적으로 이용되는 과전류 계전기 (Overcurrent Relay, OCR)에 대하여 제안된 알고리즘의 적용을 통해 분산전원 도입을 비롯한 전력계통 상태 변화에 능동적으로 대응하여 보호협조가 유지될 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, 제시된 알고리즘의 성능 검증을 위하여 PSCAD/EMTDC를 이용한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

  • In this paper, the protectability of distance relay is furtherly researched. Based on the probabilistic modeling of the measurement errors, the protectability of three zones is presented in detail by considering their different protection aims denoted by sensitivity and selectivity. The optimal setting for the each zone can be obtained to provide a reference for the practical application.

  • Current transformers(CTs) whose rating is selected per a full load current of a feeder in high voltage system can be easily saturated due to high fault current that may be several hundred times of the full load current of the feeder. However, the protective relay shall operate properly at the fault without mis-operation under the CT saturation. So, in selecting the CT rating, it is necessary to consider the behaviour of CT and a performance of protection scheme in condition where CT can be saturated. In this paper, a performance of CT and a degree of saturation are studied and verified whether its ratings are proper for the operation of the protective relay.

  • This paper describes a current differential relaying algorithm for power transformers with an advanced compensation algorithm for the secondary current of CTs. The comparative study was conducted with and without the compensating algorithm. The algorithm can reduce the operating time of the relay in the case of an internal fault and improve security for external faults. The performance of the proposed algorithm was investigated when the C100 CT, a quarter of the rated CT(C400), is used.

  • The designed frequency compensator is proposed to make the estimation of amplitude of fundamental frequency immune to frequency variation. The designed method which has a simple structure and low calculation burden is proper to apply digital protective relay. The results of experimental demonstrate that the frequency compensator has good performance to the estimation of amplitude of fundamental frequency against frequency variation.

  • This paper presents a digital current differential protection algorithm for a transformer in power system. This algorithm uses an FIR filter to improve the performance of the relay. This paper presents a practical method setting the operating slope of the relay and reduce ct mismatch. A series of EMTP simulation results have shown effectiveness of the algorithm under various type of transformers and conditions.

  • The safety loads in a nuclear power plant perform a critical function to plant safety. The design of the electrical auxiliary system should ensure the availability and adequacy of the power supply, and therefore, the frequency and voltage relaying schemes should be installed on the system to monitor and protect against the degraded system condition. If unforeseen contingencies degrade the switchyard frequency and voltage to below the minimum values, the safety related bus should properly be transferred to alternate power source. This paper presents guidelines associated with the protection of nuclear power plants during frequency/voltage decay and the steady-state and dynamic analysis of auxiliary power system that should be performed to support the degraded voltage relay(second level undervoltage relay) setting.

  • As the electric system is getting larger to meet the increasing demand for electric power, the rating of power apparatus is becoming inevitably higher in its working voltage and larger in its capacity. According to KEPCO reports, power transformers in the KEPCO system have undergone troubles such as winding short insulation breakdowns every year since 1981. the cause of this troubles were high one line grounding fault currents in KEPCO systems that had direct grounding systems. KEPCO has installed the NGR(neutral grounding reactor) to lower this fault current and reduced winding short insulation breakdowns in power transformers. But when a circuit breaker opened a no load bus, some trips of circuit breakers for protecting transformer have occurred by mal-operation of 59GT(overvoltage ground relay) that detect disconnection of NGR. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the cause and examined the effect of time delav circuit to prevent wrong operation of 59GT.

  • This paper presents a functional ability improvement of auto-reclosing relay in the power transmission line protection. When the high speed auto-reclosing is successful, Auto-reclosing is practically valuable to improve the transient stability limit of a power system, but it is fail due to surviving fault, both electrical and mechanical stresses can result on the transformers and turbine-generator. It is true that the longer dead time of the reclosing relay gives the higher rate of successful reclosing, On the other hand, the power system does not always need high speed reclosing because of enough stability margin. This paper proposed "stability margin based dead time reclosing" in order to decrease not only the rate of unsuccessful reclosing, but the possibility of the harmful stress also. On-line transient stability assessment using artificial neural network, for implementing the proposed scheme, has studied and tested with resonable results.

  • In recent years, a lot of research was done for earth fault protection in ungrounded dc power supply system. As a result, selective-breaking integrated protective relaying system is developed in progress and is currently field-testing are planned. Algorithm on a PC using PSCAD done a lot of testing before performing field tests, but in this study developed algorithms and functions needed to determine whether they were operating normally. Therefore, simulated system is similar to the actual situation was required and made. selective-breaking algorithm verification and validation was performed with simulator.
