  • Critical shortage of natural aggregate for production of concrete is developing in many urban area. At the same time increasing quantities of demolished concrete form deteriorated and obsolete structures are generated as a waste material in the same areas. The reuse of a waste concrete may settle the problems of environmental pollution and shortage of adquate aggregate, Therefore, this study is to reuse a waste concrete as aggregate for concrete, It is the purpose of this present study to investigate and analyze how the addition rates of superplasticizer and curing condition affect the properties of fresh and hardened recycled aggregate concrete comparing with those of ordinary concrete and crushed stone concrete.

  • It is well known that the properties of concrete such as the compressive strength, water permeability, water tightness and durability are affected by micro-structure in hardened cement paste. Especially, for durability of concrete, watertightness of cementitious materials is the most critical property among various properties. Recently, many types of materials as organic and/or inorganic materials are used for watertightness of concrete. In this study, The effect of Stearic Acid at $0.5\;wt%{\sim}3.0\;wt%$ adding ratios on the hydration and watertightness property of cement were investigated. And we also discussed the changing of microstructure in hardened cement paste by addition of Stearic Acid. Cement paste with Stearic Acid showed improvement of watertightness by reducing of cement total pore volume and decomposition of Stearic Acid.

  • This paper presents a review on the use of Silica Fume (SF) as a mineral admixture in the concrete. Distinctive outcome from several researches have been demonstrated here, particularly emphasizing on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete when blended with Silica Fume (Micro-silica or Nano-silica). The results showed a substantial enhancement in the mechanical properties of concrete when replaced with SF. The review also presented a brief idea of percentage replacement of SF in case of normal and high-strength concrete. A decreasing trend in workability (slump value) has been identified when there is a increase in percentage replacement of SF. It can be concluded that the optimize percentage of replacement with SF lies in the range of 8-10% particularly for compressive strength. However the variation of blending goes up to 12-15% in case of split tensile and flexure strength of concrete. The study also demonstrates the effect of silica fume on durability parameters like water absorption, permeability, sulphate attack and chloride attack.

  • In the recent design of high ductile fiber-reinforced cementitious composite ECC, which exhibits tensile strain-hardening behavior in the hardened state, optimizing both processing mechanical properties for specific applications is critical. This study introduced a method to develop useful ECCs in field, which possess the different fluid properties to facilitate diverse types of processing (i.e., self-consolidating or spray processing). Control of rheological modulation was regarded as a key factor to allow the performance of the desired processing, while retaining the ductile material properties. To control the rheological properties of the composite, we first determined basic ECC compositon, which is based on micromechanics and steady-state cracking theory. The stability and consequent viscosity of suspensions were, then, mediated by optimizing dosages of chemical and mineral admixtures. The rheological properties altered by this approach were revealed to be effective in obtaining ECC hardened properties, allowing us to readily achieve the desired function of the fresh ECC.

  • With the increasing demand in the production of concrete, there is a need for adopting a feasible, economical and sustainable technique to fulfill practical requirements. Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is one such technique which addresses the concrete industry in providing eco-friendly and cost effective concrete. The objective of the present study is to develop a mix design for SCC with Crushed Rock Fines (CRF) as fine aggregate based on the plastic viscosity of the mix and validate the same for its fresh and hardened properties. Effect of plastic viscosity on the fresh and hardened properties of SCC is also addressed in the present study. SCC mixes are made with binary and ternary blends of Fly Ash (FA) and Ground Granulated Blast Slag (GGBS) with varying percentages as a partial replacement to Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). The proposed mix design is validated successfully with the experimental investigations. The results obtained, indicated that the fresh properties are best achieved for SCC mix with ternary blend followed by binary blend with GGBS, Fly Ash and mix with pure OPC. It is also observed that the replacement of sand with 100% CRF resulted in a workable and cohesive mix.

  • In this study, non-sintering cement is produced by only blending granulate blast furnace slag with phosphogypsum as main materials, and small amounts of hydrate lime or waste lime as activators. This paper was investigated physical properties of fresh concrete and hardened concrete using non-clinker cement according to various mixing ratio. Results obtained from this study have shown that concrete using non-clinker cement could be used for structural concrete and concrete 2th production as binder.

  • In this study, the correlation between the properties of concrete in the fresh state and the compressive strength of hardened concrete was analyzed. It was found that the compressive strength increased as the values of T500 and plastic viscosity increased. However, there is a relationship between T500, which is a qualitative method, and compressive strength, but it seems difficult to predict through this. However, the correlation between plastic viscosity and compressive strength appears to be high, and it is believed that compressive strength can be predicted, but more data will be collected in the future for additional analysis. I think this will be necessary.

  • In this paper, experimental studies are performed to find out properties of crack according to the change of curing conditions of flyash concrete. To study the effect of curing conditions on flyash concrete, slump, bleeding, air content and hydration temperature of fresh concrete are measured according to various curing conditions. In addition, the effect of caring conditions on compressive strength, tensile strength and Plastic drying shrinkage cracking of hardened concrete is also considered.

  • Quality control of ready-mixed concrete is most important in the production step because, the performance of hardened concrete is revealed due to ready-mixed concrete. Hardened concrete has several properties physically. Above all things compressive strength of concrete has a greate effect in the design of structures, analysis, and durability. Compressive strength is simple predicted by w/c up to date, but there are some limits because different compressive strengths can be revealed in the same w/c. Therefore this study contributes to the quality control of ready-mixed concrete through statistical analysis for the relation between mix factors in mix design and compressive strength, predictable equation for compressive strength.

  • Recent economic development caused a vast use of mineral resources in Korea. Consequently, a supply of poor quality course aggregate (poor particle shape as well as poor gradation) in construction material become a social problem. In this study, an effect of aggregate particle shape on property of concrete was evaluated. The flat and elongation ratio of crushed aggregate was controled to 8, 15, 25, 35, and $47\%$ in order to evaluate fresh concrete behavior as well as physical properties in hardened concrete. Test result shows a poor aggregate particle shape cause a significant increase in entrapped air in fresh concrete, while no significant effect on hardened concrete property, such as strength as well as stiffness. This increase in entrapped air, however, believed to cause a significant decrease in concrete durability.
